August Creek (2017 TV Movie)
5/10
slow and a bit confusing
19 July 2022
I thought this was a Hallmark movie.. which I count on for more chaste relationships. She is a widow and suffering as would be normal. She is dating a guy named Marc who she is sleeping with. Not a husband, a boyfriend, who are not committed to each other. It is not what Hallmark usually shows and I would not want children watching it as being okay and normal. Hallmark does not usually do that..

Save the Wedding (2021 TV Movie)

Seemed like an amateur attempt
5 September 2021
The plot had a lot of potential. The people were the typical good looking young folks. Their skills might have been better if the writing had been better. It was like it was missing some transitions between aspects of the plot. It didn't flow and it seemed a little stiff. I have seen much better acting than this show. Very hard to believe the people. Sorry to say it. Don't know if it was the acting or the writing. Good when you just want something to take your mind off of a boring day maybe?

get fresh air instead
22 September 2017
I tried to watch it. Was totally grossed out and offended within minutes. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. It made my stomach hurt. There were no redeeming minutes so I decided not to waste time from my life watching it. Feel much better now. Do not recommend it at all.

The Good Guy (2009)

Ending better than beginning.
29 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was drawn by the actors but was turned off immediately by constant f bombs. The only reason I watched it to the very end is to see what the first scene meant and to find out what happened to Beth and Tommy. I was totally turned off by the constant obscenities. It was as if they got their degrees and job experience in a prison yard instead of in finance or college. The men were mostly users and out to get only what they wanted themselves. Total jerks and immature. Only one or two of the men in their office had any integrity. Don't want to tell you more in case you want to watch this however I don't recommend wasting your time. Not to spoil too much but I liked the ending.. they got what they deserved.

Ransom (2017–2019)
7/10
mystery with a twist and rescues
2 January 2017
I like mystery and cop shows. Ransom promised both so it was intriguing to me and I gave it a chance. The way the young college girl got into the first scene without ID was a bit far fetched. The head of the agency is a bit of a James Bond type which is appealing. Beaumont is like Bond in that he is mysterious and well dressed but can handle any altercation! There is a story within a story which I find holds my interest. It looks like this could be stories that are resolved each week which also appeals to me. Complete the problem and story each week and let me move on! I think it will be an entertaining show so I will continue to watch it. If you like the above you will like the show.

The Intern (I) (2015)
10/10
One of the best of 2015
5 October 2015
I was expecting a good movie. It is DeNiro after all! But I did not expect to be as entertained and delighted as I was. It was cleverly written, dialogue that was perfect for the setting and the ages of the stars. The movie told a real story and didn't sensationalize by violence, sex or foul language. As a newly retired person I was definitely able to relate but the story of the young folks starting out in their careers is something other age groups in the audience can relate to. It was poignant at times. I laughed. I cried. I cheered, well inside my head. The outstanding performance of the newcomer, little Paige, shows us we will be seeing much more of her. She is adorable as a movie child should be but really talented. What a little treasure. There is much about relationship in this movie..between workers, lovers, friends, with yourself. They were real people and someone each viewer can relate to. Be ready to belly laugh, weep a little, cheer for a favorite character, chuckle and be glad you saw it! I highly recommend it.

Fred Claus (2007)
9/10
fun holiday movie
13 November 2007
It is refreshing to see a movie that is fun for the family. The premise of Santa Claus having a brother was a new twist though I must admit the whole save the day approach to Santa and Christmas was a little formula. Vince Vaughn was charming and funny as usual. The sibling rivalry was hilarious especially when Fred goes to a support group. Kids won't get that but adults will enjoy it. I laughed out loud numerous times as did the kids. : ) I was disappointed that they have a couple who live together instead of getting married.. especially in a movie that is supposed to be geared toward the family. I am tired of that in movies.. it is just shacking up and shows no commitment and it is not the example I want the kids to have. We talk about it and how unfortunate it is to have in the movie and that it is not a good way to live. Not good for anyone. But that was the only thing that I really found objectionable for kids. It really is pretty PG. refreshing! We felt happy and like we had fun when we left the theater. I say go see it! If you want something that is critically acclaimed but depressing like Breaking Up then don't go see it. But if you want something funny and light hearted and feel good with an interesting twist, the sibling.. go see it. Don't expect to see it at Oscars but enjoy it.

The Ron Clark Story (2006 TV Movie)
9/10
inspirational movie
7 November 2007
I enjoyed seeing Matthew Perry in a different role but most of all enjoyed watching a story of a man who wouldn't give up on kids, even though tempted. I understand since I have been an educator for 30 years. I was uncertain of some of the methods used but it was not a movie to teach one how to teach (posting those authoritarian rules is a fast way to turn kids off) .. it was a movie about a man who was very dedicated and certain that he could teach some tough kids. As a biographical movie I enjoyed it a lot. No matter the methods, kids know who truly cares about them and who is there just to move on or just do a job. The bonus materials of interviews with Mr. Clark himself and with Matthew Perry were enjoyable. Mr. Clark is quite energetic to say the least and very emotionally invested in getting kids education and I applaud that. Some criticize Perry in this role but I felt he communicated the dedication and desire to reach the kids. It is good use of time unlike many movies out there!

Shadowboxer (2005)
2/10
long and confusing
4 August 2007
This movie was boring and none of the characters were anybody that we would care about. The movie was cast with some very very good actors such as Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding.. but they didn't do much but grimace and smoke. It was so boring I just fast forwarded it until the end. I found it hard to understand how the characters were related to each other and except for a small bit of humanity Rose had, it was dark and ugly. I don't care to see private moments like sex in a movie and the industry seems to think we are voyeurs. There was nothing romantic or loving, there was only darkness, greed and ugliness. Don't waste your time or money.

7th Heaven (1996–2007)
9/10
refreshing most of the time
24 January 2007
I love this show because you can watch it with kids. AND.. It shows attractive people with active libidos making a deliberate choice NOT to have sex until married. It shows parents not afraid to set limits. It shows a family that lives its beliefs. As a Christian I find it more true of my life than anything else. Although some of what they do is not biblical it is supposed to be entertaining.

I am sick of all the shows on TV now that revolve around sex.. with as many people as possible and no consequences to anyone. Two and Half men started out funny and became stupid. How can they let that child be on the show? Remember Rachel and Phoebe.. who had sooooooo many sexual partners? (permiscuous) Remember Monica and Chandler who attacked each other in closets and didn't have the guts to get married but rather lived together? Remember Joey who didn't give out his real name when he had sex so they wouldn't know him? (Real name? PIG or womanizer works). TV now is hard to stomach for anyone who believes there is more to life than talking someone into sex and that being monogamous and committed is the best life. Seventh Heaven is refreshing and fun and safe for everyone. I love it!!

Hunger Point (2003 TV Movie)
7/10
the movie was not bizarre but honest about a real problem
8 January 2007
The comment about the movie being bizarre was probably made out of ignorance and lack of experience. This movie was very real about a very real problem. It portrayed an illness in need of treatment. Anorexia and bulimia are not just decisions and will power but life threatening illnesses. They affect the whole family and must be taken seriously. They also must be treated by professionals.. it is not an issue that can be treated at home as the movie portrays well. It is not a fun movie or lighthearted so someone who wants to be cheered up or see a light hearted romance would not enjoy it. If someone wants to see something that brings out the problem and gives information it would be good to watch. It may help someone on the verge of an eating disorder but won't touch those who are deeply into it. They need far more than a movie to get help.
