The Happening (2008)
The Happening - (its definitely not)
Went to see this at the weekend, I was quite excited about it. However on viewing this film, I need not have been excited at all....! I was in shock at how bad the film actually was, Mark Wahlberg did not suit this role at all, it was a very poor performance by him. the film started off OK, and there are a couple of jumpy moments, but its just so tedious, I was annoyed when I came out of the Cinema, annoyed that the trailer look amazing and annoyed that this film got onto the big screen in the first place. I thought this was going to be a return to form for MNS, IT Wasn't..! Id advise that if there's anyone thinking of going to see this terrible film, save the environment and your money and don't go.
The Mist (2007)
One of the best horror films i've seen..................
Saw this recently and thought it was amazing, I first saw the trailer in 2007 and I've been itching to see it ever since. You probably all the story so I wont go into that too much, I think the thing to think about here is what would you do if you was trapped inside a supermarket, and outside there's a mist and within the mist are flesh eating monsters....? Exactly.! Well this film really puts you in that position. Everyone is brilliant in the film especially Marcia Gay Harden as the vile bible basher, bizarrely in the film I actually started to believe what she was saying as there was no other logical explanation as to what was actually going on. The only thing wrong with this film was some poor CGI, but I can live with that. The ENDING, is amazing...and that all I'm going to say about it. If you are a fan of Horror, not especially gore but a sustained and tense horror, then you MUST see this film.
Darkness Falls (2003)
I agree with Huggy Bear
I watched this after a night out and couldn't think of anything to put on, I remember buying it and at the time it having loads of bad reviews, I was intrigued because of the tooth fairy thing, on watching it i really enjoyed it, and it also managed to scare me a few times. I liked it because it was creepy and i prefer to be scared than to be groused out by lots of blood and guts. A great ghost story that I've passed onto friends and family and they have also enjoyed the film, (a couple of people i made watch it hated it). To sum up, i think people are taking it far too seriously, its a CERT 15, so there was never going to be loads of blood etc. I loved it.
Days of Darkness (2007)
Zombies and Aliens oh my.......
Absolutely awful, just awful..... it starts off OK, and then gets gradually worse and worse, the lead male is the only thing worth watching it for as he's quite cute, and there are a couple of scary scenes. The dialogue is also terrible really corny. The film also doesn't really explain whats actually happened, all of the 'zombie humans' are discovered have an alien inside them thats reproducing and taking control of them but how and when did this happen..? The sexy lead discovers that alcohol kills the aliens as he's just about to perform an abortion on his girlfriend who has been impregnated by an alien, (when this happened I have no idea), as he pours alcohol in her mouth to numb the pain he's about to inflict on her, the alien drops out of her 'lady parts' and is dead. They both manage to escape, but it leaves me wondering what happens next, why are the aliens here, when did they get here and are they all over America. Also the black guy in the very tight and very gay pink t-shirt saying 'Hugs not Drugs' looks totally stupid. Avoid if possible.
