Absolutely terrible!
23 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I gave it a 1/10, and I have to say, I was quite generous with my ratings for other movies so far.

The short version is this: The acting is awful, the story is nonexistent, AND MOST IMPORTANT: the majority of cars are fake (see half the movie goofs for details).

The long version:

The movie is plain bad, from start to finish. If it wants to be a movie inspired by a video game, it fails in more than one way. The most important being the cops. The best cars that the cops were able to send against Koenigseggs, McLarens & other hyper-cars were Dodge Chargers and 1 SUV. That's simply atrocious.

Furthermore, the accident that puts the main character in jail, is absolutely absurd. A bump in the rear bumper sends the Koeningsegg tumbling, flying and rolling off a bridge. However, later in the movie, when a Bugatti gets BRUTALLY RAMMED by a police car, it just spins a few times and goes off the road. That's it. Pathetic again.

3rd! Music. I can't even begin to describe my music expectations based on most of the early Need For Speed game. However, the movie disappoints in this category as well. No high-speed-great-music scenes, no energizing songs, nothing.

All-in-all, the movie was a great disappointment. I wanted to see something that comes at least close to the video game series. This is nowhere close.

I guess I'll stick to the F&F series.

Child's Pose (2013)
4/10
Expected more from an Oscar nominee!
7 August 2013
The whole movie contains excessive drama, and unfortunately, for nothing. There is no real action in the movie, except for endless conversations between the characters. The mother is pretty much the main character of the movie, and spends her whole screen-time talking to various other characters.

I don't understand how this movie is even in the run for an Oscar. The story idea that sits behind the movie could have created an amazing movie, packed with smart dialogs and action. However, all the movie offers for it's viewers are endless dialogs. Endless.

A disappointment. Don't watch it. Just my 2 cents.

Very promising!
7 September 2010
I saw a few adverts about the series and decided 'what the heck!'. After watching the 8 episodes from the 1st season I really have to say I'm impressed. I'd say that the storyline is rather excellent for a comedy-drama series.

Having most of the "Entourage" crew behind it, it might just be a success, and if they try hard enough, I can see a future for this show, no doubt about that! The story is great! Combining street thugs, ex-cons, high-life, 'not-so-high-life', hood-mentality, etc. showing the struggle to get to the top in a country where there's enough possibilities for everyone, but also bringing some comedy into it.

Unfortunately 8 episodes are too few to get a good idea about what's about to happen, but the characters and the action portray real-life close enough just to make it believable. That's a good enough reason to want to watch the first season of the show, but it made me want to see the 2nd season as well.

You're never sure what's going to happen next. I'd say it was worth my time watching it.

Boot Camp (2008)

Excellent story!
26 April 2010
I will start off by saying that I have been truly impressed by this movie. Perhaps not the excellent actor performance but the story behind the movie.

I've finished watching it a few minutes ago and felt like I needed to do a short review on it. First of, don't get fooled by the start, as I've heard people saying they wanted to stop watching after the first 15 minutes, ignore that if you're interested in seeing a good movie based on a true story.

The action of the movie is excellent, perhaps a bit exaggerated but nevertheless close to the truth as it was then. I'm talking about the psychological effect a 'rehabilitation camp' can have on teenagers. In order to really understand the movie you have to look beyond the actors and the location of the movie and think about the situation that's being presented.

All in all an exceptional film that presents what could have happened in a 'tough love camp', the ignorance of some, the joy of others and the desperate need of freedom after such an experience.

Surrogates (2009)
6/10
Less than I was expecting.
5 November 2009
Well then, I just returned from the cinema and I have to say .. it's been a little disappointing. And when I say a little, I mean totally.

The trailer is alright, but it still doesn't present what really happens in the movie. I won't do any spoilers as I hate when people do that.

First off, the action of the movie has almost nothing to do with the idea. The idea of having a surrogate was what kept me watching, as in, "Ok, let's see how things go." The acting, at least from Bruce Willis was rather good, could have been better, and I'm not talking in the action scenes, I'm talking about the conversation he has with his wife, and his actions, not the action itself.

I gave the movie a 6/10 for the story idea and the acting, but I can't say I liked it as to recommend it further to friends or other people, as seen from my point of view of course. Others may disagree.

Chris.
