2 Filhos de Francisco: A História de Zezé di Camargo & Luciano (2005)

Incredibly beautiful

A perfect story with wonderful music. Based on a true story, it showed us the bittersweet struggling path of the duet. Such a well-told story, and so many musical treasures made it simply a must see!

Brazil is a rich country when music tradition is concerned. And every successful musician has a story to tell. This is one of them, tells us how music changes life and how life enriches music.

I love folk music and the Brazil music is a major factor when I picked up this DVD. It does have a great number pieces of beautiful music flowing through the movie, which are far beyond most of the musical movies I've ever seen. Moreover, it is a good drama at the same time. The emotions, the feelings, the lives of all characters are well expressed.

Go see it whenever and wherever you can find it. I bet you'll love it like I do.

Highly recommended!!

In my own opinion, it will certainly win the best foreign film in this year's Oscar.

Ye yan (2006)

Unbearable, only for those who want to see pictures.

Totally ruined.

You can enjoy some good scenery/ dancing. But don't ever take it as a movie.

It based on Shakespeare's Hamlet, which western audiences may be familiar. But all the behaviors and dialogs have nothing to do with ancient China.

You can hardly find the soul of most of the characters.

If you want to see some good-looking costumes, some dancing-like fighting scene. You can have a look. If you like a normal movie that tells something, go find any other movie.

The Legend of 1900 (1998)

A perfect combination of scenario, emotions and music.

Being discarded, with unbelievable talent, a lonely life, a man called 1900 ended up all his life in a sea boat, and in the world of music. The movie is well arranged, with outstanding music. 1900 had a talent to observe the people and the world, and a natural-born skill to interpret his feelings and emotions into beautiful music. I've found almost all the elements I can expect in a movie, good story, pure emotions, friendship and love, wonderful music. It's a master piece. And the most important of all, I take this movie as the right one made for me, just like what I think about Nick Drake's music.

The Color of Paradise (1999)

A Beautiful Movie.

I'm a resident in Shanghai, China. I heard that Iranian movies were great. But I hadn't got any idea until I saw the wonderful movie, "color of paradise", in a Iranian Film Show in Shanghai Film Art Center.

It's a beautiful movie. Not only beautiful scenery, but also the real love and emotions of human being. The film managed to catch my breath in minutes. The characters are living rather than acting. Their behaviors and expressions are so real that it's easy to take them as your family, as your friends, as your neighbors. The director had a great mastery of telling story, and he was so great to find us such simple but beautiful items. And most essentially he found us the beautiful inside of mankind--real love. No matter how tough the circumstances around, love is indispensable.

Later, I've also seen the movie "children of heaven", another one directed by him which is more famous. But I prefer this one. If "children of heaven" is scored 8.0 here in IMDB, I'll get "color of paradise" a 8.5/10.
