The Ranch: Helluva Life (2020)
Cultural influences take over.
It's a good thing this was the last episode. Here we have the now required liberal cultural influences of anti-gun establishments, Maggie discovers she's a Lesbian, and embraces the commune lifestyle. This show was a Bastian for the (Far) Right, the "Old Ways" of strong ranchers and the 2nd Amendment. Shows like this cannot even be made anymore, they're immediately panned for Conservative content (much as I'm panning it for its Liberal content). But the show had been going down hill for 2 seasons after Rooster's death, this probably was the natural evolution from entertainment to being another social statement.
The Ranch: Remind Me (2019)
Monotonous storylines
Binge watching for the 3rd time, this series became insufferable after Rooster died. 1. Betrayal of trust, 2. Forgiveness, 3. Acceptance and moving on, or in the case of anything with Abby, no forgiveness, 4. Starting a task only to have one character abandon the project for an unpopular side adventure, 5. Both characters go on the Nobel quest. Rince and repeat several times per episode. And the constant sarcasm and wisecracks instead of a legitimate storyline arc, sheesh. This was a great show, even after Masterson's departure, but it suffered from trying to do too much in too short of a time. The cast was fantastic, the writers just didn't make the best of their acting abilities.
The Rookie: The Choice (2022)
Off the rails
Yeah, this episode did it in for me. No mas. I was semi-OK with the whole cultural agenda with the defund the cops, ACAB, etc. For a few episodes. The producers and ABC have taken nearly all of the minor characters and turned them into activists. This has become too much like a social justice tool with a hard left lean. There is far too much appeasing the minority agendas and not enough content that made this a decent show in the beginning. You jumped the shark when used his show draw to further ABC's liberal cause. Nathan, you deserve better than this, I'm heading back to binge watch Castle again.
