Wow this movie attracts a lot of haters and fans of the book!

7.8/10

I see where the hate and low ratings are coming from, those that are hardcore "fans" of the book and those who simply hate Tom Cruise...join them together and voila!

If you haven't read the book and you have nothing against Tom, then you are most likely going to enjoy watching this as much as I did, also if you came to watch expecting a classic artsy fartsy type film, then you are a dumbass.

the plot unravels in a bit unusual way but not in a bad way which is good, Its a good looking movie and well shot, nicely edited, Good chemistry between the characters. the acting (i didn't bother to notice when im just trying to unwind watching an action flick) is not noticeably bad either. there were also a couple of funny moments that were genius, so what do I have to complain about?

I am not exactly a fan of Tom Cruise but I don't understand why people go watch movies where Tom is lead, happens to hate him as well and even give an effort to rate and stalk his IMDb page. wtf man? get a life.

Takes the action bits in perspective for the audience to enjoy.
26 April 2013
what i was expecting situations to be like :(here we are again a random dude starts shooting then quickly cuts to a random guy getting shot and im just going to assume the logic in between the randomness)

Surprisingly what we have here is a decent one. No confusing shaky cams, No hazy quick cuts and disjointed editing unlike the recent trend we've seen in big production flicks cough* expendables 2 or even from the dark knight rises *cough, finally as a viewer i could make out what was going on though the wild and loud fast paced shoot outs, car chases etc, panning at the right field of view. this is what made the whole movie refreshing and enjoyable for me (and im not the only one)

the story wasn't that "big" and exaggerated which makes the whole situation for us a lot easier to suspend disbelief. Although it does have those few corny one liners and a predictable ending. its forgivable. definitely worth a shot.

The Paperboy (2012)

random and pointless but got the right humor
13 January 2013
the paperboy is a mess. if you stop and think like most viewers (i assume) about the plot and where the movie is headed, there were more than enough scenes that were so random and pointless that it seems it was put there for nothing more of shock value, which could have been fine if it contributes to the story but even the story was shady overall. not much was done to make the story have value. the screenplay is noticeably off- putting and shabby, director was lost or did not know what he was doing.

its frustrating to think about how it played out because the actors did a fine job in justifying the roles to play. the characters were also interesting. oddly enough for this kind of movie it had the right humor. as for the ending again felt random and a bit shocking to say the least BUT who really cares, IT WAS POINTLESS.

not a clever film for philosophy
23 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
the movie isn't all that bad but it just wasn't clever enough to pull something like this off. i didn't care about the philosophical arguments made because it was too simple and stereotypical, its pretty obvious. the typical Christian and atheist debate is a worn out subject, fact is people will believe anything in this case i wish there could have been at least good character development for which ever side you choose to be on. the acting was also nothing special, it was mediocre but some parts were pretty bad. nonetheless good acting cant save a not so good writing.

what really bothers me though is that why the F didn't they put anything to catch the jumpers fall?? (the police got there in time, so did the firefighters) all because this movie wanted to prove a point, an irrational and dumb point for something that tries to be right. I'm not a Christian but the ending was cheap and laughable.

contrived like crazy
9 October 2012
the good: brings back warm nostalgia as you see the stars interact and crack jokes with each other, also the shaky camera effect was barely present.

the bad: first of all, we are expecting an action packed movie but ironically this is where the movie fails miserably, forget about the acting or even the story, the action is where its at, but the detail and sensibility in the action scenes were poorly executed, not only that the effects and CGI were also noticeably BAD.

lazily edited action scenes mostly consists of point a: someone shooting and then cuts to point b: some random guy being shot at. it does this tediously and disjointed that ((apart from the fighting scenes)) it doesn't even feel like the action is happening in the same area and because of this, bad guys doing stupid things like standing out in the open. the fight scenes were pretty generic and not a single cuss was spoken.

the go go power rangers

this cliché drivel extravaganza was more than painful to sit through, also the explosions were too loud, i had to occasionally turn the volume up when i cant hear them speaking and then BOOOM! MY EARS BLEED. i cant quite put my finger on why the presentation looks retarded and circus like, hell, just look at captain America's suit, or the archer as he awkwardly cocks his crossbow open like a dumbass.

the special effects delivered as expected but thats all, there was no sensible plot, they came up with nothing and crammed all the characters to prance around for a pageant show.

the director of toy story in my opinion was misplaced. he just didn't fit the style at all. i waited for the blu ray release, then disappointed.

Breaking Bad (2008–2013)

breaking bad habits of t.v shows
20 September 2012
while there are awesome and successful shows like prison break, dexter, and house etc. I've noticed a trend that after around season 4 or 5 and so on. there is the sudden decline in writing and ritualistic storyline to the point of being unavoidably predictable or immensely CONTRIVED. this is where breaking bad stands above the rest.

one thing i didn't quite like was that walter's close relative brother in law just HAD to be D.E.A. that being said, breaking bad is surprisingly filled with ingenious humor and you cant even tell for the most part whether intentional or not...then hits you out of nowhere how serious it can be. the plot twists doesn't feel fabricated and over the top but its in a rather more realistic perspective which works really well.

unique show. continues to be interesting!

like bland

love is one of the most complicated and driving force of reality known to man, it is the foundation of connection. in this film however it didn't really try to connect with the audience, which was why the characters have little bearing for us to feel empathy or even care about. i mean it starts off as them immediately into each other and then we are somewhat forced into believing the connection they have through a bunch of amateurish camera-work, and pacing most of the time with no dialog, not that there's wrong with having no dialogs but this one failed to pull it off and besides of not a having a fruitful scrip integrated in the plot, there's not even a good chemistry between them.

the plot sounds interesting enough but everything else was just...meh..

horrendous plot, what is this?
27 July 2012
just done watching it...well, this movie is UNBELIEVABLE. i feel like it assumes the viewers are dumb enough to believe whatever the hell is going on. its just out in the open DUMB. its not enough that the plot goes into a convoluted mess, it becomes very irrational as well and this backs up the characters irrationality. it makes you go in your head "are you fkin kidding me?" and "really? WTF?"..."did you check the pulse??" at some point in the movie one of the bad guy Giovanni Ribisi's character did not know mark was the brother of one of the guy he was working for (ben foster)in which ben threatens giovanni to stay away from marks wife?? what the hell was the wife's role any way? to add tension? why are they enforcing the wife when mark was eager on doing the stupid "job" besides the stupid coke thing, the bad guys tactics and decision making skills or even common sense were non-existent. the whole relationship with the characters, like the "irish" guy or the crazy Mexican, the ships crew, the idiot brother in law... all the characters roles failed to connect when it should.

the ending was laughable, again not a bit of effort in explaining the series of events that supposedly happened. you wouldn't mind the ugly camera work zooming in on faces and or marky mark trying had not to look at the camera.

4 stars for the effort and for J.K. Simmons mustache.

Shame (2011)

artsy, taboo but unpretentious
30 June 2012
there is something sympathetic you'll find about this film because its not trying to be anything else, no narration or unnecessary dramatic score. strait-forward although there were scenes that felt drawn-out, complemented by exceptional acting even if this weeds out the easily bored audience.

we are presented through the eyes of a 30-something man with a predicament of sexual obsession. he is single with a decent job, liberated, fair looking armed with a size decent genitalia as he flaunts around his personal space, his sister then calls him on the phone but he ignores it in exchange to masturbate in the shower. early on this sets up an in your face overtone. the plot goes down this oversexed mans unfamiliar feeling is confronted by his sister unexpectedly moving in his apartment for reasons you'd find out eventually, its an interesting direction since its most likely not what you think is going down.

the director did a fine job by delivering an alluring cinematography. we should watch out for this guy. definitely blu-ray worthy.

the twist wasn't bad (pretty good actually) but the loose end was DUMB
10 April 2012
the built up story line was a let down...i wasn't expecting much BUT in the middle of it as the plot thickens things get interesting then it gets a bit better, then it just flops downhill..like the jack and jill nursery rhyme.

the way the story builds up is a standard cheat(common in thrillers, especially in TV series)you know that feeling somewhere along the line things were brought up out of sheer laziness, yea thats it. a cheap way to end a good build up. anyway thats all. do not watch this seriously for entertainment. just sit back and do not pay much attention even if this is a thriller...quarter way though will most likely disappoint.

failure
23 January 2011
let me sum up the episodes of season 1 for you...BAD acting, BAD story..and most of all BAD scriptwriting..like a bunch of high schoolers wrote it. the kind that will make your eyes roll or face palm. what the hell man? it comes with the whole package!

just very long and dull. and the scenes that were supposed to be funny the shower scene and red wine drinking scene fail so bad you can see the intentions behind it you know what i mean? who is the dumb @$$ responsible for this? hard to believe frank darabont directed this rubbish. a 9 rating? the whole thing falls flat. the walking dead = FAILS.

a movie with trains and spinning cameras
28 December 2010
all throughout the movie the camera would be spinning around the actors faces about 80% of the time...shot after shot. and im pretty sure I've heard the soundtrack before I've heard it on dejavu, bourne films...it goes like tententententententententen...you know what im talking about.

they also talk a lot about trains and then some. i don't know anything about trains so most of the time i don't know what they are talking about. it sure wasn't logical but what do i know. it should have been interesting listening to them ramble some train terminology talk about trains like the scientists would do when a meteor is about to hit earth cough*Armageddon*cough and make things seem possible because it looks like they know what they're talking about but i don't and it draws my attention to the spinning camera effect is fooking annoying.

ill give it a 3 star but for some people i know would enjoy it much more because of Denzel and Chris pine. other than that this movie is crap
