You Can't Kill Meme (2021)
What the flibber-flabber did I just watch?
...Or rather attempt to watch.
You can't be serious. I still can't figure out if this is satire or not. It's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. This is a prank, right? This actually has to be a prank. It has to be satire. If it's satire then it would be funny. Reminds me of other satire mock-umentaries such as "clouds are satanic illuminati propaganda". This absolutely 100% has to be satire otherwise it makes zero effing sense.
Chaos magick? What!?!?!? Bro it's a meme. What language are these people even speaking. I really just felt like I was missing something. After momentarily being stunned by rapidly flashing black and white lights in the beginning that PROBABLY could give someone a seizure - for gods sake man. People have epilepsy. I hate those crappy effects.
Anyways, did you see Rick Astley in the beginning?
Yeah, we all just got rickrolled. This whole video was a prank for sure. It's fake. Definitely fake. The creators are laughing in their basements right now cuz we fell for it!
Ah, I'll play along... In conclusion to my review, I shall activate the ultimate sigil chant, now close your eyes and say it with me folks:
"Big big chungus big chungus big chungus!"
There, now the world will end and astral neo-fascists will return under Lord Zeemoog's reptilian agenda... Or something...
It's the internet folks. Should we really be suprised?
I'd give zero stars. Negative stars. ....black holes?
One star purely because I liked seeing the memes and hyperrealistic baby Pepe. That's a rare one.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)
A hilarious classic from when movies were actually funny
I tagged this with spoilers just in case. They are mild, I'm not giving away any plot twists or major scenes. Only touching on stuff that is explicitly discussed and set up in the film.
This has been a favorite for several years. Never fails to have me laughing! It's amusing and exciting through and through.
Snowflakes are offended at this movie now. Boohoo! Go join the Amish if basic comedy hurts your feelings. Let me explain a few basic things people are getting ruffled up over.
The entire point of this movie is that the main characters are con artists. CON ARTISTS! They are bad people, who will do bad things to achieve their bad goals, because they are bad. They are the last people in this movie's universe to be "unproblematic". It's ridiculous that people are mad at them...for being bad. Yes. That is the point!
It is a movie about corrupt people foiling eachother's plans, and that's what makes it funny. If you take the scenes out of context, of course it looks bad. But most people criticizing this movie have clearly never watched it.
Ruprecht the Monkey Boy was hilarious. Not once in the movie did they ever state that he was being a parody of any specific mentally disabled person. Now I could see if they said he was autistic, that would be VERY upsetting. But he isn't... It's in his name, he's the "monkey boy."
And also, the scene serves as contrast to the previous classy, fancy-pants scenes. It's a type of comedy...CONTRAST! And again, they're conmen - they make ends meet through dastardly plans.
The whole dynamic where they played out doctor and patient is somehow offensive to people too. Um, okay? How? Why. In case anyone forgot, the man in the wheelchair was FAKING. He could walk perfectly fine - again - HE IS A CON MAN. Don't feel sorry for him! He was playing an exaggerated sympathy card to steal money from an unsuspecting victim.
That's why the "doctor" was so harsh on him and constantly taunted him. Because he knows full well that the guy is a fraud - they are partners in crime after all.
If you've seen these scenes out of context online and it made you hate the movie.... PLEASE just watch the movie.
Freddy's character is one who stoops so morally and ethically low to get what he wants, while Jamieson is much classier and sophisticated. Seeing their two vastly different methods of conning, seeing the disappointment in Jamieson's eyes as he sees just how deplorable Freddy would be to gain sympathy - that's part of the comedy.
No one is trying to joke that disabled people are pathetic - it's the opposite. That people PRETENDING to be disabled are pathetic. Don't worry - they all get what's coming for them, nobody gets off scott-free here.
And finally, the dumbest argument against this movie is that it's sexist. Jamieson states that he only targets corrupt old women. Why do you think that is? Their cons often involve a hint of romance, and they're after jewelry as much as cash. This simply would not work if they went after men.
Actually - if you watched this movie - you would see that men are just as capable of being conned and played for fools. And yes - AGAIN - these are con men who could care less about a woman's dignity. It wouldn't be funny to make a movie about two generous charity workers giving money away to local causes in a perfect sunshine rainbow world where nobody gets their feelings hurt.
Anyways, it's sad that we even have to explain what comedy is nowadays, that we can't all just sit down and have a good laugh at a classic like this anymore.
Rant aside, this movie is just full of plot twists with a deeply satisfying ending that is sure to have you hollering.
Please watch. Don't take anyone else's word for it - watch it for yourself before you decide if it's good or not! Which, it most certainly is!
Bible Town (2017)
For the sake of your sanity, do not watch this film.
I hear them crawling in the walls at night. I wake up in a cold sweat to the sound of giggling "Tell us another story!" I run out of the room. Splash cold water on my face. Then look up into the mirror and for a moment I swear my eyes look cold and hollow, like voids staring into the pits of hell themselves. I run outside in a panic, trembling as my heart pounds. Maybe some fresh air will help. But to my horror, as I gaze up into the clouds, a single hot air balloon passes above me. I know now that there is no escape. This was Bible Town all along. We are all Bible Town. Our memories are fake. Simple delusions we have created to escape the reality that there is no true life outside of this hell inhabited by plastic soulless children who feed on the sanity of humans like you and me.
