An impeccable adaptation of the classic book. A must see at any age.
28 August 2009
First some words:

''You gotta have presence on the court. Presence like a cheetah rather than a chimp. Sure, they both got it, but Chimpy gotta jump his nuts around to get it. The shy cheetah moves with total nonchalance, stickin' it to them in his sexy, slow strut. Me? I play like a cheetah''

That was the lines that kept me talking on and on about this movie. Is magical how some prose and a good close shot can hook you up.

Just like drugs.

Reading the sort story you might think that this is what this movie is all about. Drugs, and another teen movie about how wrong is to use them and stuff. Although partly true, thats not the whole deal. The are lot of references about sex life experiences, the cold war aftermath, life in NYC during the 60's...

I don't find anything more to ''sell'' you, it is probably because some films don't need that..

It's not what you would expect and it's good!

Amazing how even after years proving you wrong you 'll still judge a movie by it's covers. I was expecting a full-on romantic flick with color but not so much story on any based reality. Hell that isn't the deal! The film is funny -not to the extreme- with lines that balance well with the story and the background. The Jordan-Charlie writing is so good that is hard to tell if Elisha is really fitted for the role or if you just like Jordan! During the middle it makes a little curve which in my opinion is due to the fact that the movie is too short in contrast too the story.

It is probably a must see if you are on your 20's.

It also a must see if you like Elisha Cuthbert. You gonna like her even more.

One last thing that made me watch this movie is the fact that Yann Samuell(Jeux d'enfants(2003))directed it. He obviously has his ways with love stories.

This movie ''smells'' like the book...

Probably one of the most accurate book-to-movie adaptations..

Just like the book it drives your mind to a more spiritual less materialized world when words still meant something. Black humor wit and weird situations come along very nicely. Chabon's words live greatly through the script and the narrator thing through the eyes of Michael Douglas is superb. Not to forget the amazing Tobey Maguire whose awkwardness fit perfectly to James Leer.

You will have this feeling of warm loneliness after the end titles. Probably a feel to do some reading. Movies that gonna make you dust off some book and dig into? Not that many.

Even if you already have read the book it won't disappoint.

A must see movie about an era that change so much!

Follows the skateboarding trend at it's rising!

C.Hardwicke takes a great and romantic idea and does the best she can!

The agonising constant camera tilting IS probably the best way to portray a movie about Skate and Surf at the 70's. Grunge feel and the beautiful weirdos of Venice beach as your background.

It has the feeling('s),the looks and the ideas of that era so well displayed by its cast.

It would be the first movie I would recommend to someone who has even the slightest idea about this culture. Not to necessarily if they care about the sport but to see how much this kids changed the way ''it was supposed to be''.

My high rating is a sin I'll not regret. Also the music is superb.
