I hope they can stick the landing

As someone who loved every single episode from the first 2 seasons...this one has been a struggle for me. Aside from Gene and Hank, I really don't care about any of the characters or their storylines so far. All this stuff with Sally and her show and the streaming executives is putting me to sleep! Fingers crossed they can bounce-back with the next episode.

Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023)
5/10
An OK start...but will Kurtzman sink another Star Trek ship?
24 January 2020
Despite Alex Kurtzman's involvement, the first episode wasn't too bad. Maybe that's because Star Trek Discovery is just monumentally worse by comparison. It's great seeing Patrick Stewart back in the role, there were some nice nods to the past, and some interesting plots setup I hope they don't flush down the toilet in future episodes. It definitely doesn't feel like TNG, but I didn't expect it to. It wasn't perfect, but there was enough here to keep me watching. I just wish Kurtzman would leave Trek alone because I'm constantly gonna be waiting for this all to fall apart as the season progresses.

Creepshow (2019– )

A Very Creepy Start!
28 September 2019
The original Creepshow is one of my all-time favourite horror flicks, but after the disappointment of the Twilight Zone reboot, I was a little nervous about this one. Thankfully this one gets the anthology format right. For starters, the episodes are short and sweet. They're well-written/acted/directed, with plenty of atmosphere and a terrific sense of fun and the macabre. For fans of the first two Creepshow films, and Stephen King in general, there are easter eggs galore! I enjoyed the hell out of the first two stories (especially the doll house ep) and can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.

Wonderfully Entertaining!
3 January 2016
An absolutely fantastic adaptation of one of Agatha Christie's masterpieces. There have been countless film and stage versions produced over the years, but now we finally have something closer to the tone of the original novel. Yes, they've updated it with a few changes (some work, some don't) but overall this is an extremely entertaining miniseries that understands what made the book work so well in the first place.

Everything about this BBC production was pitch-perfect…the casting, locations, cinematography, atmosphere, music. It was a terrific visual representation of how I pictured everything in my head when first reading the book. I was also extremely happy to see we finally have an English language version that keeps the book's original ending!

Running almost three hours long means they've added some padding to the source material, but there's no denying what a wonderfully gripping and suspenseful murder mystery this is. Great performances, terrific production values and filled with a constant sense of dread and paranoia. This is Agatha Christie done properly and gets my highest recommendation.

Big Nothing (2006)
2/10
Pointless and Humorless
10 July 2007
It must take talent to make a movie with Simon Pegg and not be able to produce a single laugh. A pointless black comedy that's only objective is to make things worse and worse for the main characters by introducing a number of ridiculous and predictable plot twists. If you've seen Very Bad Things then you've seen this movie. It starts off nicely enough and introduces some likable characters, but it goes absolutely nowhere and seems to think rolling out one silly plot twist after another makes for a good movie. As unfunny as the movie is, it's at least watchable for the first two acts....but in the third get ready to be let down big time. It goes downhill so fast you won't know what hit you. There are so many plot holes your head will spin. By the end you'll just be bored, ticked off and confused. This is literally one of those movies that has no progression. This movie is the meaning of the word pointless. I think all the good reviews on here have come from the director's friends. Note to future directors.....don't make Simon Pegg talk with a god awful American accent as it renders him humorless.
