In pursuit of his dream to open a chocolate shop in a renowned city, a young and financially struggling Willy Wonka discovers that the chocolate industry is dominated by a group of greedy chocolatiers. Wonka participates in a contest to secure the perfect location for his factory, only to face opposition from Slugworth, a cartel member intent on sabotaging his chances.

"Many people have come here to sell chocolate, they've all been crushed by the Chocolate Cartel. You can't get a shop without selling chocolate, and you can't sell chocolate without a shop." ___ I entered the cinema with no expectations, but as the movie progressed, my attention remained completely engaged.

If there ever was a feel-good movie this is it.

Oscar Worthy
4 November 2023
"When I came to you with those calculations, we thought we might start a chain reaction that might destroy the entire world."

"What of it?" Einstein replies.

"I believe we did."

From there, we cut to shots of modern nuclear warheads launching into the sky. The atmosphere catches fire and consumes the earth.

____ Goosebumps. Coldest final scene.

The final exchange with Einstein is chilling, driving home the gravity of what they unleashed.

So perfect, tragic, and haunting all at the same time.

Nolan said he wanted the audience to "see the potential for good in science, but also be aware of the dangers".

And we did.

It left us with the question of how we can use the power of science to create a better world, without destroying ourselves in the process.

____ Oppenheimer is fantastic. The entire film was perfect but the last hour was just masterful.

Cillian Murphy was brilliant in the title role. The cast was uniformly fantastic, especially Downey Jr. Who gave a career-best performance.

The film is a complex and thought-provoking one. It is a film that will stay with you long after seeing it.

It's not about BL

It's not about BL

The movie incorporates elements of fantasy, supernaturalism, and LGBTQ issues. It tells the story of Wu Ming-Han, a straight and homophobic policeman who is forced to marry Mao Pang-Yu, a gay ghost who died under mysterious circumstances.

The duo must work through their differences and join forces to solve a case, seeking justice for Mao and embarking on a ludicrous and tear-inducing journey together.

____ I loved this story, it's wonderful, and it made me laugh, cry, and thrilled.

The movie has so many things going on altogether but the good thing is that you will not get bored.

I love Dolly
4 November 2023
Dolly De Leon's performance in "Triangle of Sadness" was absolutely incredible. She truly is a TALENT. But let's shift gears and talk about her new film, Keys to the Heart.

I have to admit, "Keys to the Heart" didn't quite meet my expectations. The repetitive use of "Clair de Lune" as background music became somewhat distracting for me.

Every time that melody played, it instantly reminded me of another film called "Everything Everywhere All At Once," (one of my absolute favourite films kasi hahaha) and that association wasn't a positive one.

Nevertheless, my admiration for Dolly De Leon as an actress hasn't diminished at all.

Great sequel
30 October 2023
I really loved and enjoyed this film.

It was entertaining and fun to watch.

Millie Bobby Brown is, as always, talented. Millie Bobby Brown's performance as the charismatic and spirited Enola Holmes, highlighting her ability to carry the film as a compelling lead.

The film's feminist themes and empowerment message were also appreciated, as Enola defies societal expectations and takes on her own detective journey.

Henry Cavill's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes was brilliant.

Intimidating and casual.

Louis Patridge (nincompoop. Lol) is a very handsome man. I noticed how he matured from being a silly boy in season one to a man of character in season 2.

Great sequel!

Carnival Ride
30 October 2023
A Carnival ride.

The film explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). -RT __ A great tribute to one of the most phenomenal entertainers to ever lived.

I was never part of that era to fully appreciate his music but the movie captured Elvis in ways I never thought about.

Austin Butler's performance is truly astonishing. He did an outstanding job. He spoke, danced, sang and moved like him so identically. I think he was a good choice to play him.

Also, great depiction of what stardom, homesickness, and excess does to a person. Being a warrior and at the same time a victim. The rise and fall of the king of Rock and Roll.

Tom Hanks' portrayal of Colonel Parker, a greedy nasty person, was excellent. As usual, Tom Hanks.

This movie was eloquently presented.

Boom!
30 October 2023
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes.

A place where everyone hustles and chases success, New York.

And Jonathan Larson is one of them.

Sadly, he never got to see Rent.

The night before Rent's public performance, he died... Thank you, Jonathan _ A triumph, bringing Jonathan Larson's semi-autobiographical musical to dazzling new life. Andrew Garfield gives a tour-de-force performance as Larson, pouring his soul into capturing the composer's drive and passion. The film feels both a celebration and a timely reminder of the pressing issues Larson spotlighted. Like Rent before it, Tick, Tick...Boom! Highlights the struggles of young artists to stay true to their vision amid the pressures of an unrealistic New York life. Contemporary references make Larson's story of chasing dreams feel urgently resonant. Backed by powerful songs and a vibrant supporting cast, Miranda honors Larson's legacy with a stylish, intensely intimate production. Admirers of Larson and Miranda's work will find this film truly soars as an artful tribute to the artistic process.

A Paradigm shift
30 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A paradigm shift.

A cinematic masterpiece.

_______ A sad realization that despite her mom being the cause of what she became, seeing so many versions and killing versions of her, what Jobu Tupaki was looking for was a version of her mom who could understand her and be with her.

______ There are so many things in this movie that a lot of people can relate to.

The generational trauma.

The familial pressure.

The pressure to succeed.

Movies like this remind us to keep our focus on what is important and to also be kind.

_______ I went into the movie with high expectations and was not disappointed.

One of my favorite movies of all time. It brought tears to my eyes.

(I rarely cry while watching movies, but this movie hit me really deeply.) This movie was quite simply amazing. A mind-blowing story, genuinely hilarious, beautiful, and inspiring all at the same time.

Literally the most unique film I've seen.

Unexpected Plot
30 October 2023
Amazing cinematography, I loved the visuals and great performances. That plot twist at the end was soo good. I never expected it at all.

I am praising the film's gorgeous visual style and homage to 1960s London fashion and pop culture, with its production and costume design winning high marks. While the narrative was deemed somewhat unclear by some, most agreed it packs an emotionally affecting punch in exploring the psychology of women and power dynamics through the decades. Reviews highlighted its thrilling Hitchcockian elements skillfully blended with psychological horror, calling it a mesmerizing treat with stylistic flair. However, a few felt it lost coherence at times in juggling genres. Overall, even those with reservations about plot admitted to being thoroughly entertained by its unsettling Twin Peaks-like vibes and social commentary. Most agreed Last Night in Soho is one of the most stylish and haunting films of the year thanks to Edgar Wright's ambitious genre-blending craft.

A comeback for Brandon.
24 February 2023
One of the most moving films I've ever seen.

This film had me sitting in utter silence at the end wondering what an amazing film I had just watched.

I was stunned, enthralled, mesmerised and grossed out in equal measure. Absolutely staggering performances from the three main characters.

Tight cinematography, color Grading, ambience and screenplay.

Definitely Oscar worthy performance from Brendan Fraser. He deserves all the praise and was an enjoyable actor. He knew the difference between being an actor and being a "Hollywood star".

It is real, raw, heartbreaking and emotional. It makes you think about life from multiple perspectives.

It also paints a picture of how humanizing and self-destructing we can be to ourselves.
