The Rat Pack (1998)
"I'm a saloon singer, but I'm not stupid..."
Liotta at his best as "The chairman of the board" A great peek at the life of Mr. S. The movie is a play on headlines over the decades about Sinatra and his "Rat Pack" A great cast and historically correct, although exaggerated for entrainment the movie is a must see for any fan of Sinatra or the Rat Pack ere of entrainment history. Notable is that Liotta was approached about playing Frank in a bio-pic by the Sinatra daughters ,however. When Liotta accepted this role for HBO he is said to have been sent a horse head from the Sinatra daughters, a famous scene from the Godfather movie where a horse head was given to an enemy of the family as a warning. Although the head sent to Liotta was a stuffed toy, the message was there.
Additionally non of the music in the film is actually sung by Sinatra. The budget for the film was not able to afford the rights to the music with Frank's voice.
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Twilight zone
Rod Sterling had a hand in the screenplay and ,some say writing the end scene of the movie. If you are a Twilight zone fan, it all comes together as any Zone should. Additionally you can connect Sterling and McDowell in season one ,episode 25 of the Twilight Zone series, "people are alike all over" 1960. Where McDowell is the captain of a space ship that crashes on the Martian surface to later find that the Martians are just as interesting and intelligent as we all expected and use McDowell as a human specimen on display in a Martian-like zoo on display as an "earth creature". Such is an interesting contrast to the Apes movie. Sterling was a master in his craft physiological deceptions its no wonder that he played a role in the development of this film.
