Mellangkollia (2021)
Clever, engaging story with Higher Math as plot strategy
It is so rare that a movie makes accessible esoteric learning. The fundamental of thr screenplay is unique, well thought out. Calculus is the foundation of numbers(?)". The connection between the leads and later all the characters is an unresolved, impossible problem just as are unresolved mathematical theorems....
But, I found perhaps in an effort to give many of the supporting cast a larger role, the story wobbles. 12 episodes parred to the essential ideas would have served everyone.
The ML was perfectly cast. Hiis character is the most developed. We understand his struggles. The FL is lovely in the first episodes, but her character falls into a too predictable morose. She was lost to me..
Our Blues (2022)
Korea actors, directors have mastered the 'small' story.
In the in the 1960's French filmakers created masterpieces centered around interactions of famiy's, their villages. They were perfectly nuanced, true. Korea has taken over the genre . Netflix has presented these to a global market and I am grateful. Korea has incredible actors, writers, directors... to me a KO is step beyond US, China, Japan...on the par or better than Britain, Scandinavia.
Each actor in 'Our Blues' is spot on. Hard to favor one over another, but Lee Byung Him(?) des Qqq a masterful job. Compare this role to his restrained, disciplined Officer in Mr. Sunshine . Here he plays, an angry manchild, unable to form a meaningful connection to others.
