Terrible sound
3 February 2023
The acting wasn't too bad, if you actually hear what they were saying that might have helped.

I'm not sure who is supposed to watch and listen to the final cut but they must have fallen asleep. The background obnoxious music is so loud and overwhelming that half the time you can't hear a word the actors are saying. And at times the voices are echoing.

I had to actually use closed captioning to know what was going on.

Some of the dialogue seemed too rehearsed and mechanical.

Typical police Captain who yells too much, complicated relationships, ok storyline but again, the entire movie is overpowered by the bad sound mix and is not enjoyable because you need closed captioning to know what's being said.

The actors get into scuffles without even messing up their hair. A little too made up.

Too much yelling
25 January 2023
After having this on my watch list for some time, I wish I would have skipped it.

I like Adam Sandler and he's a good actor but you will either like this movie or hate it.

I didn't care for it, besides all the chaos, which is most of the point of the story, I couldn't stand all the yelling. He has a serious gambling problem, his life is a mess and he makes bad decisions, one after another.

I wanted to turn it off after about 30 minutes but tortured myself and watched the whole thing.

I'm not sure why so many people are surprised when comedic actors can do serious parts, after all, they are actors.

The Innocents (2021)

Disturbing
22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I think Ben and Ida were evil to begin with, Aisha and Anna were the actual innocents.

In the beginning Ben and Ida are torturing a cat and Ben kills it, Ida is pinching her autistic sister, Ben is even more sadistic in his treatment of his mother and others around him, causing serious injuries and death.

Aisha and Anna are kind and sweet girls. It is sweet the way Aisha interacts with Anna and teaches her to speak again.

The children in this movie are very good actors.

The movie has intense build up of tension and foreboding, the feeling of something bad is going to happen, again and again and it does happen.

Ben takes revenge on everyone that has ever slighted him in the least.

If children actually had these powers, we'd all be dead.

Dull and mindless
13 September 2022
While I do like a good science fiction film and mystery. As it took 10 years to create this film, I felt it also took 10 years to watch it. Mindless scenes of driving around and almost no dialogue.

If you like seeing Scarlet Johansson naked, then just fast forward to those parts because you aren't missing anything. I do like Scarlet as an actress but this film is not her best, far from it.

Scotland is beautiful but other than that, this was pointless.

I made it through 10 minutes before fast forwarding waiting for something interesting to happen.

I read the people who got into the van weren't actors and were only told they were in a movie afterwards. I guess that's a clever way to get real reactions but still couldn't help this film from dragging on and on.

Lighthearted humor
14 July 2022
I really like Melissa McCarthy movies and Mike & Molly, this is a lighthearted, adult comedy, fun and amusing but not the best I've ever seen.

Kind of a mix of "The Office" and "Touched by an Angel" in a weird way.
