The Last Godfather (2010)
Wholesome fun
This movie was a lot of fun to watch. I saw it on Tubi because it has Harvey Keitel in it but Shim Hyung-Rae was actually pretty funny.
It was well edited and i liked the use of color.
The Young-goo character was endearing but i must admit it had a shaky start. But by the end i was won over and i rooted for the guy.
I love the way he solves the conflict with his father and the ending was great.
Jason Mewes was awsome in this, it was a total suprise to see him! He was used excellently and he gave a great preformance! Totally underrated!!!
The gun flipping was 10/10.
I reccomend this movie if your looking for a relief from grim and pessimistic media. It's definitely not the kind of PG you expect though so watch it alone first before showing to your kids. It has mild violence and one scene depicting a sexual act, nothing explicit obviously. Personally i think it's fine, you should be talking to your kids about that yourself anyway.
Hellbox (2021)
Ambitious
Okay so maybe it's not a masterpiece but I think it definitely deserves a 10 for effort!
I like many, I was a little thrown off by the stripped down look of it. It's an Independent movie to be sure. But if you stick around and bear through some sluggish scenes, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by it's visual effects.
Almost reminiscent of Army of Darkness, this film spans various time periods with one through-line...Demons!
I will admit the story lost me at parts due to it's constant change of perspective but all in all this was a pretty damn good film that kept me shocked and entertained all throughout. (Though some of that fun you make yourself) definitely worth a watch if your in the mood for a creative and ambitious indie film. You won't forget it!
