The Peasants (2023)

Absolutely beautiful.

Let me start of with the fact that the visuals are absolutely stunning. Im still shoked that a movie was made with oil paintings and to know its a polish movie fills my heart with pride. The breathteaking views of polish conutryside really filled my heart with joy and nostalgia. The lighting, colors, and placement of everything in each scene was extremely nicely done and helped deliver the movie through visuals. Accompanied by dynamic, imaginative music it was quite the pleasure to watch.

It was such a raw movie, showing off so much polish culture unfiltered. The beautiful and the ugly. Dancing, music, ordinary life with lingering judgment, envy and hate. I have not personally read the original book so i cannot judge this movie in regards to it but im sure its a really good adaptration and ill definitely give the book a read.

Watching the movie you wonder whose in the right and eventually realize that its no one. All characters are flawed in different ways, and thats whats so beautiful and real about this.

Why didnt i give it 10/10? Well as much as i loved it i dont think i fully connected with its story on a personal level, and at moments i couldn't really wrap my head around the plot.

I'm however really confident about this movie going to the Oscars.

I see that most reviews do not share my opinion about this film, but im just a sucker for gangster movies. I really liked the whole concept of revenge. The fight scenes are also pretty niecely done, i found myself enjoying them. The colors were also very intresting, adding a certain vibe which was certainly a plus. Nice plot twist, intresting characters. Gangster/lowlife lifestyle done very cool, i of course dont know how the gangster lifestyle looks in real life but i think it gave an intresting perspective. Nicely done acting too, i felt the rage and all the other emotions with this one. Thats it:)

The plot twists are a bit disappointing. The characters are not really introduced in depth. I don't think i remember half of the characters names. Kill scenes are also disappointing, i was more laughing at them then being scared, becouse they were just done in such a way you cant really take them seriously. I see that there was a concept there. I think if we would have introduced the characters more and gone more into the eerie and bizare behavior then into a disappointing slasher, this could have been really good. Like i would like to see the whole company concept/character interactions develop more so we actually had a better idea why some stuff was happening and what it all meant.

Hear me out, hear me out. The movie was good. I was asking myself what the f all the time but i think there was a lot of beauty in that. Very lovely shots taken in such amazing landscapes, and the "a lot of shots at once" moments were one of my favorites. Its a weird earie story. In many moments crazy and unhinged, but i really enjoyed the ride. It was definitely not what ilI expected... but thats not necessarily a bad thing. I'd also say that the movie was horrific in a lot of ways, but still beautiful. I also adored the sounds and lights, they really helped deliver the movie in a eccentric way.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)

Beautiful retelling of history

I don't normally give 10/10 stars but Openheimer really deserves it. One of the best movies I have seen, and will definitely see again. At first going into it, I'll admit, I was a bit sceptical about a 3 hour movie, but I didn't get bored one bit! A lot of people talk about "boring and long" moments that can be used as a snack break... I don't even know which parts of the movie they mean as i was captivated with every minute of it and would not dream of walking out for even a minute. I loved how this story, this history, was told. I also have to mention that the sound effects hit you like a truck! Of course I have to mention the exceptional performance of each actor that brought those historical figures and events to life again. Extremely recomend.

Im at a loss of words. The movie was so surreal but also very real. I dont even know how to describe it. The shots were really nice. Canada is a very beautiful country. The plot was a little out of place. Definietly to some extent kept you at the edge. You were just waiting with anticipation for the main characters next move, action, lie. Ready to see what the next discovery might be. You cought yourself wondering if he falls into madness and desperation or if he was like this since the beginning. Definietly enjoyed watching it. I think this was a very nice execution of portraying a disturbed character.

American Psycho (2000)

Best movie I've seen

This is my favorite movie. I have seen it countless times. With each one i appreciate it more and more. Christian Bale is one of my favorite actors and he beautifully brings to us the character that is Patrick Bateman. The narration that Patrick gives is worded so perfectly. The insanity of a man has been done so many times but this is it! This is the most perfectly made representation of that. The movie is so bizarre but so beautiful. Even tho it was filmed a long time ago and the equipment wasn't as good as in todays times, it does not put you off one bit. On the contrary, it helps get you into the scene. I really recommend everyone to watch this.

Barbie (I) (2023)

Good but not that good.

The colors, shots, houses, clothes were really amazingly done. Margot and Rayan were amazing, beautiful and acted well. I will say that. I find that the movie wasn't THAT good. The story wasn't as entertaining as it could. This was supposed to be like a childrens show with adult humor and topics but I didnt find most of the jokes funny, i felt like they were just screaming stuff in your face instead of being more subtle. I wish some aspects of the characters and side stories were explored more. The ending was okay but i wished for something diffrent and again more about the side characters. Ken is a cool character i gotta say. He deserves the world and to really find something more about him. So i wouldn't say it was a bad movie, its okay to watch more casually, more so to appreciate the dolls and the nostalgia. I was lowkey dissapointment with all the hype i gotta say.

Ps. I find it weird that this is considered such a "woke" movie but did not mention that boys can play with dolls ONCE. Like cmon I had a Barbie too!

Mother, May I? (2023)

Not what you expected, it's better.

Oh man, what a rollercoaster! This movie doesnt really go in the direction you expect it to and i love it! Lovely scenery and a lot of weird creepy stuff done just right, just the right way. The shots and scenes were amazing and a pleasure to watch. The actress playing the girlfriend did so well!! Its really hard to act as a character on top of being another character. An out of body, not usual behavior for a character is hard to achieve. She did just that. You knew it wasnt her. Watching this you would expect some demons, exorcisms, a lot of blood, gore etc. Wrong! It didnt need that. It was able to achieve such an uneasy, edge of the chair atmosphere without any of that. It was so weird. You just wanted more. The ending? Incredible! Didn't expected it and loved to see it. This movie is such a twisted take on love, which i adored.

Pearl (2022)

Nice visuals... but what else?

Let me start with the fact that the colors and shots were amazing. Chefs kiss. What a pleasure to watch visually. I also have to applaud the actress playing Pearl, it's hard to act not stable and crazy. The clothes, places, etc. Also really nicely visually put us in the story. Thats about it. I mean the plot was nice but i think it was missing something. The kill scenes weren't really enjoyable. I feel like more could have been done. The start of the movie and the ending were really good hover. I just feel like the middle part could have been done differently. So much potential tho!! Overall I think this was, or could have been, an eerie and disturbing movie. Especially the way Pearl was acting i feel like we could have gotten MORE eerie and weird. More drastic. Like the last scenes but throughout the whole movie. In my opinion this movie is kinda over hyped becouse of the fact that the killer is a woman. Basically in my eyes it was just another crazy unstable girl and im lowkey dissapointed.
