The Steps (2015)
Was OK, then got worse. Not really funny.
So, it started off OK. And I mean just OK. I liked where the characters were going. But then, it got to a situation where BULLYING and ASSAULT was involved. AND allowed by BOTH parents no less. As well as allowed by the family members. It's not acceptable. And not funny.
The acting was decent. Jason Ritter was pretty good. I liked Christine Lahti. Halfway through the movie, they were the stand outs for me.
After the halfway mark, the movie got even worse and made me regret thinking there was hope. Maybe the best thing about the movie was that amazing house they filmed in and the scenery / location.
The Gray Man (2022)
Got worse and worse as it went on
The beginning was ok. But then it kept getting worse.
My biggest concern with action flicks is when there is no story and no believable characters. At least with Jason Borne, he has some kind of jacked up system that explains how he can survive most things that would kill any normal human.
Also, we don't care about the characters. There is no connection. So, we don't care if ANYONE dies in this movie. The main characters, the extras. Who cares?
But since the movie is like a video game, it doesn't matter if they die. Just re-start the game. That's what this movie seems like to me. A big video game. That is boring as each map changes.
The Lost City (2022)
Would not recommend
Bad rip off of Romancing the Stone. There was no chemistry between Sandra and Channing. The PR character was not needed. The after-credit scene was like most of the movie, not funny. As much as Sandra is a bit of a one-note actress, she's good at what she does. But she grated a bit here as well. The best thing that this movie did as others had mentioned, is highlight how hard it is to be an actor and make me see Brad Pitt in a different light. I feel he is a bit one-note too. But he shines in this movie. There is something about him that made me want to watch him. He was funny. He made the character interesting. When he and Sandra were together, those scenes were interesting and the chemistry was on point.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Is there something stronger than Vodka, please?
Gave it 1 star for locations, 1 star for costumes/ make-up/ cinematography. 1/2 star for initial plot idea set-up but then the execution from the first 10 minutes went south fast and stayed in the pits of hell. So the 1/2 star got taken away. I suppose the acting was ok.
Just terrible characters. Nobody to root for. Incredibly, inplausible elements from minute to minute. I can only suspend so much disbelief. I wanted EVERYONE to die. And I didn't get my wish fulfilled. I'm mad at myself for not stopping after episode 1, 2, 3... 6, 7. I just wanted to see it to the end and had hopes it might get better. But, it never did. It stayed in hell. Just a terrible series. I cannot recommend this unless you want to cause yourself more pain.
