Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)

80's Baby that Appreciates this Fresh Take

I was born in '82 and grew up on the Ninja Turtles.

While this is different than what I grew up on, it seems to have grown up with me. Stylistically it's a lot of fun.m and the cast of voice actors is awesome.

Music is a big part of this take on the TMNTs and it hits the mark for, again, what I grew up on while keeping it fresh and with the times. The one thing that can be slightly distracting is that the entire film is noisy due to the music and sound effects, making it a bit difficult to hear at times. That said, it still flows great with the overall style of their take on this film.

Overall I'm a big fan. Take my 10 rating with a grain of salt, as I tend to drop them for any movies I plan to rewatch a couple of times. This won't be for everybody. Keep an open mind and be prepared for them happy chuckles.

A fresh take that I'm looking forward to more of.

Bodyguard (2018)

More than just a 6 Episode Mini Series!

We all know that feeling when we see there's only going to be 6 episodes in a series. We instantly know that if it's any good we're going to want more.... We're going to need more. Such is not the case here.

Bodyguard was excellent. Every episode was jam packed as to leave me feeling like I'd watched 2 or more for each hour. I had to keep checking back to see what episode I was on, as it felt like I was so much further along. I will simply leave it at that.

Great mini series that I highly recommend. You will not end it feeling you need more of the series. Instead you'll end wanting a new series to watch that is just as fulfilling to binge.

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)

In a nutshell... bad ass women.

I've got not problem with seeing women kick ass. Yea, it sucks that this day and age characters like Pepe Le Pew got canceled for being sexist, but get the the times. Pepe should still be here, but this is the type of movies we are all going to be seeing from here on.

Great action and violence. It's definitely worth the watch. I'd give it more around a high 6 or 7, but it's down around a 5 in the ratings. That's undeserved.

Please note, I'm entertained greatly by what I'd consider a 6 or 7 typically. I drop a lot of 10's because I know people won't understand I feel it's worth watching otherwise.

A damn shame seeing people drop 1's. Stick with your genre if you're going to review.

If you hate opera... don't watch an opera and review it you morons.

Super Troopers (2001)

Probably my favorite opening scene of a comedy movie. Can't get enough of this movie! Hilarious! The sequel does not compare, but Broken Lizard is a great movie group. I recommend many of their films.

Como Caído Del Cielo (2019)

I thought everything about this movie was outstanding, but most of all the acting and the music!

The only negative I have for this movie, as I'm not fluent in Spanish, is that the scenes in which Pedro sings do not have subtitles... I got the gist of most songs, but it would have been great to know for sure what they were about.

If you like Romantic Comedies and Music, this is for you!

Mutiny of the Worker Bees (2020)

A Fun Watch

I do not speak much Spanish, so I had to rely on the subtitles...

The movie was funny and entertaining. I would give it more around a 7, but considering it's 4 rating I figured a 10 may balance it out. Considering I would watch and enjoy this again, I'm fine with dropping the 10 on it.

I found the acting to be very good, while a touch over the top, but that is clearly what they were aiming for.

If you go into this expecting to take it all that seriously, it's not the movie for you.

Great for fans of comedy and technology as a pair.

Our Lovers (2016)

Wonderful film

Towards the middle of this movie I realized how much I liked it, though I was enjoying it from the start. The dialogue can be a bit poetic, making it harder for me, a non Spanish speaker, to understand, so I did have to rewind a few seconds here and there to read again. It gets better as it goes.

I recommend it, but not sure it's for everybody.

Tenet (2020)

It sucks for somebody like me who is not the most intelligent in subjects like physics.

I will say, this was a very interesting film from a man with a great mind.

I will need rewatches, but the originality alone warrants 10 stars.

I saw a low review due to them needing subtitles. I went ahead and put them on at the beginning and they did help, but there are plenty of great (even English speaking) movies where I have needed them.

Intellectual action movie that I will need to rewatch a few times, considering my lack of intellect.

Love and Monsters (2020)

To the naysayers...

Truly a great movie! Hits you on every emotional level, aside from thriller or horror in the sense I never jumped out of my seat or was truly scared.

I have seen a few negative reviews and one such said this was a boring movie. I would hate to be in that reviewers life, as I'm not sure what could excite them.

Another reviewer mentioned that this is a teenager movie... VERY VERY VERY MINOR SPOILER ALERT COMING. As a hater of spoilers I don't actually find this as one. I'm that guy who doesn't even read movie descriptions or watch trailers, as they so often have hidden spoilers (sometimes quite large, as seeing an arm dressed in pink polka dots shooting somebody. That's when I'm pissed off the moment I see a person dressed in pink polka dots).

As for my VERY MINOR SPOILER

There is not one damn teenager in this movie. The main characters are in there mid 20's and the rest are clearly above, aside from a baby, which is seen amongst the first scenes, and a girl no more than 10 years of age I'd guess. My thoughts on that reviewer is that they find monsters and such childish.

This was a very clever way to bring monsters into a movie, my own opinion.

CGI was actually great (especially considering they didn't have a huge budget) and I'm not a fan of the CGI in many motion pictures.

It's a movie that will actually give you insight on how you may want to live your life.

Face your fears and see the world... or even face the world and see your fears.

Shame on these 1 star reviewers. I rate 10's too often because I can see the good in a lot of movies. You'll probably never see me rate a 1. For this movie to have as great of imagery and acting (even if only one actor stole the show, which is not the case in my eyes) it's already above 3 stars to me.

Sorry for my rant, but I can't stand people who literally cannot appreciate a single aspect of something, whether movie or otherwise. Shame on 1 star'ers!

Hector and the Search for Happiness (2014)

Similar to Walter Mitty, while totally it's own!

What a great movie! Very feel good with just the right tastes of all of the other emotions you could imagine.

I compared it to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller version), because Walter Mitty is probably my go to feel good movie. The main difference between these is that Walter Mitty incorporates daydreaming and imagination, where as Hector and the Search for Happiness is solely about getting outside of yourself to find that Happiness.

I feel bad bringing up The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, because I'm shocked that it's has over 200,000 reviews when this only has 40,000.

Hector and the Search for Happiness is like my own life in the sense that Hector travels worldwide to find happiness.

I myself have found my happiest moments by traveling alone worldwide and getting with locals of various different cultures.

I am not leaving spoilers, so I refrain from saying more, but this movie gets me every time. I have watched it numerous times already and am actually ordering the Blu Ray now so I always have it at hand. This will be one of my go to movies when I introduce friends and new friends to my idea of great cinema. Bravo!
