Go check this one out!

I enjoyed this movie! Even though the protagonist's (Becky) best friend (Shiloh) was highly annoying and overly pushy, it did feel like she sincerely cared about Becky. Shiloh was far more outgoing than Becky after the early movie incidents took place, and understandably so. The story was definitely relatable. While Becky's father felt that it was taking her too long to get on with life, you can never truly understand how different this will affect different people.

The acting was well done. The only character that had me doubting them for a bit was the best friend, Shiloh. But that was short lived and partially useful in getting the plot to move forward at a decent rate.

The twist was not something original but done well enough that it didn't feel cliché.

Overall, I enjoyed this film. Go check this one out!

Oddly Worth a Watch
11 April 2023
Welp, I didn't realize this was a horror movie before I started watching. So, the first jump scare really caught me off guard. Once the movie started speeding up, there was no going back! It's a fast-paced fight for survival. Unfortunately, during the 'I want to survive' process, the decision making of some of the characters was inconsistent and irrational. This makes a film much more difficult for me to enjoy.

The acting in this film was questionable. I had trouble believing the emotions that the actors were supposed to be displaying during a few parts. It's very distracting when you have to stop to think 'Wait is that person happy or sad?'.

Multiple times throughout the film, the camera work felt jolty. I understood the philosophy behind this the of camera work, but they didn't execute it well.

While the film had its issues with bad acting, questionable camera work, and terrible decision making from the characters, it was still an enjoyable watch overall. Partially because end of the world/survival movies can easily be high octane. So, it's an 'easy out'. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush, you're in luck. At the very least, this movie will keep you glued to the screen.

A Waste of Time
11 April 2023
Watching this movie felt like a waste of time. I found my mind drifting to other things I could have been doing instead of forcing myself to make it through this film. The acting was bad, the script was bad. The story was silly. There were some isolated funny moments that made me laugh. But there weren't enough of them to justify sitting through this.

I would only suggest this film to be watched if I wanted to troll someone. Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest this movie to someone because I don't like to waste people's time that much. There is no need to put out films of this low quality. Just do better.

Crisis Point (2012 TV Movie)

Barely Tolerable
11 April 2023
Sometimes, while watching a film, I enjoy it from the moment it starts to the moment it ends. This wasn't one of those times. In this case, it was the opposite. 10 minutes in, a part of me wanted to stop watching. Films involving heists and/or hostages can be very similar to each other but are generally easy to make captivating. Once I was able to make it past the prologue that felt forced and random, the rest of the movie was almost tolerable.

The twist redeemed the movie very slightly, which is why the movie didn't get a 3/10. But one good moment does make it worth the 1.5hrs of suffering it took to sit through this film. If you are someone that enjoys watching films, feel free to check this out. But if you are someone who enjoys watching good films, I would suggest you 'pass' on this one.

Light, funny and rewatchable
4 April 2023
The first thing I noticed about this movie before I even started watching it, was that it is just over 2hrs long. With the film being categorized as a fantasy horror comedy, I was suspicious of it feeling to long or drawn out. Luckily I didn't feel that way about it once I started watching it. It exceeded my expectations. I was able to almost immediately connect with the main protagonist 'Kevin' as our upbringing has some similarities that can really shape who we are as a person. In fact I think making it two hours long gave them the space to appropriately build each characters personality enough for us to become emotionally invested with some of the family. This film made me laugh and also made me tear up on multiple occasions (taking in to account that I am very empathetic and can be quick to tears).

I think this movie did exactly what it intended on doing. They weren't aiming for movie of the year, but they were aiming to make a movie that a family can sit down and enjoy. I think they were successful in that right. I also feel this is a movie I could watch and enjoy again to share some laughs with friends/family.

Overall, I enjoyed this watch. I got to feel happy and sad. And also connected with at least once character. I would recommend it as something to add to your watchlist for when you have a free evening to relax.
