Anything's Possible (2022)
Decent YA film.
Anything's Possible is a cute young adult film. I think that it has some strengths like the cinematography, the storyline, and the costume design yet the acting falls a little flat for the main characters. Sometimes the lines would be delivered too flat and sounded amateurish. Overall it doesn't distract from too much of the film. I like Billy Porter's direction with the film and thought he tried to show a new type of romance involving a trans teenager and her life. I think the conflict was somewhat realistic but was wrapped up too quickly. I think the movie wanted to be wholesome yet dramatic but it came off as rushed. Long story short, decent film for those who love young adult romance.
The Reading (2023)
So bad
I can't believe I watched all of it. The acting was so so with some parts being good to some parts being bad. The main protagonists were dumb as rocks. Numerous times they could've over powered the antagonist. The villain being psychopathic was just lazing writing to excuse slasher scenes. Irrelevant storylines and pointless medium abilities that did nothing to help the plot. Unanswered questions and bad decisions. Really bad writing at times. And a plot twist that anyone with a brain could've saw coming that's watched horror films. I'm all for b list horror movies but this was so dreadful. Do not recommend.
The School for Good and Evil (2022)
Painful watch
Took too long to get to the point, bad acting, silly costumes, lack luster villain, boring main character that follows her friend(?) like a lost puppy, and corny writing. I tried giving this movie a chance since I like fantasy movies but it was so bad. This movie has an okay message with poor execution. Some scenes are just not necessary and some are even painful to watch. The CGI is meh especially for Netflix, and the setting is enough to look at but other than that, nothing more. It's not even an interesting bad movie. This movie felt like it was missing so much yet was over done. I don't know why and how it got the green light. I'm assuming it is because Netflix wanted to make money off of a fan base once again.
