An allegorical retelling of the Biblical story of the war between good and evil.
21 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to try and avoid spoilers, but there might be a couple. I don't think it will be anything that will ruin the movie for you. First off, it helps to have a Christian background going into this. The story is set in the aftermath of war in heaven and the expulsion of Lucifer and a third of the angels. You have to understand that setting in order to catch the nuances of what is an allegory. I loved the Steampunk setting. As another reviewer said, it was intense throughout, but given the stakes involved in the great controversy between good and evil in the universe, it's appropriately tense. The characters were well drawn. I loved the ninja angels. This is clearly NOT a documentary or even historical fiction. Like Jesus's story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, it is an allegory or parable told to make a point. If you are a Christian the story will affect you far more powerfully because you love God. If you're an atheist or anti-religious, you probably won't appreciate it. Well done all in all.

Stitchers (2015–2017)
8/10
Hard Sci-Fi. I like it. If you wanted syfy, go to the syfy channel. You might find some between wrestling and prank shows.

The reviews sound like an "I Hate Stitchers" club got together to trash this series. There's precious little sci-fi anymore that isn't some prurient, anything to get the women naked, kind of crap. The characters talk fast, the mental disorder is imaginary (hey, it's fiction people), and some of you don't like it. Don't watch, but to hope it doesn't last longer than the pilot is kind of a crappy attitude - like if you don't like it, no one else should see it. What a load of arrogant, self-serving claptrap. I like the series so far. I enjoy seeing some familiar faces from Eureka and Warehouse 13. I'll watch the series. I like hard SF. There's no sorcery, no swords, no semi-nude barbarian women. Not everybody is a social twelve year old.
