The Final Destination (2009)

Alright just got back from seeing this one in 3D. I will keep this simple. Not very good at all. Acting, storyline, even the 3D was not special. This movie has run its course. Keep in mind I knew before hand what to expect but it still was not good. It felt like the Epic movie, Date movie of the horror genre. Don't get me wrong I enjoy mindless movies that help pass the time. But the movie needs to at least make you care about it. Actors need to try, not just phone in the work. Well either way I feel it was the worst of the four and hopefully the final one. If you feel the need to go see it good luck and hopefully it isn't as bad for you!!

1408 (2007)

First Vacancy now this, I'm never leaving my bedroom!

I got to see 1408 today and I must say I was not disappointed. The movie had a terrific pace to it and it made it you feel like you were a part of the action. Thankfully the movie looked sharp and crisp and with limited cgi. This horror movie is definitely more of a psychological thriller than a pure gore flic so you are never quite sure which direction it is headed. Mr. Cusack and Mr. Jackson both did a terrific job acting which help sell the story. I was entertained and I highly recommend this movie. I hope that horror movies stay on this track and continue to be more than just blood and guts. Respect the audience and we will pay to see your flics

Next (2007)

Hopefully the Next movie I see is better than this!

Finally got around to see Next today during the matinée hours. I had been looking forward to this flic since it opened. Hadnt heard much about it but the plot seemed interesting and Cage is usually pretty good. I must be honest and say the movie bored the crap out of me. Not as bad as redline but still a very slow and uneventful movie. Nothing about it grabbed a hold me and made me want to care about it. The way it just prodded along with little emotion and cgi that wasn't too hot, made this seem like it was over a two hour movie. I'm still trying to understand who the terrorists were and why they were doing what they were. To enjoy a movie you need to care about the cast and get the feeling you are with them for the ride and unfortunately Next had me walking out of the theater unhappily saying next!

Hot Fuzz (2007)

Move over Bad Boys Angel is in town!

Hot Fuzz was a fun movie to watch. An action comedy that aims to please without taking itself so seriously. It starts off quickly by catching the audience up to where and how Angel the lead character got to where he is. The first half is more about clever joke set ups and letting us learn about Sanford and its townspeople. The second half is where the action kicks in and doesn't stop to the end. Along the way you get treated to some terrific detracting and the actors get you to believe their stories. Overall I thought it was a great movie with plenty of laughter and action to please almost anyone. If only all movies could be made this well!

Vacancy (2007)

Nothing but Sheraton's for me from now on

Got to see Vacancy this weekend and for once the wife tagged along. I must say that the movie was well made. It has been awhile where you can actually picture a horror movie being realistic. No zombies, ghosts or other iconic cold blooded killers like a Jason or Mr. Myers. Instead I was brought back to my youth where I can clearly remember staying in a motel like this one. Run down looking, filthy room and crazy looking staff. Back then I had no choice, today I doubt I would ever stop at a motel like that. Back to the movie though, I enjoyed how it cut right to the point and did not feel the need to go around killing everyone just to do it. Instead they gave a little feedback into the main characters threw in a reason to stay at the motel and watched the two of them reconnect again. No real need to go into much more detail - just enjoy the ride. And always have AAA just in case.

Redline (2007)

Okay so I went into this movie not really expecting much I figured an action flick similar to The Fast and the Furious. Some nice cars some nice girls somewhat of a decent plot. Unfortunately I would have to say that this was probably the worst movie I have seen this year. Don't get me wrong the cars were nice and the girls were OK but the way they put the movie together was just plain crappy to put it nicely. The story just never made you care about the cast and the movie seemed just pieced together. So overall this movie was not the worst thing ever by far but if your looking for a movie to go to this weekend I would pass on this one for now.
