Poputepipikku: Rising Hell ~The Hellshake Arrow~ (2022)
Genuinely stunned that this anime could pull this off
I have been really enjoying the new season of Pop Team Epic, and this might be the best episode yet. They have managed to make season 2 even more creative and funny than season one, when I thought they would have run out of ideas for this series by now. The series has a level of goofiness to it that I haven't seen in any other anime, and this episode pulls it off to an extreme. Made entirely of flipbooks, the presenters here are very charismatic and make the entire episode so fun. The return of Hellshake Yano is a very welcome one, as it was one of my favorite moments from the first season. This episode is so creative with how it pulls off this storytelling, and makes me even more excited for the episodes that still have yet to come. 10/10 episode, very impressive choreography, very unique and creative method, silly yet entertaining story.
The Cuphead Show! (2022)
A show that manages to capture the fun of Cuphead but not 1930's cartoons
It was a wonderful idea to take a video game based on 1930's cartoons and turn it into an animated show, but ultimately it fails at what Cuphead set out to do. The show is dragged down by many modern kid's show stereotypes, with annoying, over the top voices, an overuse of sound effects and stale humor. The show does however, manage to portray the characters and world of the game in a way that translates well into a cartoon, and has a great soundtrack, but the negatives of this show make many moments far less enjoyable than they could be.
One final note, why isn't Beppi the clown in Carnevil?!
JoJo no Kimyô na Bôken: D'Arby the Gambler, Part 2 (2015)
My favorite episode
This is my personal favorite episode out of many in Jojo's biz Zaire adventure, the way it builds tension is absolutely insane and they manage to make it really intense despite them sitting in the same place the entire episode, really fun to watch.
