Designated Survivor (2016)
We absolutely loved it!
This series brought up many real life issues in America, that need to be addressed...as soon as we are able to. This will definitely be a challenge due to the nature of "human nature".
The Principles of Pleasure (2022)
Let's make consensual love, not war!
What would happen if we all made respectful, pleasurable and consensual love in this world, instead of war?
My husband and I sat and watched the three episodes together, and absolutely loved it. We both grew up in cultures that were highly restrictive, and mentally and emotionally unhealthy.
I have often said, "If I could change one thing on this planet it would be to eradicate erroneous thinking about religion." To which I now add, ditto for sex. I didn't realize how widespread the negativity is about women's sexuality. Seems to be a literal undercurrent on this planet that infects pretty much everybody, at birth.
Windfall (2022)
Wasted our time...
My husband and I sat through this hoping (in quiet desperation as it turns out), that despite a slow start, for an interesting mid-point, and an ending with a twist or two. Didn't happen.
We watch a lot of movies but this was definitely not our cup of tea.
If you love the actors themselves then give it a try. Maybe? The acting wasn't bad, just not an interesting story.
Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. (2022)
More than a cautionary tale...
I feel we do need to see stories like this one, and Inventing Anna and The Tinder Swindler, because unfortunately many women are (still) being duped and scammed into giving up personal power for financial security, and/or romantic love, or just not being alone in this world.
Even the most intelligent people have a blind spot, or two. While watching the Netflix documentary, I (unfortunately) could personally relate to so much of it. I, too, did many of those kinds of things in relationships, and in hindsight am still asking, "Why on earth did I do that? How is it that I had so little self-respect as to go along with that? Why did I for one minute believe and buy into that?"
I feel it's crucial to drill down into our core beliefs (conscious and unconscious) and find out what contributed to us becoming adults who make choices (in some areas of our lives while being hugely successful in other areas) that are not in our own, or anyone elses, best interests.
From my personal viewpoint on life this story does seem like it was predestined, or as if by pre-arrangement...for whatever reason.
Compassion.
