Elden Ring (2022 Video Game)
10/10
Well worth the wait
26 February 2022
As an avid souls fan this was everything I wanted it to be. I got the pre order yesterday and have enjoyed everything I have played so far. No glitches or problems and the download time was really quick.

The game kind of blends the gameplay of Sekiro and dark souls together giving you much more freedom to experiment as well as all kinds of stealth and jumping mechanics. Luckily there is no posture or anything as I don't like that system from Sekiro personally.

Sekiro was a great game but I prefer the non linear story and more experimental gameplay (more weapons, armour, magic builds, dexterity builds, ect) of the other games in the series, as well as the excellent character customisation.

Even though I have only played around 5-6 hours it it is already one of the best open world games in my opinion with such a detailed and explorative world full of so many interesting locations and creatures. There are all kinds of new features and details that almost make the older games obsolete and made me ask why they didn't add that before.

In the previous games when you hit a difficult boss you were locked into beating them to continue. Due to elden rings open world design however you can easily come back to a boss after exploring and upgrading your character. You could do this in the older games but had to face the boss eventually, in elden ring there is so much side content and other areas to explore you can almost ignore the main story entirely and complete it at your own leasure.

The game does a great job of giving you enough freedom to explore and not give you a direct path whilst still having a set goal to get to. You have a marker and map, but they are so well utilised it doesn't affect the game at all. It also does a fantastic job at introducing the souls gameplay to new players, with an actual tutorial at the beginning. It is not in your face and is an optional part of the starting area.

There is one flaw in my opinion, the open world is so expasive that progression is more difficult than the other games in my opinion. After playing for a decent amount of time I still only have my starting weapon. There are weapons available from stores and such but none from enemies or ones you find, which is the best way to get them usually in other souls games.

This is not a big problem as it is more of a personal thing. I just love exploring the world anyway and I'm sure there are many weapons available.

In short ths game is just fantastic and does not disappoint at all. Easily recommend to any souls fan and anyone in general. Probably the best place to start the series as the game kind of encapsulates everything great about it. I already want to get back to and explore the game, just so glad it is as great as it is.

Ape Escape 3 (2005 Video Game)
10/10
One of the most fun games ever made
22 February 2022
S tier 10/10. As a huge fan of the 2nd game after playing it on the PS4, I searched up what the other ape escape games were like. Allot of people said this was the best, and I can easily see why.

The levels in this game are not as open as 2 but are much more refined and interesting. As the game is themed around movies each level fits a certain type of movie and it makes them so fun and exiting to explore.

The music is just as good if not better than 2, there is literally no bad song in my opinion with each and every piece of music or tune being exceptional. I know it's a bit over the top but I genuinely think that.

The new transformation upgrades are brilliant and are all really fun. They are very over powered but make the game much more enjoyable. I especially love the one you get after the final boss to get all of the apes. The new hidden apes you have to put a code in to find are all great as well and add another layer of interest to exploring the levels.

The gatcha mechanic from 2 is not here but now you can choose what collectables to get. It is much more enjoyable to get everything and much easier than in 2.

The boss fights are okay but much like the first one are not nearly the best part of the game. As well as the camera which is a slight annoyance st some points in the game.

In short this game is just incredible and one of my all-time favorits. It is a shame that is is so expensive and can only be played on PS2 but is definitely a game worth getting. I would recommend playing ape escape 2 on PS4 as that is very cheap. If you really like that then definitely get it but if you don't I wouldn't bother.

Fire Pro Wrestling World (2017 Video Game)
10/10
One of if not my favorite game of all time
18 February 2022
S tier, 10/10. At last, this is on IMDb! I tried to find a good poster immage and even tried to edit some but they all ended up not working.

Fire pro wrestling world is simply one of the most fun and funny games that you can play. The pure joy of customizing werdios and getting them to fight eachother is fully realised and the game revels in how much you can edit your characters. You can literally edit each individual part of the character model and morph it into the strangest and funniest things you can think of. The game even has voice customisation, whilst not being perfect the voice options you can choose from are massive.

The graphics are not great but the style captures that classic era of wrestling games perfectly and allows for all kinds of modifications to your characters and matches. Even though other wresting games have better graphics they don't really match the charm or freedom that fire pro wrestling provides.

As I play it on the PS4 I wish you cound get mods but body part and song imports are there and the game itself has so much original content it is more of a minor complaint.

The actual wrestling side of the game is fantastic as well. I'm not really big into fire pro wrestling but this game has actually made me more interesting in it. There are brilaint dlc addons to the game. The story mode and manager mode allow you to add your custom characters and there both great and really interesting. Whist I couldn't beat the story as actually wrestling in this game is very technical, I got really far in it and found the gameplay really difficult but satisfying when you get it right and win a match.

The only flaws with the game is that there are other wrestling games I have played that do some things better. WWE 2k19 is probably the best graphical wrestling game. Customisation is incredible in that game too and it has more songs. I do wish you could get a royal rumble in fire pro as that is such a fun event and is present in nearly all the WWE restling games I have played.

Even if fire pro wrestling might not do that type of mach I would love to see it added to the game so much. I love 2k19 but it does feel really artificial, with customisation heavily revolving around a human model. Also like other wwe games, it can be a bit too difficult to navigate will all kinds of technical modifications to your character and spesific modes that I don't really understand. It is a great game but not nearly as good as fire pro wrestling.

WWE, here comes the pain is known for being one of if not the best wrestling game and I got it because of that. It is definitely exceptional with a brilliant soundtrack, probably the best 3d customisation of any game, and a definitive and raw UI that is a bit difficult to navigate but becomes easy to get used to. I just wish there was more to do in the game.

There is a selection of great mach types, royal rumble witch is great and some brilaint special matches but even all of this is not nearly as expansive as fire pros replayability. I still love the game and will put hours and hours into it, I think it is one of the best games ever made but Fire pro wrestling is just so great that is is better for me personally, only by a small margin.

In short, I just love this game so much, I have put so many hours into it and will always return to it to just mess around and experiment with the character creator and/or play a few matches. A game I can always play and one that is easily one of my favorites of all time.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003 Video Game)
7/10
Intensely fustrating at times but captures the Simpsons perfectly
17 February 2022
7.5/10, B tier. It is really hard for me to hate this game as it is such a staple of my PS2 childhood. Whilst I prefer road rage for it's huge levels and crazy taxi like gameplay this is a game that will always remember and like on a personal level.

It is a racing game but you can explore the world on foot, almost like a GTA game with the ammount of things you can do. The world itelf is a perfect example of that from the show. All the locations feel natural and realisically laid out. The iconic places such as the house, school, power plant, Moe's, to name a few, are all really well realised.

The story is pretty cool as well, you don't really know we're it will go next and every Simpsons character is involved. I won't talk about it as it is just so crazy and interesting to see where it goes. You get to play as everyone except Maggie of course because she can't drive. Lisa easily has the best cars and Bart has the best area of Springfield, downtown.

The game is a great interpretation of the Simpsons that is very accurate to the show. The game is always interesting and has so much that fans of the show will love. That being said, there is one major flaw to this game, it is surprisingly one of the most fustrating games I have ever played. I have seen Jerma's stream (The first Jerma stream I watched) but even then I didn't realize it would be as bad as that, and didn't remember it being that difficult at all. It is honestly that bad and whist not struggling as much as Jerma it was a nightmare to get through.

The game is difficult in the unfair way, with timed races ( one of my most hated gaming tropes) having really limited times. You have do do races using nearly every shortcut otherwise you will simply not make it in time. As most of the game revolves around these type of missions it really does make it allot worse.

The other types of missions are not so bad, doing damage to and enemy car, collecting things on foot, but having to avoid a target is awful. The last mission of the game is almost unbearable. It combines all the fustrating parts of the game with having to race, avoid attackers, collect and item (that destroys when you hit something!), all in the space of a minute.

The only reason I got through the game was through advice online. You have to change vehicles for certain missions which makes the game much easier. Still the fact you have to do that is awful, especially as some missions don't allow you to, the last mission included!

Whilst having so many good qualities and was a game I definitely found interesting, it is a game I can't recommend purely because the game is so fustrating. It is still a good game but you have to go through allot of fustration and objectively bad gameplay to apriciate it.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004 Video Game)
10/10
Dated but is almost perfect
16 February 2022
S tier, 10/10. I played the PS3 version as I had heard it has check points. I know it is regarded as worse than the PS2 version as it has less atmospheric lighting but after playing GTA 4 I think that checkpoints are invaluable in GTA main missions. San Andreas is regarded as one of the best GTA games and open word games in general and despite not playing it in the preferred way I honestly agree with the praise it gets and think it is one of the best games ever made.

It do have several problems with the game, San Andreas, more than any other GTA game felt like such a long game to get through. Not in a bad way, just that it was an effort to play it and nothing else. I did have a break, playing other games instead but I did feel the length of the game allot, especially near the end.

There are a few objectively bad and dated aspects to the game in my opinion. The graphics are obviously dated, some characters look really blocky. The waypoint system doesn't have a guiding line so navigation is a bit more difficult. Cars stop really unrealistically, shooting is very dated and allot missions are unbeatable without using the lock on setting.

The positives easily outweigh these flaws however. The world of San Andreas Is honestly incredible. The detail put into each location is astounding. You can enter and interact will all kinds of shops, there are many side missions and activities to do that are nearly all fun, I don't really like the RC flying or dancing. The world is littered with interesting vehicles, items and weapons to pick up. I just had fun roaming around to see if I could find anything interesting. There is an experional selection of weapons in San Andreas and with my favorites being the chainsaw, katana, asualt rife and desert eagle.

The missions and story are smaller in scale than other GTA games but are more interesting to me personally. Mainly because of the incredible characters. CJ is probably my favorite GTA protagonist next to Niko. You have the iconic big Smoke, Sweet, Cesar, rider, theTruth, woosie the incredible James Woods as Michael Torino and amazing Danny Dyer as Kent Paul, who should have been in the game muuch more. You even have legendary actor Samuel L Jackson as Officer Tenpenny, my favorite villain out of any video game. There are so many other characters I'm sure I've forgotten, just such an incredible areay of interesting characters.

Despite it's flaws San Andreas is just so fun and the world is so detailed it is honestly worth playing at least once as it perfectly encaptures everything about the GTA games for me personally. A game that is worthy of all the praise it gets and worth playing at least once to see if you like it or not.

Mafia III (2016 Video Game)
6/10
Reppetative gameplay but an interesting story
14 February 2022
6.5/10, C tier. As a fan of the previous two mafia games I was really excited to try this one. I know the gameplay of these games is very basic but I love the story and interesting character development these games seem to get right.

For the first hour or so I loved it. The documentary, non linear style was a bit jarring at first but I got used to it. I was really interested in Lincoln Clay and his Vietnam background, it definitely felt right to continue the world of mafia in the 60s/70s.

The music was great and much like the other mafia games the period of the game was perfectly captured. The graphics in this game are gorgeousthe world looks so detailed and looks incredible. The combat is brutal in this game, shooting is really bloody and looks so real. The stealth kills are so brutally realistic but are a bit over powered as it is really easy to avoid enemies in stealth.

The opening part of the game is great, I won't spoil the story but how the game is set up was incredible. The characters who were introduced, one in perticular, were all interesting and I wanted to see where they would go from the first part. From then on however, the story took a back seat, with not much story and mostly missions, it became really monotonous.

The game whist having more freedom than the others in the mafia series, just feels so lifeless after the opening part of the game. It literally becomes completing simple repettative missions one after another with very little story behind each mission.

You have to take out these gang territories by doing certain missons, saving people, killing targets, opening safes, stealing cars. It just goes like this for ages and ages.

Even if there are a few interesting characters who give you missions and help you such as Donovan and Cassandra they have such little impact in the actual missions you do. Yes the first two games have very basic gameplay but it puts its story and characters as the main focus of the game. The story in mafia 3 started out exceptionally but as soon as the story was gone I felt no drive to complete any of the missions.

I was still going to keep playing but I checked how long the game is and it's around 20 hours. I honestly can't be bothered to put that amount of time into this game. Have played around 4-5 hours or so and honestly think my opinion won't change.

I will definitely watch the story on YouTube but I am really dissatisfied the game didn't keep me engaged as long as the others in the series.

4/10
Not terrible but could have been so much better
8 February 2022
4/10, D tier. I don't have much nostalgia for the old GTA games, I did have vice city and played San Andreas for a bit when was younger but as soon as I played the game and started attacking people my parents thought it was too violent and got rid of them. Recently I have been interested in revisiting the older games when this appeared at the right time.

I used ps now to play the games individualy with GTA 3 being released a few months ago and vice city recently. I don't really think my opinion will be changed if I play San Andreas.

I was exited to play GTA3 the most as it started the 3D part of the series and is known for creating what modern world open games are today. As soon as the first cut scene played howver I was stunned at how bad the game looks. I honestly can't think of a triple a studio game that looks this artificial and dated.

The roads are the worst example of dated graphics, looks so blocky and just awful. The audio is so low quality, I'm not sure if the original game has this but the you can hear the microphone or studio sound when people speak. I was just so disappointed more than anything, that rockstar would think this acceptable to display the games that made their legacy in such a poor way.

Vice city was actually not too bad. The audio was good, the character models whislt being slightly off looked okay. The environments were actually great, most buildings and suronding environments looked good with the neon lights creating a brilliant atmosphere at night. The game still felt a bit lifeless though, the pedestrians felt like robots, the punch animation is just so bad. Honestly I would play this version of vice city but it is definitely not worth it for the price of the original release.

I am currently playing the original San Andreas on PS3 and it is great. The game is dated but you can tell how impressive it would have been at the time. The game is still entertaining to this day with lots of side activities, stats to upgrade, clothes to buy, you can even enter restaurants and order different types of food that affects your fat level. It is honestly on track to being my favorite GTA and I will write a review when I beat it.

I'm more disappointed than anything, thses games are talked about so much and have such a legacy behind them i just wish they could be readily available for modern consoles, I wouldn't even mind if they were just ported over. It doesn't help that all other versions of the games on modern consoles have been taken off and replaced by this. Honestly worth a bad rating in itself.

In all just not worth getting. Not worth it at all and I would easily recommend not to get it. I have got a PS2 so I will get the originals at some point but it is such a shame that is the only way to experience them if you don't have a PC.

Ape Escape 2 (2002 Video Game)
10/10
Unironically near perfection
7 February 2022
S tier,10/10. I have no nostalgia for ape escape whatsoever. Even though I grew up with a PS2 it was a game series I had heard about but never played. It wasn't till years later when I saw the HD port of this on the PS4. It was everything I wanted it to be.

The gameplay of ape escape is easily some of the best I have ever played. Such a unique controll scheme that mainly revokes around the analogue sticks. Jumping and camera control is a bit difficult to get used to, not bad but definitely not as refined as it could be. Capturing apes is so satisfying with different types of ape and ones unique to each level. The gatcha ball reward system at the hud was brilliant. Even if you can get reppeats, making completing it so annoying. You don't get a reward but having those jigsaw pieces filled was kind of satisfying. Wouldn't recommend doing it though.

The levels themselves are all interesting and so fun to explore. Such a brilliant mix of settings. Almost any kind of area type you can think of is included, I don't want to spoil any but there is a brilliant selection. Some levels can be a bit to big and difficult to navigate but even then you can use gadgets to explore more easily.

The soundtrack is almost perfect, with that one or two levels having a bit of a repetitive song. Theue all great in but just having some play constantly in a difficult to navigate level is really fustrating.

The bossfights are great, each ape is unique and has so much personality. The yellow ape, just perfect. Collecting all the apes for the final boss was a bit fustrating but made me appreciate all the depail put into the levels.

Despite some flaws I think this game is a must play. Such a brilliant game that should be talked about more. There is so much potential in this kind of gameplay, especially with the PS5 controller. I don't know why the other ape escape games haven't been ported to PS4/PS5, the first one is even on the PS3 store. Apparently ape escape 3 is the best, I ll get it at some point, even if it is only available in PS2 as I love this game so much.

Mafia II (2010 Video Game)
8/10
Almost as good as the original
4 February 2022
8/10, A tier. Definitely not as good as the first but the story is interesting enough to keep the game engaging.

The acting is great, just as human as the first game. I can't really think of anyone who was bad. Standouts of course being Vito and Joe. The period of the game is captured just as well as the first game. The cars, the clothes, the way people speak, all top notch.

The music is incredible and creates such a brilliant atmosphere. With all music taken straight out of the time period and mob movies such as Goodfellas. The game does repeat allot of the same songs though, a minor gripe but one that did bother me a bit.

All these factors are so great yet I still can't get into the game as much as the original. I think it is mainly due to the story still being great and worth playing through but not nearly as solid or engaging as the original. The story feels kind of disjointed, mostly introducing all kinds of things instead of focusing on a singular part of life in the Mafia. I don't want to spoil where the game goes but there are way to many things going on without a singular focus.

I do love the themes the game explores with allot of them being the same as the first game, but I don't think they were executed nearly as well. The main drive for me being how the game connects to the first and the different periods and settings the game explores. The ending felt a bit out of nowhere despite how beautifully brutal it is.

The gameplay is a bit repetitive much like the first game, it is ok for what it is but some missions are just unfair with how many guys there are and how easily they can shoot you. I do love the fact if you fail some missions the story continues as normal. Makes the game feel way more realistic. The fist fights are just bad. Most affective way to win is just to mash circle and maybe dodge a few times with x.

The style of the game is much more dynamic than the first game. The fast edit montages really feel straight out of a mob movie. The world itself has allot more to do. You can enter shops, change clothes, eat at a diner. All great stuff but much like the first game it is mostly a linear story based game.

I did really enjoy the game and am really glad I played it. Definitely not as epic as the first game but still good in its own way.

Party vibes incarnate
29 January 2022
A tier, 8/10. Definitely a breath of fresh air from the bleak realism of the rest of the GTA 4 saga, much more light hearted than either of the other two stories.

It definitely feels like they looked at the complaints about GTA 4 and catered towards them. The lighting is much brighter, the missions are much more fun and whislt being a bit too crazy are still really refreshing and enjoyable. With the exception of an awful helecopter mission and having to loose wanted level after nearly every mission. It's better than in the other parts but having to losing your wanted level ends up being more of a fustration. It doesnt detract from the missions to much but is still incredibly fustrating.

The story and characters are much more over the top and it doesn't feel as high stakes as the other stories. The game definitely has that GTA 5 energy with the same kind of tone and humor. It is very refreshing and different but I definitely prefer Niko's story as the best.

The atmosphere at the clubs always feels so bright, compared to the bleakness of the city l. Seeing characters from the other storys appear was just as great as in the lost and the damned. Roman is just so good.

The mission checkpoints are kept here which is still great. The new weapons are even more over powered than in lost and the damned. The special combat shotgun thing is literally and instant kill. The p90 is such a great assault rifle. Probably my favorite selection of weapons out of any GTA game.

The new dance mechanic in the club is fun and teh music is still as great as the rest of GTA 4. The vice city radio definitely fits this DLC really well.

A great and very different experience to the other parts of GTA 4. The actual missions are much better in general even if the story is a bit weaker than the main game. Definitely spent allot of the game thinking about a tv show with Robert Downey Jr as Gay Tony. Out if all the GTA games GTA 4 would easily make the best tv show.

In short a very different and refreshing story, definitely worth playingif you are a fan of GTA 5.

Decent but not great
26 January 2022
7/10, B tier. Decent dlc that definitely has a weaker story than the main game. It is good for what it is but does feel kind of weak. Jhonny is a decent protagonist but definitely doesn't have much character development.

Thank God they added mission checkpoints. I would however say that some of these missions are worse than GTA 4s. The prison bus one and the one where you take out the mob guys, just so fustrating. The final mission however was incredible. Such a great final mission.

The music is still as great as ever and the new songs are just amazing. Fit the biker theme perfectly and always make the game greater.

I love the new weapons, especially the over powered automatic shotgun but they don't have them in the gun shops to buy ammo so you can't realiably use them.

Loved all the nods to the main game and other dlc but did paint johnny in a less than favourable light.

In all a decent dlc that fixes allot of problems from the main game but ultimately has the same type of awful missions and a less interesting story.

Grand Theft Auto IV (2008 Video Game)
9/10
I wish burger shot was real
25 January 2022
9/10, A+ tier. GTA 4 is such a massive game I don't really know where to begin. First off, the city of liberty city is absolutely stunning. So detailed and full of life. Perfect sized map that has so many things to do. The side activities and mini games are incredible, the hangout and romance options really bring the world to life and add to each character. Niko is probably my favorite GTA protagonist. He is so interesting and has such great interactions with the characters around him. His relationship with Roman is perfect and he is honestly kind of scary with what he says in battle.

GTA 4 definitely feels a lot more real than other GTA games. You can tell the game was ahead of it's time even nowadays. There is so much detail with the internet and phone system that captures that era of technology perfectly and feels so indepth and detailed. As someone who loves the early 2000s aesthetic it captures it perfectly. The other games in the GTA series always seem to balance over the top humor and action with realistic criminal life. GTA 4 seems to have some humor but allot of really grim subjects and grimy dark settings. Nikos past is just so bleak and was sometimes so jarring It almost feels out of place. Brilliant that rockstar tackled these heavy concepts however. I can easily understand why people don't like this tone but it allows for the game to stand out compared to the others in the series.

The music in GTA 4 is the best out of any game in my opinion. So much variety and manages to fit any tone. They even put in music from Koyaanisqatsi which creates such a great impressive atmosphere. I loved the sound design as well. The sound of the train along the tracks, the bustling traffic, all felt so real.

The downside to all of this however is that allot of the actual missions are abysmal. There are no checkpoints so you have to replay missions form Begining to end. Most of the time having to drive to a location during the mission itself. Most missions involve a vehicle but anything involving target chasing or races is just so irritating. That one you have to do with Brucie was just awful. I don't think the realistic handling is all bad. It is great to just drive around the city and the collision is insanely real. Getting it right and zooming past cars is really satisfying. When this is applied to chasing a target however it becomes so awful.

This wouldn't be so bad but so many missions are shootouts or target eliminations or both. The shootouts aren't bad but aren't anything great, I did get frustrated allot as guys can just appear out of nowhere. Also as a minor issue, allot of the character models look kind of ugly. Still look ok but in around 5-10 years there going to age horribly.

I honestly love this game but it has allot of flaws. The story was so real and human but the missions were just so tedious to me. I am so excited for the remaster and honestly think it could be the greatest open world game if it's done correctly. I just hope it isn't like the definitive edition ones as they actually look worse and less charming than the games on PS2.

A game I think everyone should play but go into it bearing in mind the fustrating missions.

Mafia: Definitive Edition (2020 Video Game)
10/10
A mob movie classic
19 January 2022
10/10, S tier. My god this game was incredible. So wrongly seen as a GTA style clone. I still think red dead redemption 2 has my favorite story but this is so close.

It feels like an iconic mob movie with so many realistic and brilliantly acted characters. Tommy himself really has that Robert De Niro charm, especially as he kind of looks like him.

Gameplay is very simple but the shoot-outs are so gory and realistic. Some missions such as the stealth ones are just ok but the story just kept me engaged to get through them.

I did play this on a PS5 with ps now, although I was expecting the game to look good i was surprised by just how fantastic it looks. The game captures the period perfectly and the look of each character just feels so real and human. The music was so fitting for the time, made that trailing mission feel like a comedy though.

The free roam mode is good but there isn't much to do. It's more of a side thing and just exploring all the detailed locations was interesting.

A game I was just so glad was great and much better than I thought. From a narative perspective it is a game I will always think about.

Very fun and over the top YOU EAT BABIES!?
17 January 2022
Talked about it already in the red dead redemption review. A really fun DLC that is honestly one of the best examples of DLC I can think of. Might honestly be the best and most creative next to Witcher 3 and bloodorne.

Has such a different yet similar tone to the main game and is just so fun all the way through.

Incredible but the story is kind of bad
17 January 2022
B tier, 7/10. I hate dead sec and their edgy hacker theme. They are memorable but definitely are really over the top and trying to be edgy. The main character isn't that Interesting or memerable either, I don't even remember his name. The story was really basic and just a typical bad big business guy.

Despite these major flaws I stole enjoyed the game. The shear over the top chaos you can cause by hacking is really fun. You can get the police to arrest strangers, blow up has vents, control cars, controll a drone and all kinds of robotic equipment I remember simply modifying the traffic lights to cause chaos.

Just experimenting with this stuff is really fun. The world of San Francisco in the game is really detailed, It looks incredible and just exploring it was enjoyable to me. I love the sightseeing things where you had to take a photo of a landmark.

The customisation is very limited, with clothes feeling like they were very pre set, some outfits looked really cool and the suits were great, I just wish you could have more freedom in choosing what you wear. I distinctly remember the guns in this game being really realistic, shooting a civilian felt awful, a bit to realistic. The customisation for them was just ok but the noise and how everyone reacts to them was shockingly real.

Honestly I really did enjoy the game, despite a weak story I found it really fun. Just messing around and exploring the city was great. The story was basic but was serviceable and I didn't mind completing it to unlock more things. One of the first games I got on PS4 and I just think it gets a bad rep. Had a great time with this game, definitely weak from a story perspective but found it enjoyable.

Just Cause 4 (2018 Video Game)
6/10
So basic and broken, at least it had a hoverboard
17 January 2022
C tier, 6/10. Lots of good weapons and evriroments but ultimately is such a flawed and broken game. The missions are just so awful. Just cause is a game about destruction and you spend most of the time escorting prisoners. The story is abismaly basic and the villain is just so forgettable. A big business guy that I don't even remember anything else about. There is a great improvement in the tools you can use but there is not any great opportunities to use them in the story. You can use them in really fun ways in the open world feels so broken and basic. It can be really funny but just feels dated, even compared to just cause 3.

I spent hours exploring it to get this really cool graffiti style wingsuit and whilst it looked great I just noticed how baron and boring the world really is. The activities you can do feel so basic and just not worth doing. I love some of the weapons such as the tornado and gravity guns but they run out of ammo so quickly they are not worth using. The dlc is honestly great. You get a hoverboard, which is the most fun thing to use. You can just zoom across land and water and it is really fun. You also get a decent story with the agency attacking, turing on Rico and actually get to destroy things. The agency ships are really fun to explore and destroy. Just feels like what the game was meant to be, especially when compared to the main story.

The hoverboard races are really fun and I love customizing the board. The demonos dlc is so creative and so unique. Destroying all these weird plants and creatures. So satisfying to pop some of the pods and stuff. I really don't like timed races so the racing dlc wasn't fore but for what it wanted to do it was ok. I would honestly rated the dlc 7-8 out of 10 but the game just is so bad and is not worth it.

Felt like such a step back from just cause 3. It seems I've played every just cause game except 2 which people say is the best one. I will try and get it for PS3 or see if it's on ps now or something.

Just Cause 3 (2015 Video Game)
8/10
This game is a real...BLAST
17 January 2022
A tier, 8/10. Grapple hook gameplay is really fun but the story and missions are really boring and repetitive. Did Ravello is a decent villain but the missions and final boss are so basic. I love Medichi and it's Italian esc setting and the pure freedom you get to traverse it with your equipment. The grapple hook ,wing suit combo is difficult at fist but works so well once you get used to it.

All the weapons are good. I don't remember any spesific ones appart from the airstrike one and the bavarium missile one. Destruction and destroying bases is really fun. I spent hours in this game just toying around and soaring above the beautiful landscape. Exploring the cities and areas was really fun as traversal is so great. There are so many vehicles in this game, the air freight carrier especially was my favorite. Very fun game let down by its basic story. Still really enjoyable, just such a fun and beautiful looking game. I haven't played any of the dlc missions but I honestly don't care. I'm sure there ok but they don't seem worth it to me.

Overall a really fun game. I just wish the main missions were a bit more creative.

Gangstar Vegas (2013 Video Game)
1/10
Impressive for an ipad game but just despicable
17 January 2022
F tier, 1/10. I played this on my tablet ages ago. Didn't complete as you need to get gems to play missions. Story is really basic however. Awful and so money grubbing. The graphics are pretty great for ipad but the city is so bare bones. I love all the costumes and vehicles but you need to pay money for gems to get the good ones. Just awful and I've only rated this because unlike most other ipad GTA clone games, this one feels the most like a professional albeit awful and restrictive game.

Red Dead Redemption (2010 Video Game)
9/10
Gameplay is a bit reppetative, story is exeptional
17 January 2022
A tier, 9/10. Why do we need government agents anyway? After playing red dead 2 I decided to watch a playthrough of this on YouTube, loved the story and how well everything fits in. When I got ps now I was very hesitant to play it as knowing how rockstar games play I knew it was going to be a bit repetitive.

I am disappointed to say the gameplay isn't anything great in my opinion. Deadeye is fun but just adds a layer of interest on an otherwise very basic cover and shoot gameplay. Riding around the map is basically half the game and don't even get me started on rustling. I would honestly give this game a 10/10 if that was made more efficient.

Despite all these flaws I would easily recommend this game. The cartoon style is so distinct that it makes the game stand out from so many games of it's type. The music is beyond perfect and so atmospheric. The side activities such as duels and stranger encounters are all great.

The world itself is graphically poorer than red dead 2 but has a lot of the same concepts such as hunting and random encounters. The world istelf must have been exceptional for the time. So many sweeping landscapes and interactions. It is weaker compared to red dead 2 of course but you can tell that alot of effort was put in to make the world feel alive.

The story is what drives the game for me. Such human and compelling characters. Wes Dickens kind of sucks but everyone else feels so real and believable. The theme of redemption is so heavily enforced in this game, maybe even more so than read dead 2. Watching John struggle and used by the law is heartbreaking.

Undead nightmare is great as well. Needs to be added for red dead 2. Definitely over the top but a fun addition that knows not to take itself too seriously.

A game that is definitely dated but is still so great In it's storytelling and style. Definitely a product of it's time but one that will definitely be remembered.

Grand Theft Auto V (2013 Video Game)
9/10
A game for the ages
17 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A tier, 9/10 really great. It is no surprise that this game has made the GTA series still relevant from all the way back in 2013. The constant updates and online expansions allow the game to still be playable 8 years later. Although I'm not big into the online is is cool seeing content still being added to the game. The world of Los Santos is so expansive, you can watch tv, play golf, run a race, play darts and so much more.

The environments and everything are so detailed. I think more than any game this feels like the best for a real life simulator. The story was ok, some great moments but ultimately was just one hest after another. My favorite character was Franklin, the most normal and casual character. Felt like he represented the players experience with the game the most, just someone who gets involved with the story rather than the central focus. Michael and Trevor already feel established whereas It feels like you had the most change with him as he becomes more and more involved with the dangerous criminal world. Michael was also great, basically the main character, really interesting and reminded me of of Bojack horseman. Trevor kind of makes all the crazy stuff you do in GTA fit into a realistic setting, that being someone like him would do those things in real life. Definitely a bit over the top and feels a bit out of place how emotional he gets about Michael but still a good character.

The Villains were ok but didn't feel important at all. Definitely the perfectly annoying jerks but were just killed really easily. I would give this game allot more praise if you could enter stores and houses in director mode. The main characters are interesting but I would love for my custom character to go around Los Santos properly. The customisation and clothes were really limited, I know it is meant to be realistic but it just felt way too restricted. The guns also felt a bit underwhelming. They were all really similar for the most part, I loved the C4 and the AP pistol but there isn't any other weapons that were memorable to me.

There were also some glitches that were really annoying, usually with cars colliding and being stuck. Whist most of the heists are great there are some other missions that were not fun at all. I just looked up the one where you have to find the custom cars, just felt like padding. I also felt there was a limitation on it being realistic, like the running speed is way to slow and the amount of damage you take is a bit to much. Loosing heat in this game is so annoying but that is more of my personal preference. An incredible game that I'm really glad I played but one I definitely have a lot of flaws with.

I do still enjoy it and can really see why open world and crime games are always compared to this, it has done so much right and stood the test of time making it still relevant to this day. It has basically set the premium standard for a great open world. An amazing game that will definitely be remembered.

Yakuza 0 (2015 Video Game)
10/10
Two sides of the same coin
17 January 2022
S tier, 10/10. Such a brilliantly over the top game. The story goes in so many different directions and is just a joy to watch. The combat is satisfying, I loved Majima's set the best and the baseball bat the most. Kiru's beast mode was great too. The open world was perfectly condensed with interesting side missions and plenty of things to do.

The infamous kareoke songs are brilliant, the race car game was exceptional, my favorite was however the dancing, just perfect. It did definitely drag at the end and felt a bit repetitive with the combat but there are so many great story moments and things to keep you playing. The last mission is so great and is such a brilliant set piece ending.

The customisation of your character however is very limited and pretty much non existent. The side missions are great but it is very easy to miss them as you have to explore in so many different areas. This is both good and bad as it forces you to explore but is just very time consuming and fustrating for me personally. I did go back to complete the side missions I missed in free roam mode but it just felt really repetitive and tedious to wander around the streets, exploring every inch of this place just to find a questline. Majima's story goes a bit all over the place after the incredible introduction. Over time it definitely got better but was weaker compared to Kiru's.

I haven't played the later games but several characters such as Kiru's best friend who felt like a major character didn't have much of a role. I'm sure that he is more important in the later games but i am very hesitant to play them, as I feel this style of combat and exploration could really get old after a while. I was interested in the story but I just looked up a video online, which definitely made me want to check out some of the games, I probably will but at a later date.

I did get this game because of Dunkey's review and am glad to say I enjoyed it allot more than him. I do agree with most of his points but the story is definitely better than he made it out to be. I'm not angry or anything I just wish he enjoyed it as much as I did.

In all a game I really enjoyed and just wanted to keep on playing and playing till the end. Definitely one of the most fun games I have played.

Sleeping Dogs (2012 Video Game)
10/10
One of my all-time favs
17 January 2022
S tier, 10/10. Takes a while to get into but just perfect. The combat and finishing moves just work so well. The customisation is great. So much to do, such a unique and interesting city. The music is insanely perfect. I did think the story was a bit simple though, was good but a bit basic. Captures the Hong Kong movie feel perfectly however. The dlc was good but definitely not as worth while as the main story. Gave some great outfits though. The tear gas one, just so much fun. One of my favorite games of all time. Just so fun and a blast to play, timed missions were annoying sometimes but apart from that I enjoyed it so much.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (2015 Video Game)
6/10
Not really a game in itself
17 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
C tier, 6/10. Really just felt like a more expanded dlc. It even keeps your custom character from saints row 4 which is cool but makes it seem more like dlc. The world of hell was a cool setting and I loved seeing returning characters who were dead come back. It really makes sense for Ultor to rain in hell and Vogul to be the slimy suit leader of it.

Should have had Oleg and nightblade in there story was great but the gameplay was literally just doing side missions until the final boss. I liked the fact you could choose the ending, although I wish you could see all of them. The one I chose where gat learns the secrets of the universe was ok but should have had more to it.

I'll search up all the endings but I wish I picked the one where the saints find a new world. If I bought this as a full game and not on ps now I would be very disappointed. A decent is very short game that is basically a bunch of really standard side missions surounded by great characters and an interesting story. I feel i can only give a 6/10 as there isn't really much content at all.

Enjoyable but really not worth it unless you have played saints row 4.

Saints Row IV (2013 Video Game)
8/10
The dance sequence...
17 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
8/10 A tier. Very fun but very repetitive. Kind of like the DS3 of the saints series in that it references the older games allot and has some of the best things in the series but is not as solid as those other games. Obviously DS3 is on another level but it's kind of the same thing. The selection of characters is probably the best out of all of the games. The romance options are crazy, just perfect. Easily has the best weapons and I love how far over the top it goes but it ultimately feels way to easy and much less solid as the other games. Progression is just not nearly as well done in this game, you basically become so insanely strong you can just run past enemies and instantly kill them.

The powers are really fun but pretty much break the game, I do love the whole matrix thing and all the sci-fi references but it did get a bit old near the end. The world itself is really basic, pretty much just a place to run around in. The fight with the player characters of SR2 was great, all the gangs returning was good too. It did just make me think about how SR2 was better but it's not a big deal. I loved the nightmare prison part, just so great. Shaundi's was easily the best and most interesting but I loved the vice king guys one. The spy woman's one literally stole my idea of facing yourself! It wasn't executed that well though as it was in a basic spy parody and you and your doppleganger had the preset face which was really disappointing. I'm so glad Gats back.

Pretty much the face of the saints and saints row 3 was definitely worse for not having him in much. There is the brute gat but that doesn't really count. The final boss was ok, nothing special and not nearly as great as the choice finale of saints row 3. Loved becoming emperor of the universe and the awful dance scene at the end. The Christmas dlc was good but really short, enter the dominatrix was great and had a great boss at the end, just wish it wasn't so meta.

In all saints row 4 is really fun but is definitely not my favorite saints game, was really enjoyable and I think the selection of characters might be the best but the gameplay gets really old after a while. A really fun game that definitely has a lot of flaws but is still exceptionally fun.

Saints Row: The Third (2011 Video Game)
8/10
Very fun,Yup
17 January 2022
8.5/10 A tier, really fun. Got it because it is meant to be the best in the series, in competition with 2. Really fun, wacky story. Just a great over the top game, the city was very baron but the activities were fun. Insurance fraud, the genki games, trial blazing and sky panda where my favorites. I like that the main villain isn't the gangs in this one and is a much larger threat. Im not sure if it's a spoiler so I won't say who they are. The gangs however in this were very weak and the villain they set up at the beginning was so poorly used in my opinion. The tech gang was good but a very minor if kind of cool threat. Just a great over the top game, the city was very baron but the activities were fun. Insurance fraud, the genki games, trial blazing and sky panda where my favorites.

I will always adore the customisation, just so great, there are so many clothes and ways your character can look. I like how you gradually get upgrades and new weapons, you do feel really over powered later on but progression is really well done none the less.

I wish your hideout wasn't always the same, you conquer a casino but when you do it just turns into another one of your penthouses. There are very few shops that aren't the saints chain of store, the graphics aren't bad but definitely feel like a restored PS3 game. If the open world had more to it I would probably give it a 10/10. The main missions also felt a bit repetitive and a lot of them were basically the side activities. I'm really glad I played it, definitely has a few flaws but was really enjoyable. Just not as expansive or interesting as SR2.
