The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Just a person reviewing a title
People are entitled to their opinions. With that being said, most of the reviews on here are political frustrations playing out in a lord of the rings review thread. You won't find that here if that's what you want. My opinion stays away from political resentment or condescension. I'm just a dude writing a review lol
You should totally watch it. Yes, the cinematography is a reward in and of itself. Unfortunately, it sets a high bar that the story doesn't quite live up to. I've invested a handful of hours in these episodes so far. The story is just not that compelling. It didn't build the right type of momentum for me.
Low key disappointed in the rating. You're inviting my imagination in to this magnificent world to run wild, yet setting limits on my expectations with a dumb TV14 rating. Huge bummer considering GOT show just came out (great show so far!).
TLDR; Is it worth a watch? Ya, no doubt. Does it deserve a second season? Probably not.
The Patient (2022)
Anticipation is magical (as long as it has momentum)
For the first time ever, I see Steve Carrel as the person he's playing and not Michael Scott. The plot sells itself right away. Unfortunately, how a story is told can make or break it. For me, it breaks it. It feels like Hulu/directors were trying to build the next big series, but pressure or interference forced them to settle for what they thought would be an acceptable time of 20 min per episode. The run time kills any momentum and quickly becomes an mindful annoyance. At the time of this review, there are dozens of new shows willing to fill the void left by the short run time. I'll wait until they release all of the episodes to pick it back up. (just finished episode 3)
TLDR: Excellent plot, great acting, run time provokes disinterest.
