The Song of Bernadette (1943)
Bernadette's Sight
First, I would like to start with a summary. Bernadette is 14 year old french girl who went to get wood with her sister and friend. Then a wind comes and she says Virgin Mary in a grotto. Bernadette gets on her knees and starts praying with her rosery with Virgin Mary. The whole town come with her after a while. Meanwhile, the town officials(who are atheists) try everything they can to prove her wrong. When Bernadette says the lady called her self "The Imaculate Conseption" that made people realize it was Mary. Bernadette later finds a spring which has healing powers. When she got older she was sent to live with the nuns. She finds out her bones are decaying and she is slowly dying.
Now this movie is very good, coming from a non-catholic. What could've made this movie a 10 is if some actors put more effort. The nun who despises Bernadette could've tried more harder with her expressions. Lastly, I get it is a religious movie but a review doesn't need to be just about religion. Thank you for reading this review and have a wonderful day!
Oliver Twist (1999)
Oliver Twisted Up
Oliver Twisted Up, get it Oliver Twist-ed up. Ah, never mind. This was a very good film to watch besides some parts being rather confusing. The beginning was good, just a higher level of maturity. Some parts were very boring, but when Bill Sikes would show up on screen, now that, that made it so exciting.
Now the confusing parts. First, is that one character would show up on screen and we have no clue who they are until five hours later. We also wouldn't know their relation to Oliver till a while, but Mr. Monks and Rose are the only exceptions.
Thanks for reading my review and have a good rest of your day!
David Copperfield (1999)
An amazing film!
David Copperfield is one of the best films I have ever seen. The story blends very well, especially when you see David Copperfield grow older.(If you blink you miss it!) There is one sad scene when his wife Dora passes away. But he marries Agnes which made me very happy. When Emily leaves Ham for Steerforth, now that, that was a heartbreaking scene. I wish at one point when David Copperfield was older that Murdstone would come back in at least one scene. Now, if you do watch the movie, I didn't list these events in order its kind of what I thought of at the moments. Thank you for reading my review!
A Man for All Seasons (1966)
A Man For All Seasons is a decent fil besides a few things
The film A Man For All Seasons is a pretty good film besides the man characters acting. Paul Scofield didn't look like he got payed enough to do his job. His facial expressions were very bland and looked like he did not care about what he was doing at all. Please cast a different lead Fred Zinneman. Also the film missed out on some pretty important characters according to another review. My personal favourite part is when King Henry the 8 goes to Thomas's house. If you don't want to watch the full movie, I would highly recommend you just fast forward to this scene. This is my review on this film.
