American Star (2024)

Beautiful looking film with a slow burn.

Beautifully shot film with a great slow arc to a harsh climax.

Ian mcshane delivers a very understated performance but that's the point of his character, a man who shouldn't be noticed too much but can't help interacting with fellow islanders.

It reminds me of The Hit with Tim Roth, Terence Stamp and John Hurt.

The scenery is stunning, the performances are all brilliant, and a soothing score fills the film nicely.

Don't watch if you want a good paced film where lots happen in quick succession.

The female co-star is fantastic in her role and oozes charm when around mcshane.

A really great film, and one I'll watch again.

Not what it started out to be.

Well ,as a lover of horror since 79' this really started off great. Some great scenes from a lonely traveler looking for a place to stay after an Airbnb goes awry.

Then it descends into a shlock of 'wrong turn' meets 'hills have eyes' meets 'creep' 90's English underground horror film, that was better.

It's a lot of suspense but leaves little to the imagination after the first 40 minutes. It could have been 30 minutes less. It's shame as the start was brilliant and was hoping it was going into a disturbing scenario.

It's a case of suspense at the start meets a poor man's weirdo's left behind in a town that died because of them.

Very average.

Please stop these films.

The original and the remake in 2003 are all you need to see. This was just awful in every sense.

No decent scenes, leather face was poor.

What a waste of everyone's time involved.

When the 2003 remake absolutely destroys the poor follow up films just says it all.

Worthy series film

What do people expect when they criticise a third film in this franchise, do they expect Morgan freeman to deliver a shawshank performance, is it going to be groundbreaking. Base it on a film in this series and no other, like you would with Rambo saga or Jason bourne films. Enjoy it for what it is, enjoyable action and get a life if you want to critique its filming style, oh no the lighting and angles were off.....oh do FO!
