Cool as Ice (1991)
32 years later....Perfection!
In 1991 I would have called this the biggest piece of trash ever produced. In 2023 this is an actual masterpiece for anyone 40-55. It is delightfully Americana. Classic 90's cheese. Vanilla Ice's acting chops are on display here. That's not a compliment but a serious selling point. The old mechanic couple is still my favorite characters in the movie. This movie is truly a treasure that needs to be protected. There are corvettes, motorcycles, action AND adventure! Other movies are Vanilla, this movie is Vanilla ICE! If you're gonna watch another movie take my advice "drpo that zero and get with a hero"! It's so cool it's ice!
Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
If the rating system was for destroying franchises; 10 stars!!
Once again Hollywood has gone and destroyed their own legacy. Insidious was one of those perfectly written and thought-out horror franchises. Characters were killed and returned based on the ingenuity of the writing. The horror was deep and meaningful. I have watched them many of times and picked up on the subtly of it all.
Then came The Red Door. I am truly at a loss for words. It is nothing like the first three and has no meaningful connection to them. It is as though they said "well we can't figure out how to make this make sense so let's just use the name and cash in." It really is a crying shame that there is no pride in Hollywood. It's like an top athlete sticking around way past their prime.
PS My favorite part of this garbage was the lame crusty semen soaked bed sheet comment. Not sure if that was supposed to comedy or horror but you heard me right, that's as good as it's going to get folks.
Boss Level (2020)
Now this was fun!
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. They seemed to have to put a lot of thought into the time loop idea and buttoned up loose ends well. If you have ever played a game from the 80's or 90's and kept doing the same thing over and over until you get the part you got to last time this is that feeling. 12:47 is frustration setting in. You take a break and then get back into it and start figuring out the rules. Groundhogs Day did it with comedy but this little gem did it with action. It's like retrying the game to get all of the endings. This is a highly recommended chill and watch type of movie. And a wonderful reminder of what game makers put into the breadcrumb trail they leave for you to figure out.
Conjuring: The Beyond (2022)
I signed up just give this a 1 star review
These people stole the name Conjuring just to get eye balls on this piece of garbage film. It is the slowest, most poorly acted, piece of garbage ever to be put out as a movie. I am a huge horror fan and can put up with a ton of garbage but this is utter trash. I get it. You have no idea what you're doing so just steal a name and go for it. At least try. I can't fathom how anyone in this movie called their family and said "I'm doing it!" or "I landed a part in an actual movie". For their follow up might I recommend "The Amityville Conjuring, a Child at Play on Elm Street on a Sinister Friday the 13th....... Ouija!!
