Kelce (2023)

Triumphs and Tears
30 December 2023
I loved this documentary. It gives all the action and all the feels of behind the scenes of the NFL and a family. In a world of dark bad news its absolutely intoxicating to watch these amazing people interact, live, love and ponder their futures. Kylie Kelce is the standout. A natural raving beauty she is a pillar of strength and balance in this rough and tumble world. Its heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. Both Jason and Travis need to get out and retire on top of the game while they're in one piece. Jason, god help him is a broken man. Its obvious in every scene. I hope this is the last season.

Beckham (2023)

Extraordinary Beyond Words
9 October 2023
I absolutely loved every minute of this captivating series. I've always admired David Beckham from afar but honestly didn't know much about history. What a story! I had NO idea of what he went through. Furthermore, I had a somewhat negative opinion of his wife Victoria until I got the whole picture. She's a strong amazing woman. As a couple , especially a celebrity couple they are everything anyone should aspire to. The series footage is outstanding drawing you in deep. The corresponding interviews with David are at times heartbreaking as he fought back tears reliving tough parts of his life. I teared up many times and as the series came to a close I felt sad. I didn't want David or Victoria to go. An auspicious production across the board.

An Uplifting 4 Hanky Tear Jerker

I needed to see this today. I've been dealing with chronic back pain that has greatly impacted my life. After watching this show I realize I have no problems at all. None. This moving show about injured and disabled servicemen and women who competed at the 2022 Invictis Games is something everyone should see to put their own "problems" in perspective. Prince Harry is a complex but clearly amazing person for being so pationate about something so incredible and life changing for these brave heroes. The production values are excellent. Well directed. Focused. Unforgettable. It tells you the world we live in that anyone could "hate" a show like this.

Sons of Anarchy (2008–2014)
10/10
A Shakespearean Masterpiece on a Harley
1 September 2023
I'm quite late to the Sons of Anarchy hoopla. Better late than never. Quite frankly, Sons of Anarchy is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Charlie Gunman soars as Jax and leads a cast of extraordinary actors including Katie Sagal, Maggie Siff, Theo Rossi and Ron Pearlman. One of the shows most exciting fact is the creator, Kurt Sutter ---who is an absolute genius--was also Executive Producer, writer, director AND cast member p!aying Otto to which he deserved the Emmy. To my knowledge I dont know a show where kne individual wore so many hats. The show delivers all the action one would expect but at its core its a show about family, loyalty, belonging and ultimately betrayal. I watched the entire seven seasons in two weeks and during that time I was obsessed right up until the harrowing finale. The show stayed with me, and will continue to occupy a space in my head for a long time. Its my hope Mr Sutter resolves his issues with the studios involved in production to bring us he prequels and sequels a show this outstanding show warants.

A Big Sweeping Epic Adventure
1 September 2023
Black Sails is a big sweeping epic adventure that I almost didn't see. After getting a strong recommendation I tried to get into it but couldn't get past the first three episodes. To me they were unbearable and almost unwatchable. 21st century language and slang, gratuitous sex and nothing to hold my interest. Almost a year later with nothing to watch I read a Reddit thread about the show and that many viewers hated these early episodes too. So, I gave it another try. I'm so glad I did! In my opinion the show picks up in episode 4 and 5 and doesn't let go. The outstanding acting lead by Toby Stephen, Luke Arnold, Hannah New and Zach MC Gown is stupendous. The setting and cinematography is magnificent. During the few weeks I was watching I thought of nothing else. It was all consuming and when it ended I was truly exhausted and spent. I hope they continue the story with a remake of Treasure Island.

Dear Edward (2023)

Astounding On Every Level
12 March 2023
Dear Edward digs its heels into your emotions and doesn't let go. From the creative genius of Jason Katmins of Friday Night Lights (And My So Called Life) fame based on the novel of the same name it is a tightly interwoven journey of grieving and self discovery. The acting is outstanding. Connie Britton is a triumph in possibly her greatest role ever. I found myself choked up in nearly every episode. Colin O'Brian the amazing Edward of the title is an actor to watch. The rest of the cast add texture and brevity like one big deep, rich nourishing pot of soup that will warm your hands and your tortured soul.

Formally Critical Now A Supporter
29 December 2022
I was not a fan of Meghan prior to this docuseries. In fact I was one of her vocal critics. "Harry & Meghan" changed my mind completely. Its a beautifully produced and directed series with excellent production values. I learned a great deal about the couple and what they've had to endure. I found it both heartfelt and heart breaking. Meghan Markle might not be perfect but she's not the monster she's been made out to be. She's A good person and a great mother. She's obviously intelligent which is why many dislike her. This series begs us to ask serious questions about ourselves and of the vicious UK media. No one should have to be subjected to the abuse this couple has.

Absolutely Phenomenal
5 December 2022
I'm currently binging Friday Night Lights a second time. I fondly recall how outstanding it was during its initial run. Now, over a decade later I find that its actually better. Quite simply, Friday Night Lights is one of the greatest TV shows of all time. Its like watching real people in their real lives. You care about them. They're like friends. The writing, direction and acting pull at every emotion. Peter Berg the creator is a genius. Coming back to revisit this incredible show is like coming home. To relive you're best childhood experiences. A big shout to Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.

What a great little film.
6 June 2022
I love being surprised. With My Dead Dad I totally was. It has all the working parts of a film festival champion. The lead Pedro Correa is sensational. Even more so because this film was his baby. I loved the home movie footage best. It was really believable. The acting is good, the direction simple yet nuanced. I loved it.

Extraordinary
6 June 2022
I was truly surprised by this extraordinary film. I wasn't expecting much so what was delivered was profound. The acting is outstanding. This "action" thriller chooses nuance and atmosphere over in your face cliches which we've seen again and again. The flashbacks are first rate. The young actor for sure will be seen again in a big way. I felt the tension every minute and was engrossed till the very end.

Absolutely Extraordinary

What a surprise!

This slow burning drama set in 1947 Paris is truly a gem. Twice I stopped thinking its too slow and going no place fast. However, I am happy I went back because once the story is set it becomes a tawdry uproar. A glossy prime time soap without being over the edge. Great acting and writing. I am happy they made this a limited series instead of ruining it with endless seasons. They left it in such a way where you're imagination can go anywhere you want. Bravo.

Seriously Who Cares?!

Can anyone care about this? The hype and subsequent yawn fest is not to be believed. Horrendous. Bad acting. Bad writing. Bad director. Just bad. Its really concerning that anyone actually sat down and thought this was a good idea.

Power Book II: Ghost (2020–2024)

Power Light
3 May 2022
I loved Power. The story continues (literally) here with cheaper production with less experienced actors. (Cheaper) Still, I came to like this spinoff despite the fact that the lead isn't a very good actor. "Tariq" sleep walks through almost every scene. In almost every episode his scene (with better actors) is interrupted abruptly by his cell phone ringing ( like real life) with a text that appears on screen. This is followed by his stock line "Sorry, I gotta take this" This happens over and over and over with practically the entire cast. Next most annoying line is "You gotta trust me" followed by " I got you" It grows tedious. I love Mary J. Blige but she is not an actress and shouldn't have been thrust into a pivotal role she can't handle. " I said what I said" is her repetitive line. The show is best when its dealing with the human condition rather than overly done shoot outs. Melanie Liburd is the shows stand out actress as Carrie. She is breathtakingly beautiful and gives a nuanced performance. Method Man is amazing as well. If you don't have high expectations and take this for what it is (and isnt) you'll enjoy the ride.

Tried and True Return To Old Friends
3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Only a scrooge could find fault with this latest update on familiar friends eggs Crawleys. Its a tried and true formula that's worked and continues to do so. Julian Fellows and producers aren't looking to break new ground here. It is what fans know it is. Nothing more nothing less. I loved it.

When liberals Make A TV Series
20 March 2022
This show was good in the beginning. Great actually. Until the powers that be turned the show into a mouthpiece for their woke leftist agenda and it became just unwatchable. Adding to that is the unbearable Chrissy Metz and her poor me my life is sad that's why I'm obese con game. Im.happy to see the show is ending.

A Masterpiece I Will Never Forget.
19 March 2022
This is one of those shows you pass by over and over looking for the next great binge. I don't remember why I finally said "ok" but once I did I didnt get off the sofa for 8 hours. Its simply extraordinary on every level. Writing, acting, direction. It captivated me in such a way I could barely talk when it finally ended. Many fans keep the fire going for more seasons but I think it ended exactly how it should of. Its a show ill never forget. Ever.

Magnificent. A Crowning Achievement.
7 March 2022
This little known gem was both a surprise and extraordinary. The two leads acting performance was flawless. The writing, direction and cinematography is both beautiful and effortless. What sets this series apart is the use of the characters native languages, French and German (English subtitles) its a breathtaking production..
