Leave the World Behind (2023)
A setup
This film is a setup for the coming American apocalypse. Just like Contagion was a setup for Covid. The fact that this got the OK from our anti American former president should tell you all you need to know. EMPs are a real threat that we, as a nation, are defenseless against. It is an unveiled warning to Americans to be prepared.

Remembering Gene Wilder (2023)
You'll love him even more!
An absolute gem of a documentary. Lovingly done. Much of it narrated by Gene himself. Stories of his upbringing, his family, his successes, his collaborators, and his loves. Beautifully directed. With tender stories told by Mel Brooks, Rain Pryor (Richard Pryor's daughter) and his last wife Karen. I was not aware of his later years. They are described with some detail. A tragic ending for a man whose quick wit, comedic timing, and athletic ability failed him towards the end. The song he listened to while fading away will surely bring a tear to your eye. Alzheimers is a horrific disease. Born Jerome Silverman, he died Wilder. A must see for all fans of this comic genius! Very highly recommended.
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
A Wonderful Fairy Tale for the ladies...and gents!
Lesley Manville, as Mrs Harris, is delightful. A lovely, expressive face, that holds your attention the entire film. The entire cast does a wonderful job. It is a positive film from beginning to end. The Paris scenery is lovely to watch. The fashions displayed are in need of a comeback. It's easy to see why Dior was Dior. If you want to just sit back, and immerse yourself in a well told tale, catch this one in the theater. You won't regret it.
Nope (2022)
Appropriately titled film
I had semi high expectations, and was totally let down. There is not one character in the film, that you will care about. The lead "actor" has zero emotional range. It's a nonsensical "story", again, that you will not care about. Peele wrote, produced, and directed this film. Which makes sense. Because I can't imagine him being able to get investors for this snooze fest. Don't believe the good reviews. Peele himself must've written them. Save your time and money. There are much better films out there to see.
The Man in the Hat (2020)
Too bad it ended
A wonderful tapestry of beautiful scenery, gentle moments, caring relationships, mystery, minimal dialogue, beautiful music, all woven together with no particular place to go, allowing you to create your own narrative in your head. Just a beautiful film to watch and be a part of. Get lost in it, and float along. A must see!
No Time to Die (2021)
I rated it this high only because it's 007
Cons:
Weak story. No chemistry between any of the characters. No sense of humor. Weak dialogue. A very weak villain. It meanders throughout. Terribly underutilized cast. Cannot recommend. Wait till it comes on TV
Pros:
The Aston Martin makes a beautiful, albeit short comeback. Bond wears nice, though somewhat ill fitting clothes. Some of the scenery is lovely. It makes you appreciate his other Bond films much more.
Cry Macho (2021)
For "Clint Completists" only
The only reason to see this film, is to see Clint in probably his final role. Though I hope it isn't.
There is nothing believable about this story. From the poor script, to the wooden acting, and weak dialogue. It is a total snoozefest. If you need to take a nap, this film will do it for you. Otherwise, stay away. You've been warned.
The Green Knight (2021)
All style. No substance
One of the most visually stunning movies in recent years. Beautiful to watch.
If only the "story" were as good. The story, if you can call it that, could've been told in three minutes or less. To take 2 hours to tell it, flies in the face of the look of the film. A shame so much effort was put into the look of a movie, rather than the story. 3 stars is a very generous rating. Please don't waste your time.
Pig (2021)
"Pig" is an appropriate title for this film
A dreary, pointless film that has no reason to exist. I don't know what film, or what state of mind the positive reviewers were in, when watching this monumental bore. The entire premise of the film is ridiculous. At no point in time, will you relate to any of the characters. Don't waste your time, or money. You've been warned.
