Disenchantment: Bean Falls Apart (2022)
This episode combines is a fantasy genre Matt Groening anime with a psychological thriller twist.
This is the most underrated show going right now, especially on Netflix. It is also the second to best anime going, the best being Rick & Morty. Bean Falls Apart is not as focused on comedy as it is on story progression, however; it definitely isn't without its Matt Groening slapstick jabs. It ends on a cliff hanger with an open ending, which AToW, hasn't been brought any closure. It has twist & turns, heroes and villains, love, death, and complex relationships. Though I feel the story moves a little to quickly, I feel it is well thought out, and the writers know exactly where they are going with it.
This episode is very focused on Bean (the female protagonist), but also includes a fair bit of Lucy. Other characters that pop up are Elfo, Bunty, King Zog, and Mop Girl. Without including any spoilers, I will say that the ending was surprising, and it really helped to cement certain relationships, and bring a new character into play.
Rick and Morty: Bethic Twinstinct (2022)
One of the most wacky, "make you think" episodes yet.
I have often wondered what it would be like to meet another version of my self, when I thought about it, I realized, that it couldn't be another version of me, unless there was no way of knowing which was the original version, otherwise it wouldn't be me. I don't want to spoil anything, so I will say this, a clone cannot think as another person does unless they have had the same experiences, a big philosophical discussion is avoided by not addressing this issue, but to not address it, the original version couldn't be known. The R&M creators are intelligent enough to understand this, where most show creators are not. The only other person I can think of that was able to think about the world, and manifest it into a television show was Matt Groening. And he actually addressed this "topic" too in Futurama, and it was perhaps the best episodes in all of Futurama.
The point is that this episode, as are many of the episodes, is an episode for the typical atypical Millennial nerd who is now in her/his 30's and still thinks as deeply about the universe as they did while in highschool. It's not an episode for people who enjoy slap stick comedy, or "fictitious" reality tv, it is an episode for those who appreciate philosophical discussion, and thinking about how the universe works.
Without a doubt this episode is a 10.
Rick and Morty: Rick: A Mort Well Lived (2022)
R&M is back baby!
No doubt the 5th installment of Rick & Morty was the worst. In my personal opinion, I feel R&M was missing a little bit of its magic in some of the season 3 episodes, when I seen season 4 I was I knew somthing was off, and I already expected season 5 to suck.
Don't get me wrong, I loved seasoned 3, but it just wasn't quite as good as seasons 1 & 2, however, that's not surprising considering rick & morty seasons 1 & 2 are my favorite seasons of any western anime ever.
Season 4, however, was quite disappointing, and season 5 made me think that R&M was dead forever.
I AM HAPPY TO REPORT, THAT RICK & MORTY S6 IS BACK, AND IT IS ORIGINAL, IT IS SCI-FI, IT IS COMEDY, IT IS THE CRAZY WACKY DOODLNESS THAT I HAVE BEEN CRAVING SINCE THE END OF S3.
A mort well lived is nothing short of 9, while other S6 episodes are a 10, as they compete hand and hand with some of the best R&M released back in 2013 & 2015.
Rick and Morty: Mort Dinner Rick Andre (2021)
Mr. Nimbus is as Pimpus as a Plumbus
I decided to come review this episode, because I wrote a review for Episode 7 of the 5th season, and I have never seen a R&M episode so unliked before. IMO, Mr. Nimbus is the best character that the show has shown. I really don't like the President, and the several episodes that have put him in. I hope to see alot more of Mr. Nimbus in up coming episodes.
One more thing... I miss Innerdimensional cable!
Rick and Morty: Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion (2021)
R&M is still great, its just evolving a bit to try and meet the heaby demands imposed on the show by its viewers
This was a half decent episode, but it was far from this seasons best episode. R&M were forced to add additional writers to help write the show, because of popular demand, and some of the episodes don't quite feel like classic R&M, where some do. I have kept track of the writers, who have helped write the show, and it seems that R&M has become a great job to put on the resume, as many of the writers have got some very high paying gigs writing for some high profile shows. The best R&M episodes, are being written by writers that have been with the show since before the writing started for season 4. Another problem is that, it seems like Justin Rolland focuses less on helping create episodes, and is now just the voice actor for Rick, Morty & a couple other odd ball characters. He is considered to be the Co-creator, and was involved in animation, writing, voicing, etc... Now Rolland has another show that is more his own, than it is Harmon's (show is called: "Solar Opposites" & it is on Hulu). IMO, the humor found in Solar Opposites, is a large part of the humor that could be found in early R&M, a humor that the show doesn't have today. R&M use to feel very abstract, and Sci Fi'ish, and it still does in some episodes, but in other episodes like this one, it feels, well... not quite the same as it use to, I guess. I find it completely obvious that Justin Rolland has not been contributing to R&M like he once did. Supposedly him and Harmon were under much stress during the making of season 3, and there was some differences of opinions that lasted through the creation of season 4. To me it feels like they never really settled their differences, and Rolland continues to do the voice acting, as he is contracted to, but focuses all of his other time on Solar Opposites. This is just a theory, but it would actually make a lot of sense. That means Harmon is in charge, but he can't write & animate the show by him self, and every-time he gets good help, it seems like another show comes in and buys his writers out from underneath him. Again, I don't know if Dan Harmon feels this way, again I am just guessing, but again it would make sense, pickle rick won all sorts of awards, and went down as one of R&M's all time greatest. The woman who wrote Pickle Rick got offered a large multi million dollar contract to write for another show, shortly after she received an Award for writing pickle rick. (note: she is an Asian female writer, and she invented the Asian therapist lady, lol)
