The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
I don't even have words
Probably one of the worst movies I've seen in recent times.
I don't care if it's inspired by some Greek drama, this film is simply one of the worst things I've ever decided to watch.
It is not possible to establish any connection with the characters. Perhaps Nicole Kidman plays the only more human role in all of this. All the other characters appear to have some type of cerebral paralysis.
I give it three stars because I was still a little interested during the beginning, but in truth, the whole film is nonsense, and I even feel insulted, especially with the ending.
I really don't have words to describe it, I feel disgusted, I don't understand the logic of making a film like this, who could think this is an interesting story?
What nonsense, in general, I hated all the actors in this film, Martin is detestable, the children are expressionless puppets, and the father is also a character that you can't create any kind of connection with.
Not only do I hope, but I know I will quickly erase this from my memory.
Batman & Robin (1997)
What's up with the reviews?
Yes, this movie sucks. Despite having excellent actors, everything in this film sounds wrong. But even so, I can't understand how this film can have a 3.8 rating. The score is almost as bad as the 2004 movie "Catwoman", and that's where I have to disagree.
While "Catwoman" is a film to take seriously (supposedly), this film is not. This is supposed to be almost a comedy and nothing to take seriously, and if it's seen that way, I think Catwoman should have around 2 stars and this one maybe between 4/5.
I'm actually comparing poop to diarrhea, but that's the kind of comparison you have to make. Poop can still be picked up with a bag, and if it's not too soft, you can pick it up without dirtying the floor. Diarrhea is more complicated to clean and leaves the floor dirty.
I don't have a better way to explain the value of this film, but I think this comparison could serve as an example.

Late Night with the Devil (2023)
Cool, but not amazing.
The movie is interesting, the fact that it is from the point of view of a television program makes the idea quite original and engaging in its theme. I liked things in general, but towards the end I was a little uninterested in the conclusion that it began to lead to.
It's not even close to a traditional horror film, and calling it horror may not be the right thing either, because there isn't really any scary part.
My problem really is with the lack of explanation that exists for some issues, in this case hypnotization, which seems like the idea is a bit far-fetched. The ending I also find to be quite inconclusive and explanatory of everything, it leaves a bit to be desired. But otherwise it's a good film to pass the time and entertain.
What Women Want (2000)
Aged very badly!
When I saw the movie I was quite young, so I didn't have much of an opinion on some topics, but recently this film happened to be shown on television and I watched it again.
This film is one of those plastic American films from the 2000s. Horrible dialogue, horrible music, horrible conclusions.
Mel Gibson' character behaves like a perverted adult baby, who even peeks through the skirts of store mannequins to see their butts, I think the character is detestable, and is the type of person that I don't want to see in front of me on a daily basis, who still doesn't learn from his mistakes, and always maintains that clown attitude with his ego in the clouds.
Poor Things (2023)
Objectification of women?
The film has some entertaining moments, but my biggest problem with this movie is what has also been mentioned here in some reviews. In fact, I think that the message that the movie wanted to send out ended up being the opposite. Most of all, it gives the idea that the person who wrote this has some perverse fantasies about little girls.
I can't find much meaning in this movie. I can deal with the idea of the woman who committed suicide and put her daughter's brain in her mother's body, but it's really in the sense of a black comedy, not very deep. It was the premise they came up with to try to explain Bella's story, but deep down, the woman ends up being completely objectified throughout the movie, and it ends up being too long in terms of the number of times the film repeats itself in its message.
Overall, the movie was entertaining for me (more at the beginning), the filming and scenery are interesting, and the dialogues too, but it's impossible not to criticize the wrong aspects of it. As I said, the movie is very long, and I made a huge effort to stay awake, because little by little I started to lose interest.
Take Shelter (2011)
I don't even know how to evaluate
The film actually has some good things, I think the actors play their role well, the problem is the emptiness that I feel the script leaves us with.
Even though the actors were good, I couldn't like the main character. I think it lacks a bit of soul and a different vision to introduce us to this character. Nothing he does seems to make much sense, and despite suffering from frightening visions and nightmares, I still can't relate to some of his decisions.
I also find it really strange how easily he gets rid of the dog, apparently he was quite friendly with his daughter. And no one talks about that, just the fact that it suddenly ends up closed in a fence for no apparent reason. Maybe I'm being picky, but these types of things don't make much sense to me.
And then of course, the ending. It gives the idea that they couldn't find a way to make the viewer like the main character, so they forced her to be right all the time, even though it's completely absurd.
I don't really know what to think and say, I'm torn, there were things I liked, but the film easily becomes criticizable.
Talk to Me (2022)
Talk to the hand.
I don't think the film starts that well, it seemed to me like one of those typical films about young people and ghosts, but the truth is that towards the middle it improves, especially when there is the first aggressive scene, I think it is quite striking, and then I was even more interested in the film. But the truth is that after that, the film tends to become more tedious and a bit aimless. The main character, in fact, ends up making somewhat absurd decisions, which takes me away from the credibility of the film itself.
The last hour of the film becomes quite repetitive within its genre, and there are many points that remain unfinished in my opinion. Not that I'm really interested in knowing what happened to some characters, but I think another type of conclusion was necessary.
Bruce Almighty (2003)
2000s stereotype. Catwoman Style.
Strengths of the film? Jim Carrey, despite not being his best performance, and sometimes a bit childish, also due to the editing of the film itself.
Weak points? Everything else. This film is really boring, maybe there is one scene or another that is funny, but it's really nothing special.
But what bothers me most about this film is that it is a total stereotype of this year's films, and with very bad writing and scripting. Then there are issues that seem too stupid to me and too within the American wave of "living the dream", where having a super car is good, Mexicans are thieves and even a woman in a skirt can be an offense to a Christian. I think it's just sad, even with the romance in the middle, I don't understand where the film's message lies. That's why I give it a slightly negative score, also because this is a dull comedy. The 4 stars are for Jim Carrey, and because there are worse films too.
The Predator (2018)
I couldn't watch it until the end
The same thing has already been said here in several comments, but I have to reinforce: This film is the death of the franchise.
Not that I'm exactly a super fan, but the originals had something that this one simply doesn't have. The amount of CGI (bad CGI) makes it even worse. This new Jurassic Park-style story model, in which everything is epic but they forget about the story or the simplicity of things, which is what often gets the message across to the public, makes it almost impossible to see.
I confess that I'm giving a review to a film that I haven't watch it to the end, and it's rare that I don't watch movies to the end, but for some reason I give these films 1 or 2 stars.
It's all just too bad. It lacks soul, it lacks history, it lacks connection. 2/10.
Spider-Man: Lotus (2023)
Why?
I understand that the film was made with little investment, but perhaps it is therefore necessary to invest more in the type of action film as you would expect from Spider-Man.
It just doesn't work. The filming is bad in general, the shots are wrong and badly made, the writing is very bad, the story is very uninteresting, and above all, it's boring.
I also think the CGI is bad honestly, I know that with little money you can't do much, but I don't like it.
Then there is the fundamental problem of realizing that it is made by kids, where there are only kid actors, playing roles that are not very credible for their age. I can't take this seriously, not even a little bit.
Then there's all the hassle of flashbacks and completely boring dialogue with no background whatsoever.
It's a lousy movie and that's the result. Maybe they should have invested in a short film, I'm sure it worked better for an audience like me.
Alien (1979)
Masterpiece. Better than those of today.
This film is a work of art. To think the movie is from 79 is mindblowing.
This is one of those movies that if it happens to be on television I simply have to watch it and I never stop liking it. It is an authentic journey through time and space.
Not only do I give this film 10 stars for nostalgic reasons, but because it is really good and there is no current film that can make me believe so much in a theme of this genre.
Of course, the alien is super epic, the whole universe created around the creature and its development is fascinating, and the fact that they don't use poor quality 3D like all current films, makes everything much more real.
Black Mirror: Smithereens (2019)
Weak
This is one of those unmemorable black mirror episodes. At least for me. With some absolutely obvious flaws like the fact that snipers don't know how to position themselves in a completely open field, and the fact that a supposedly intelligent man doesn't also know how to do some obvious things, this episode honestly isn't too bad, but the ending for me destroys everything. It's one thing to end badly, it's another thing to simply not know how to end, and in this case it was that. Honestly, I was a little annoyed at the end. I thought it was all rather silly.
You might say that it even has a bit of black mirror essence, but I totally disagree, it has absolutely nothing black mirror, it's just a thriller about a kidnapping of a nerd who wants to commit suicide.
Black Mirror: Mazey Day (2023)
I thought it was better than the previous one...
The score doesn't match because I don't think it's a 5 star episode. I even think this episode was better than the previous one.
Now, that it's not Black Mirror, and for most viewers, it's a disappointment, as once again the episode has nothing to do with the philosophy of the series. I happen to love horror movies, and I didn't think this episode was bad for that reason, but it also disappoints me, because it didn't meet my expectations. I still had hope that this episode could give the twist to this season that has nothing to do with Black Mirror.
I understand that there comes a point where ideas start to run out, but for that, then, it shouldn't be called Black Mirror, but something else, a new series with these completely different stories.
Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea (2023)
Predictable and silly with a terrible ending.
I'm quite disappointed with this season, and this episode is in my opinion the worst of the first three (I haven't seen the next ones yet).
So where to start? I just don't give a star or two for the actors who played a great role. Maybe I'm also being a bit demanding and tough with Black Mirror, because I'm expecting the episodes to be all as great as the previous ones. But once again, that didn't happen. This episode is weak, there is little of Black Mirror, not least because the idea is super silly and poorly thought out. So they make replicas, and the replicas are left on earth? Why not the other way around? Wouldn't that make 1000 times more sense? It's just absurd, and the ending made me quite angry, for being predictable and bad. It lacks that essence of surprising the spectator, from start to finish I already knew more or less where this was going.
As a black mirror episode, I give it 4 stars.
Black Mirror: Joan Is Awful (2023)
Didn't make much sense
Of all the episodes in the Black Mirror series, this is without a doubt one of the worst.
By the way, I gave the series 9 stars, because really almost all the episodes are spectacular, apart from one or another weaker one. But this episode just doesn't feel right. Not to mention the ending, which I don't think made any sense, it gives the impression that they had the idea but didn't know how to finish it. The idea in general is a bit sketchy.
And yes, the series sometimes exaggerates the characterization of the characters, but it usually hits right, and in this case, I didn't think so, it didn't work out. The characters are not memorable and I think this is the point that most disappoints me in the episode.
Old People (2022)
Too silly for me
So a group of old people who feel abandoned by society decide to attack and kill people? And old men have more strength than some grown men and run like gazelles.
I honestly couldn't even get into the story, I find it all completely absurd, and the writing doesn't help either. I found it a bit boring. It's not that the actors are exactly bad, but their roles are nothing special, and in general I didn't even like the characters that much.
Then there's an absurd thing in the film that I can't even figure out, and that's the sound! Why do old people make noise about zombies and monsters? Is it a satire?
Too silly for me.
Eerie (2018)
I understand the hate
It's not that the movie started out great, but over time it doesn't get any better. I found the movie to be boring, halfway through I was already turned off.
The film is full of jump scares, sometimes every 5 minutes, and it becomes a bit unbearable honestly, it's always the same formula in a loop until the end. Yes, the film has some scary parts, but that's not enough for me, and the monotony and confusion of the story doesn't let me give it a positive rating.
Then there are a lot of things that don't make much sense, and even some things should perhaps have been explored better, like for example what do the students do during the days, it's too focused on horror as they also forgot about the characters.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
I don't agree with the score.
Of all the horror movies I've seen on netflix, this one was one of the best.
I can't even understand the score, because compared to many others, the movie didn't deserve to have such a negative score. I didn't think it was brilliant either, but I think it's full of strengths that others don't even come close to. Starting with the cast, I think the actors all play a good role, the story is cool, and above all, I felt entertained until the end.
The name is quite suggestive, but it still has a horror movie vibe and sinister scenes that I really enjoyed. If you want to see a good movie in the horror category, I recommend this one.
Cam (2018)
Seriously?
After watching this film until the end, it is impossible for me to give this film a positive score, at least within my criteria for a good film. In my opinion, a movie has to at least explain what's going on, otherwise it's a set of meaningless scenes, and this movie is one of those, because it simply doesn't explain the why of anything, and several mysteries and dialogues become completely irrelevant in the end.
All the suspicions of the main character, deep down, were a waste of time, and the film doesn't even bother to explain why. It is not clear if we are talking about artificial intelligence, aliens or clones. And I honestly can't understand how it can be the main character's final decision to do the same thing again and start over from scratch, what's the point? Will the same thing happen again? What can she do in the future to stop this? Is she just dumb? And how is her relationship with her brother after all this? Did that even matter for anything?
It's absurd.
The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) (2011)
Just violent.
It's a violent movie, and there's not much to say.
The film doesn't exactly have a story, because as I've read in another comment here, and I have to agree, the film is like watching a crime scene.
If you just don't like watching brutally violent things, then this movie isn't for you.
Of the three movies I've seen, this one is the most empty, but the one that feels the most real. The three films are completely different from each other, and this film honestly has no great desire to see it again. The torture scenes are simply too explicit, and the hammer-in-the-teeth scene honestly I won't recover from that vision. Everything about this movie is extremely disgusting.
We Have a Ghost (2023)
I didn't feel like finishing.
So the movie doesn't start badly. The problem is that over time it becomes boring. I was wrong, I thought the film was horror and comedy, but in a darker sense perhaps, but the film is quite juvenile and a little childish, perhaps to be seen with children up to 14/16 years old.
And it's not that I don't like Sunday afternoon movies to be seen with the family, but something that made me tired was the writing that is quite lazy and full of small flaws or lack of logic.
The actors aren't bad, but the role they're given isn't great. I couldn't finish the movie, it was close to the end, but im a person with more
than 30 years, and watching this alone, made me feel like an idiot.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
The more I see the less I like
I already liked this movie more. Maybe it's the times or my age, but in fact they are those films that the more I watch the less I like. It's not that the film is bad, because it has a lot of memorable scenes, as well as the whole wave and music is something very specific, but nevertheless, it turns out to be too violent and even the film's message is confusing. I still give it a positive rating, because I think it's a unique film.
I think the film's problem is really the violence, not only physical but also psychological. It's from start to finish, and it gives me the feeling that the film wants to make the viewer angry with what they're seeing, and it actually succeeds, because seeing the way the main character is punished ends up not being very interesting.
Django Unchained (2012)
I was bored
I like Tarantino a lot, but I get confused when I see reviews saying that this is his best film. Is Django better than Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood? Everyone has their own perspective but I have mine.
The movie should have ended an hour earlier. There was a moment when I thought the movie was going to end, but it didn't. It continued to roll and roll... Honestly, towards the end I was already bored.
I don't have much to add, the bad ratings are in relation to this for the most part. The film reaches a point and is lost, and you get the idea at the end that you've even seen more than one film, and I don't know if that's a good thing.
The writing is good, but it gets to the point where the length of the film doesn't make up for it.
iBoy (2017)
SpiderWebMan with lazy script
So, a cell phone explodes, pieces end up next to the protagonist's brain, and this gives him access to the internet? So far I still accept it, but being able to influence electricity and even old car engines doesn't make much sense. The part where he runs away from the middle of a beating with a high-pitched sound I also found super ridiculous. Afterwards the film has a whole predictable vibe, with weak writing overall. Of course the protagonist's "best friend", who appears on mere occasions, had to be connected to the gangs to make the story connect.
The film becomes really boring, there aren't really any personalities, it's just high school characters but do some of them deal cocaine and commit crimes? Then there are some criminals taken from another movie universe that looks like an action movie with the Mexican mafia. I don't even know what audience this is for honestly.
And of course, the film has a complete spiderman vibe, a kid who lives with his grandmother, who gains a super power, is in love and wants to defeat the villains. Honestly the movie irritated me on a few occasions, and the story itself was one of them.
