Used to be funny, but now it's DEPRESSING
12 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In the 90s, when tv was full of luxury (Dynasty, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, 90210) this show made the struggling poor relateable and funny. While most have benefited from better economics 30 years later, the writers are way out of touch, sticking to the same old, we're poor, we're struggling, and we've never gotten ahead. Every episode got worse and more depressing. Nothing good ever happens to them, they've never learned how to turn years of work into a success, even if it were a small one, like the restaurant providing a decent ok living. Dan, after all his years in construction, despite the economic booms in the past 30 years, still unemployed and struggling.... instead of being retired and enjoying his retirement with hobbies. We watch TV shows to be entertained, and we only watch sitcoms so we can laugh. The Connors in 2024 is downright depressing, and the last episode is MY last. I've really, really had it. I think it'll be cancelled anyway, but at least I won't be sad. I loved, LOVED this show when it was funny. But it's such an effin downer all the time, I can't stand it anymore. Last night's episode, talking about DEATH to a child--the ENTIRE episode, Darlene and Becky arguing about how to explain DEATH to a child. Way to lighten our day, there! And the other storyline? Dan and his son-in-law's struggling hardware store got vandalized and robbed. Heaven forbid they show how hard work over the years finally pays off for a family. Nooooooo.... it has to be one depressing downer after another. Journalist becomes a lunch lady, Becky is still struggling as a waitress, living with her family; Dan is as worse off now as he was 30 years ago. NO PROGRESS in their lives. Stuck in the same day to day grind. Love the characters, HATE the depressing writing.

Cigarette commercial disguised as a movie
13 November 2023
I became so intensely DISGUSTED by this so-called movie at the very first scene. It's 2023. Who do you know who smokes anymore? Where is smoking allowed anymore? Yet the opening scene is a young woman sucking on a cigarette so hard, it looks like she's trying to give it a B job. They're oh so young, sexy, and 'healthy, with their bottled water and veggie filled fridge, and they're so, so smart, but they never heard that smoking causes cancer and that anybody with a brain in this day and age has never smoked. But boy, do they ever l9ve their cancer sticks in this movie!!! I am sick to death with movie makers accepting money from cigarette companies and turning them into cigarette commercials. Decide if you want to make movies or be in the smoking industry. One thing this movie has done, is make me draw a line from here on end. Every time I see someone sucking on a cigarette in a movie or TV program, I'm going to turn it off. I refuse to support your attempts to make smoking look glamorous so you can line your pockets. And the movie itself? What movie? It's a cigarette commercial.

Ridiculously far-fetched and ludicrous
29 August 2023
There are so many plot holes, it becomes utterly dimwitted. No spoilers, but if you want to waste 7 hours on this farfetched idiocy, you'll need to pretend common sense doesn't exist.

600 words needed? OK then. This was the stupidest crap posing as suspense. The story is so extremely farfetched and so, so, SO stupid so many times, middle school students could write it better. What dumb, lazy, stupid, nonsense. You really have to turn off any common sense because this series has none. I can't believe the writers of this idiocy got someone to pay them. It's so stupidly written you just shake your head all the way through.

Black Mirror: Demon 79 (2023)
Season 6, Episode 5
1/10
Not worthy of Charlie Brooker's name.
17 June 2023
So right up, I don't believe for a second that Charlie Brooker wrote most of season 6 episodes. His name is listed, but with the exception of the first episode (which was good, not great), season 6 is not worthy of having his name attached. They honestly feel like junior high school assignments, where the material is written by a 14 year old trying his hand at writing a BM episodefor the first time, but Black Mirror is the big leagues, the best of the best. CB should have skipped season 6, rather than have his name attached to this amateur show. Episode one is good (though not great) but the rest of them are just PAINFULLY awful. Seasons 1 through 5 are brilliant. The best of the best. Season 6 is so bad, I felt embarrassed for Charlie Brooker. He sold his name to be placed on very bad, amateur writing.

NOT a fan of next gen actors
12 June 2023
I was SO EXCITED for the next Aurora Teagarden movie. I waited like a child waiting for Santa. I went from super excited to super, SUPER disappointed when I saw all these new, young actors playing the roles. Not impressed with my lump of coal.

Apparently, Ro was a foot taller when she was younger. And somehow, the town was more modern in 1995 than it is in the 2020s.

I really hope someone in the movie making business brings back our favourite actresses in mature roles instead of this fakery. I want so badly to see Candace C Bure, Lori Loghlin, Allison Sweeney in the original roles. I LOVE the original A Teagarden movies, the Garage Sale mysteries, and the Murder She Baked movies. They are the best. This young actors fakery is NOT it by a long shot. I won't watch another if this is the direction they're going.

George & Tammy (2022–2023)
3/10
Horribly miscast and inaccurate.
8 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Being a huge George and Tammy fan, I was so excited to watch this. But after just the first episode, I won't be watching the rest. Michael Shannon is HORRIBLE as George Jones. His acting if fine overall, and his singing OK for an actor, but he embodies NOTHING of the real George Jones. Not his looks, personality or talent, I feel like I'm watching Hank (Williams) and Tammy, not George and Tammy. And the story telling part is so inaccurate and chopped up, that it bears little resemblance to the reality of how and when they really got together. He didn't just show up out of the blue after getting a haircut, to smash her dining table and haul her out of her house! Ugh!! So between a totally miscast leading actor and the nonsensical scenes rather than documented reality, I'm only giving this 2 stars for the nostalgia of George and Tammy. The production itself is a big fat zero disappointment for me. I won't be tuning in for the rest.
