Interview with the Vampire (2022)
Yes, Louis' origin story is different but I still like it
The origin story is different and set during a different time period than the original. I'm a big fan of The Vampire Lestat books more so than the Interview with the Vampire novel and, so far, Lestat's origin story appears the same. I liked the pace of story and it kept me interested despite not sticking to the book. I understand why they did what they did.
My only regret is the one character trait from the books that I loved - Lestat is neat and elegant. Anne Rice goes into detail about how he takes pride in not spilling blood when he drinks but directors seem to love gore, so blood stained mouths etc.
Quantum Leap (2022)
It's okay but it's not the original...
I was excited to hear about this project and it was okay, but this first episode didn't really get me excited like the first time I watched the original QL pilot.
I think it has potential though. I wanted to see more of the story surrounding Ben -- the way the old series would be mostly set in the past and Al would just pop in now and then. This switches back and forth between the present and past a lot, so I didn't feel like I got involved in the story that Ben was meant to be 'fixing' in the past. The focus seemed to be more centered around the present and Ben's relationship with his wife, etc.
I'll keep watching, hoping my next leap will be the leap home.
Uncoupled (2022)
Love it!
Yes, I get that this doesn't represent all gay men. Just as Sex in the City didn't represent all straight women. I couldn't relate to any of them but it was fun to watch - just like this show was fun to watch. It's called fiction for a reason. If I wanted to watch reality, there are plenty of reality shows and documentaries out there.
