Spoorloos (1988)
It's a good horror and thriller for insomnia
First things first: don't watch this film unless you need some background noise to fall asleep. Then it's worth it. It's a horror for insomnia because this movie can beat your sleeping problems.
The first 40 minutes were a struggle for me not to fall asleep. That's not usually my thing when watching a movie. The whole plot is very unrealistic. Imagine running away from a murderer, police officers come to help you, and suddenly you change your mind and just kill yourself. That's the kind of logic the plot follows. Or imagine blindly placing Tetris blocks.
After 50 minutes, I fast-forwarded to the end, and what can I say? It was so worth it. The plot and the ending of the film were one of the most nonsensical things I have ever experienced in my life. I can't understand the hype around the film or its categorization as a horror or thriller. It's more like a good sleep aid.
Civil War (2024)
Wrong Titel, overload of questions
The movie leaves many question marks. Those who are looking for a war film will be disappointed. The title is pure clickbait. It's like watching a film with the name "The Brutal Battles of World War II," but in the two hours of the film, it's only about how a farming family can sell their potatoes better.
Here, it's just about the press and journalists portrayed as rats searching for the pantry. The film itself is really well-made. Although there are almost exclusively scenes that are absolutely unrealistic and truly incomprehensible, the film has a certain neutrality. Such a sensitive topic has been well processed into a film and written in a way that neither of the current sides in the USA (extreme left and extreme right) can polarize. Maybe that's why there are no backgrounds to the civil war, but that is also the big problem in this film. Why are the two states fighting against the US government? What about the other states? How does the world react to it? Why are so many war crimes committed? It is highly likely that even in a civil war, the USA is a country where certain rules are followed, and executing the US president is absolutely unrealistic. I also can't understand the ending where he is still sitting in the White House, and not even in a secure room. The scene where the older colleague dies from a gunshot wound is also not even remotely understandable. With the gunshot wound, the younger journalist should have been hit as well, or they should have noticed the impact of the projectiles. Then the scene where the young journalist goes into the middle of the firing line is more than questionable.
In summary, it can be said that the scenes in the film were well portrayed, but the story and character development are absolutely poor. The film leaves many question marks, so it's not worth investing your time in it. However, it accurately reflects the crisis in the film industry. There is simply a lack of willingness to create films that leave the audience satisfied.
The production cost $50,000,000, which is like buying a huge unfinished mansion for $50,000,000.
Wind River (2017)
The shooting scene is the biggest trash I've seen in my life
The movie itself is very good, but the shootout at the end involving the deputies and security personnel is overly dramatic and absolutely disturbing. However, what I find even worse is the entire plot of the shootout itself. It doesn't always have to be portrayed realistically, but some level of intelligence should be incorporated into the scene. Let's start with the FBI agent. Even a piece of bread has more intelligence and competence than the FBI agent portrayed in the film. Who would stand directly in front of the door when the person behind it could be armed? Then she gets shot and lies on the ground like a piece of bread watching the calm asmr of dying people. Great performance, congratulations.
And then the shootout itself. People are shooting wildly, but considering the amount of ammunition both parties have and the height of the gun barrels, everyone should be so severely wounded that this scene could never happen. Even when the police officer was on the ground, he was mentally alert and awake. You don't change a magazine in your sleep, yet he allows himself to be shot. What nonsense.
After, of course, all the "good" guys are shot and brutally slaughtered, our competent main character in his snowsuit finally gets the idea to intervene. Congratulations, but the game is already over.
For me, it's frustrating because the movie itself is really good, but this scene simply ruins everything because not a single brain cell was used for such an important scene.
American Rust (2021)
Season 2 is awful
This series is simply a work of failed scripts. Even a children's book has more logic than what I had to watch there.
Season 1 was pretty good, but Season 2? What the hell did I just watch? An evil oil company causing havoc with contract killings, a police chief who is totally obsessed with pursuing a theory and surpasses all sects with his beliefs, and building model houses?
The season had so much potential, but it was just a jumble where they tried to cram multiple stories into one season and mixed everything up into a series. Come on, it feels like cooking in the midst of the greatest hunger and throwing a bit of everything found in the kitchen into the pot. In the last episode, they put the blender on high speed, and then there's the nice surprise at the end. Definitely not worth watching this series.
Maybe they should take more time to write the scripts and bring some more structure to the whole thing. But cramming everything together just to fit it into 10 episodes is really painful to watch.
Stöld (2024)
Just another disappointment on Netflix
It's always the same with the new Netflix movies. Weak storyline, dumb actions in the film, and a lot of untapped potential. What's going on? I just don't understand.
A group of people kills and tortures animals (reindeer) and the police turn a blind eye. A little girl sees everything but doesn't say anything. Then it gets exciting, and guess what happens? Nothing.
The description sounds like a thrilling thriller, but it's somehow more like a documentary about one's own failure. If she knew exactly who the reindeer killer was, why didn't she take action earlier? There are so many ways to find such people and gather evidence. Policemen who say, 'No, we can't do anything about bloodstains,' and when the word 'climate change' was mentioned, I just quickly finished watching the film.
What remains is, once again, an ending that breeds dissatisfaction and a film that simply wastes time.
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Disappointing
First of all this is a good movie if you are on a long flight or train trip or for a long bus trip I mean 3 hours? That's a massive piece of time.
I watched it on an 8 hours train trip and I'm glad I did watch it there! It filled so much of my boring time there. And that's the point about this movie. If you plan a movie that goes over 3 hours it should be exciting and good. But this movie is in my opinion just trash. The topic of this movie is far in the history and for me as an European pretty unclear and hard to understand.
So we have this bad family that wants to murder all those native Americans because of their money, always successful in their dirty things then suddenly investigation happens and justice? Nope not really. The ending was a huge disappointment like the whole movie. There are so many better ways to sell the story for me as a watcher. If you have some really really perfect actors in your cast, it should be possible to make a nice movie out of this idea.
If you waste 3 hours of your lifetime then you should not get this feeling all over the watching time or the ending like "why?" "what the hell?" "Whyyyy?????" But it's just another movie like many others during the last years and also like many TV shows that let you back disappointed.
Boy Swallows Universe (2024)
What is wrong with series at the moment?
First of all, I've got the feeling by watching many series on Amazon prime, Netflix and so on, they're mostly unsatisfying.
There are so many series that got so much potential and have a nice acting but the storyline is pretty frustrating and strange. You can call it stranger series 2020s.
This TV show is a nice example for my unsatisfied watching. The story is awesome. The acting is awesome. But some actions are so strange. Like at the last episode. When they had the chance to kill the murder as he fells of his motorcycle, why they didn't kill him with the car? Why?
That was the point where this whole series got destroyed because the last actions after this incident it just got frustrating. Also why the hell did the younger brother when he was hurt so much mistakes? If I get stabbed like this I definitely wouldn't run upside in the building. The normal biological reaction would be running outside to the cops and also why did other people didn't stop this idiot stabbing?
Also why the hell in the middle of the show, why did the older brother waste all the money? That's strange at all. But that's a point with many tv shows at the moment. They add strange actions in the show, nobody even my dog wouldn't react or do stuff like this just to fill some gaps. They get so much paid for their jobs. It's not a hard thing to add some less frustrating gaps or try to make better actions. It doesn't needs always a good ending. A bad ending is nice too. But it's hard to enjoy a show when so much stupid actions and handling happens and you just think wtf? The sense of watching TV shows is enjoying them and have a nice and good memory of it. Not sitting there and thinking "why did I waste so much time for this?"
Deep State (2018)
It could be awesome
First of all I can say that deep state is a nice show. But the writing of the episodes is just trash.
I've never had so much frustrating on a TV show. Everytime you see the bad people there getting away and always away. In the end of season one and two you experience such a frustration. The TV show creates such an hate to many characters and in the ending things are going to a good way and getting some justice and suddenly bam it doesn't work.
The bad guys always getting away with their stuff. At the end everything just stays like it was before. It's worth watching this show but you will be frustrated at the end. If you compare it to homeland they handelded it on many ways better. If a season ends you get some open questions, potential for waiting for the next season and so on. But you get satisfied because there is some nice closure as and ending of the season.
In Deep State it's just frustrating because there is no justice and some strange kind of acts. There are no open questions where you will think about. You won't ask yourself "what is with character X or character Y" you will ask yourself what the hell did you waste so much time for getting an not open end but it's not worth watching it. You can watch episode one and the last episode and then you can explain the whole story without any questions.
Dog Gone (2023)
It hurts, it just hurts
The story is really simple, easy to understand and pretty boring.
As a dog owner it just hurts watching this movie and the ending is not really deserved. Also the dog setting to a hunt on foxes is just... I can't describe my anger about that.
As a dog owner you have so much responsibility. In my opinion such an irresponsibility doesn't deserve a movie. It's not a big family story, it's just reckless behavior and a bad story. There are so many ways which could've been better to describe such situations. A lost dog, family drama...
Hopefully I'm not the one only one with that opinion. And hopefully such a story never find its way to a movie.
I Came By (2022)
I came by and left pretty fast
This movie has so much potential to be a good thriller to watch.
But in every movie should be some kind of logic. This movie hasn't any of it. There's so much that went wrong. The mom of the missing boy who found the dark secrets in the house is one of the main characters. But just dies pretty strange. In the end the hero, the best friend of the missing boy has enough time to spray hurt a graffitied message on the wall. But can't even hit someone with a cricket paddle. What?
With more story and better thinking the movie could've been pretty awesome. But it's just another failure of Netflix. It's really disappointing.
Echoes (2022)
The question that's left. Who is who?
Well the most annoyingly part of this series was the sheriff in my opinion.
The idea of this story is good. But watching those episodes were like listening to someone and reading a book at the same time. So many stuff, so many information, it's so hard to watch and follow at the same time.
Anatomy of a Scandal (2022)
Good in the beginning toxic in the ending
Actually it was a pretty good tv show. It started out well but in the end it was just toxic. I mean it handles about a important ethically question about a topic that's really important. But the handling is so bad and the end is even worse. I can describe it with words since English isn't my main language.
