8 femmes (2002)
Great !
Well i've been an Agatha Christie fan since the tender age of 13 and absolutely loved this movie !
The story takes place in France in a big house blocked by snow on Christmas eve in the fifties. The master of the house has been killed and one of these eight woman must have done it but who ? It's a story that has been seen before but here it is great because the personalities of each of these women are disclosed little by little along with some family secrets. And the actresses are fantastic, especially Isabelle Huppert who portays a very nervous and rigid hipocondriac, but Emmanuel Beart as a perverted maid or Fanny Ardant as a femme fatale also did very well... oh i suppose the eight actresses were fantastic, though Virginie Ledoyen was the least impressive one.
The movie is very theatrical, as almost the whole story takes place in the same room, the hall of the house right beside the stairs that go up to the master's room (indeed the story was adapted from a play). The director, François Ozon played with the colors of this room and it looked great.
The story was clever and funny too as you saw the women becoming mad and fighting with each other, i personally think the greatest comedic moments often come from mean characters, as these ones undeniably were.
About the musical moments, with the characters singing and dancing along to some well known french songs i have yet to make up my mind on what it brought to the movie though it was still entertaining.
So great plot, ending, and acting, what else could we ask from a movie ?
The Corrs: Live at Lansdowne Road (2000)
What else can i say...
That's when i became a fan of the Corrs, when i first saw their Landsdowne Road concert... It's just a fantastic experience, it's colorful, lively, has their greatest songs performed. Andrea and her siblings surely know how to put on a show, they have incredible charisma ! The "Runaway" performance is stunning with the crowd singing along. That's another great point about this concert, the fact that the crowd participates to it, and are singing, dancing and cheering all the way. Definitely one of the best shows i've seen.
