Moondance (1994)
Blue Ink and Wine
This is truly a great movie. The not so original idea of two brothers falling in love with the same woman and a young boy's first encounter with the (delicious) complications of love and sex are very brightly shown in "Moondance". Add to this a very intense - but not aggressively explicit - sensual atmosphere that reaches its climax in the scene Dominic and Anya play with, er..., some blue ink (definitely one of the sexiest scenes I've ever seen!) and great Van Morrison music and you've got a movie that is really a wonderful experience. So my suggestion is: get a bottle of good wine, find good company and enjoy this movie!
Coyote Ugly (2000)
Not exactly original, but...
Fine, there's absolutely no originality in the sweet-girl-meets-cute-guy story, so do not expect any surprises from this movie: it is predictable and you can see exactly where and how the story is going to end. There's no great acting either: Perabo is OK playing the small town girl having a hard time trying life in New York City, and Garcia's Aussie accent is funny (if not very convincing). Well, so far, nothing really exciting about Coyote Ugly... but WAIT A MINUTE! The girls dancing at the bar, the crowd cheering, the music! Wow, it makes you feel like being there! Those people can party! I say if you are of legal age for drinking, go get this movie!!! And then, when you think it can't get any better, John Goodman dances on the counter! Come on, see it and have some fun.
Friends & Lovers (1999)
Nice...
Ok, ok, this is not a masterpiece. There are thousands of "good" movies and this one is certainly not one of them. But come on! If you rent a video like this you are NOT expecting any intellectual experience or to see award-winning performances (fine, you don't expect to see pointless frontal nudity, either. I've got to give you that). "Friends and lovers" was perfect to help me spend two hours of my time I had nothing better to do with. If that's your case, then rent the video - it can be funny of you don't expect too much.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Boring
It's not a bad movie, but it doesn't live up to all the commotion. "Lord of the rings" has great effects, the cast does a great job (mostly) and all those dollars were well spent. The problem is that the movie takes itself way too seriously! It's too dense and too long. I was about to fall asleep when the 235th seven-headed monster came out of the dark spitting flames to (once again) try to kill everyone. You know, they should have given Godzilla a little part! Boring, boring, boring...
