The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys (2024)
Reality TV artificiality
From the beginning, this series equates ranching with farming. Ranching is raising livestock on pastures and making your money from livestock sales. Farming involves cultivating crops and making your money from selling the crops. As for reality TV series, they thrive on drama. So embellishment, when it comes to portraying family squabbles and financial woes, is the norm on such shows. Don't mistake entertainment for accurate portrayals. Reality shows do not make their money from the businesses portrayed, as much as income made from the shows themselves. The cash cow is the show, not the business.
Under Wraps (2021)
Disappointing Remake
This remake of "Under Wraps" is a poor attempt to recapture the original's charm and nostalgia. The story line feels rushed and lacks the heart and depth that made the original so popular. The pace of the story and "modern messaging" are erratic, and honestly dull. The new cast fails to capture the likability of the characters in the previous film, resulting in performances that appear forced and uninspired. The original's humor, which was an enjoyable aspect, appears forced and falls flat in this version. It lacks the original's sparkle and wit, which made it the original so engaging for both kids and adults.
Furthermore, the film's visual effects and production quality are inadequate, giving it a cheap and rushed aspect. The mood and spirit of adventure that were so important in the original are noticeably absent. While remakes frequently aim to add something new, this version fails to provide anything remarkable. It merely dilutes the original's plot and adds meaningless, out-of-place "inclusivity" for the sake of "inclusivity." Overall, this remake of "Under Wraps" fails to replicate the original's appeal and magic while injecting modern societal baggage.
Unidentified with Demi Lovato (2021)
Too much LA artificiality
The personalities in the show, including some of the paranormal investigators, have an artificiality about their behavior and character. So much so that it detracts from the show and its obvious that the show's main personalities are out of their element and instead are trying to fill a role as they go along. The show comes across as trend chasing rather than being an honest show.
Coastal Elites (2020)
A peek into elitism in the times of CV...
An honest peek into the cultureless-ness of elitists and classists whose only sense of identity is of sociopathy and narcissism The only character in this film that's mildly tolerable is Kaitlin Dever's character. If a viewer can identify with any of the other characters in this film then something's seriously wrong with the viewer.
The Twilight Zone (2019)
The Social Justice Zone
Besides the obvious social justice slant and its overly-recycled topics, the episodes just drag on and are dull an dull and unimaginative. It's like this show was written to appeal to the creators' well-off peers and not people outside of the bubble that its creators live within. A show by and for the wealthy, to make them feel superior.
