Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Just leave the fing helmet on!
My expectations for this movie were the same as for all other newer Marvel movies. I knew that visuals will be good and that I will have my ~2h of fun. This movie didn't disappoint on that regard. And I am glad that Cassie was not overpowered character in this movie.
The story is a bit meeh. Nothing interesting going on. The quantum world feels more like a place from Guardians of the galaxy, it doesn't feel that much unique. Also, humor feels too forced in many situations. Then, we are going to the absolute worst bits. MODOK. He feels like some low effort "I've discovered a Photoshop for the first time" character design. The design was just bad. Also, character was completely wasted and it felt really dumb. And lastly, I was so annoyed by constant helmet removal. In the middle of the battle lasers and death beams blazing, removed, argh. Not only the Ant-Man. Everyone was doing it. Kang, Wasp, the kid, everyone. It is just stupid, illogical and annoying. It is a simple logic, battle on helmets on. Who was writing this bs, a bunch of 5 years olds?
Crater (2023)
It is scientifically wrong, but interesting movie
To be honest, I didn't have bad time watching the movie. It is a decent family movie.
It is quite dystopian in a way that people are basically slaves for lunar mines. In my opinion it's a good commentary of where is today's world (unfortunately) heading.
I also like the design of the unfinished lunar city. It feels like retro 60s vision of the lunar colony.
But what was making me cringing are scientific inaccuracies. Let me list some of them:
- Gravity. It behaves as it should only when characters are on the lunar surface which is nonsense. Microgravity should exist in the base, in the lunar rover and on the surface and be exactly the same at all places. One of the characters has a heart issues because of the lunar environment, but he gets magically better inside of the rover because the gravity is different there. Yeah, right.
- Lunar rover. Anyone heard of something called an airlock?
- Crater building. Again, airlock anybody?
- Lunar base. Yet again, why someone hates airlocks so much? There should be an airlock in the rover tunnel. Also, why everything is so unprotected when you know that you will have meteor showers? The spacecraft is just waiting to be a huge strainer, the dome has no covering for the protection etc.
Anyhow, not a terrible movie, but could be much better.
