A story that needed to be told...
19 January 2024
Unfortunately this movie is not it. I had looked forward to seeing this as I have read about this terrible time in our history. At 3 and a half hours you would think I now know everything. All I know is this movie could've been shorter by an hour and still have told the story with the same outcome.

I have always been a fan of Leo, but he is becoming a characature of himself. He needs to step away from Mr. Scorsese and do some other things. His whole acting in this was a permanent scowl just like DeNiro I'm sure this movie will be nominated for a slew of awards, I just don't know why. Boring and way too long. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen, it never came At 2 hours I was going to go to bed and watch the rest the next day, but I stuck it out. I didn't want to waste another day on this What a shame. This could have been a remarkable telling of a tragic story.

Thank goodness

Thank goodness Showtime is playing this! This is one amazing movie that for some reason has flown under the radar for many years.

Great acting, music and story. I tell everyone about it.

Ray Sharkey gives a truly marvelous performance. We also get introduced to Peter Gallagher. Whom is also brilliant in this.

The set design, clothes and music evokes that special time when we were looking for the next teen idol, after Elvis went into the army. I maybe wrong about the timing.

I was amazed to learn that this was based on the man who gave us Frankie Avalon and Fabian.

If you can sit down and watch this. I heard they were making a remake... I hope they leave it alone.

Brilliant performance
14 November 2022
I had waited to give a review of this movie until I had watched it more than once. Reason being, I was not thrilled when I heard of the casting of Austin Butler. Who was this kid?? Well after numerous viewings (probably 20 at this point) I'll tell you who he is...Elvis!

Yes, he has the moves, the voice both speaking and singing down pat. While the early years is all him singing, later years are mixed with the real Elvis. He literally embodies Elvis, with every fiber of his being It's a remarkable performance, one that I hope will be rewarded at award season.

The rest of the movie is very entertaining, too. In fact it's the only movie I wanted to punch Tom Hanks in the face for!

I think for all the negative reviews, watch it again with an open mind. I for one will probably watch it another 20 times. You know what? I think I'll watch it again now!

30 minutes I'll never get back
30 September 2022
I have always loved Marilyn Monroe so I thought I would give this a try. I mean how bad could it be? Very, very bad!!

I only made it through 30 minutes and had to turn it off. Who wrote this crap and why? We all know Marilyn had a rough life, but this is too much.

The actress who plays Marilyn gave it a good try. At times she looks and sounds like her, but it's not an even portrayal. Not to mention, she is too thin I had truly hoped I could get through the whole film, but I realized after the scene in the movie theater I wasn't going to make it. No I'm not being prudish, it just didn't seem believable.

Why this movie felt it necessary to exploit this woman this way is beyond me, especially considering she is not here to defend herself. I understand that this is fictional account, but why did you have to use her name? Just make a movie about a troubled star and let it go.

Don't waste your time. Thank goodness I didn't waste all of mine.

Too many changes from true story
14 May 2022
After having watched the real series on Netflix, I was annoyed at the changes made for "dramatic License " and "inclusion " Why couldn't they just tell the story the way it happened. It was dramatic enough. I gave it 5 stars for the actors, who did a fine job.

Acting is very distracting
20 April 2022
While I had high hopes for this show, I was so distracted by Ms Davis' mouth that I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. I feel as great an actor as she is, she was wildly miscast.

Michele Phiffer is remarkable as Betty Ford. Ms. Anderson is just ok, as I have seen other actors portray Mrs. Roosevelt better.

Not sure, if I will be able to enjoy watching this with the distraction of the "lips". I don't remember Mrs Obama talking like that. It's like a characture of her.
