Unspeakable (2019)
Compelling
Just a couple episodes in, this is a surprisingly compelling document of the underreported and misunderstood story of the tainted blood crisis. Well acted and directed, Unspeakable is basically a period piece, accurately evoking early 80s Canada.
Olympus (2015)
Olympus Will Draw You In (If You Let It)
Olympus is based in a world of its own.
This digitally painted world does not not aspire to realism anymore than movies like Sin City do. Its aesthetic is entirely unique and although some viewers may find this jarring, it rewards repeated viewing.
Once you accept and acclimate to the digital landscape (that is actually pretty cool) strong performances and deft storytelling will pull you into a world of Greek mythology that manages to strike a balance between fun pulp and real drama.
After just one episode, it is clear that Olympus is an ambitious show. I'm interested to see where it takes us.
