Journey to Hell (2022)
a remarkable movie
This is a remarkable movie. I actually cried when i left the theater, because i was inspired, impressed, and touched my the message. Hollowood needs to make more movies like this, because there are so many dirty movies out there, that have a bad message to them, and there are few family/friendly movies. I highly recommend this to anyone. Also the filmmaker's other movie 'David and Goliath' is free to view on YouTube. Don't let the negative critics get you down. Jesus said if they hated me, they will hate you....
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Good family film - we need more
Tired of all the violent films coming from Hollywood. Andy(John Morris)is off to camp and Woody(Tom Hanks)is on the shelf with a damaged arm. During this time to themselves Woody discovers that he's become a rare collector's item and is swiped by an out-of-control toy collector(Wayne Knight). Leading a rescue detail is of course Buzz Lightyear(Tim Allen). Woody is about to be sold to another collector when he meets Jessie the Cowgirl(Joan Cusack)...is it real love? It would be great to have Woody back on the shelf before Andy returns from camp. And its an all-out mission that requires most of Woody's toy box friends. A very good sequel leaving you wanting another TOY STORY.
David and Goliath (2015)
This is the first movie for which I've needed tissues...
I have seen hundreds of movies, many of them great work, and several that drew tears.
But never before have I seen a movie that drew tears at regular intervals.
Nor have I ever before wanted so desperately to protect a character.
The fact that such a tormentor as Goliath ever lived, and could find the strength and evil and tenacity to inflict pain, is astounding. God is just the opposite - He is wonderful.
I loved the ending where his brothers finally recognize David's mission and realize it's the last time they will see him. Everyone in my group were in tears.
I think it impacted me a lot because I've accused good people and tried to stop them sometime as us all.
Father forgive me for the times when I judge and accuse wrongfully. Thank you for showing the true path of love and forgiveness.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Decent film
As a faithful rendering of the book squeezed into a two-and-a-half hour period, the movie is beautifully done. I don't have a single complaint about any of the actors, who successfully bring to life, with the aid of costume design and special effects, the many colorful characters from the book. My favorite character, the giant Hagrid, is played by Robbie Coltrane, and I say with no exaggeration that he is exactly how I imagined him while reading the book. It's as if they took the image in my mind and transferred it to the screen. While I had my own personal image of Snape (for some reason, I always imagined him as the head villain from another Chris Columbus film, "Adventures in Babysitting"), Alan Rickman is perfect in the role. I usually expect to have words of criticism for some performances, but I just don't. The remaining adult actors, including Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall and Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore, are as good as they possibly could be, and the kids do an excellent job of holding their own against these veterans. Some have criticized Daniel Radcliffe for appearing too subdued in the title role, but that's exactly how the character is portrayed in the book: modest, unassuming, and laid-back. The kids who play Harry's two best friends are flawless.
I had a lot of worries about the fact that it was being directed by Chris Columbus, whose entire directorial career so far has consisted of over-the-top slapstick films. I was pleasantly surprised that he did not direct the Harry Potter film in this way. Except for brief moments like the children's delayed reaction to a giant three-headed dog they encounter and Harry's swallowing the quaffle ball, there is nothing here to remind us that this film is directed by the same person who gave us films like "Home Alone" and "Mrs. Doubtfire." Indeed, I think Columbus may have gone just a tad bit too far in trying not to make the film seem cartoony. I would have liked to see a little more emotion on the actors' faces at certain times. Overall, however, his restraint works nicely in giving the film the kind of believability the book possesses.
A Few Good Men (1992)
Solid film
I must say this film surprised me. Coming in, I knew nothing about it but the famous courtroom scene... I didn't know I was in for such a strong experience.
This film had me from the first few moments of it. I never lost interest. The plot is so interesting and intriguing, you can't help but watch, often at the very edge of your seat. I will say that I found one twist somewhat predictable, but maybe I've just seen too many later movies before watching this. There is a lot of suspense in this film.
The writing is solid. At times, there seemed to be a little too much humor and some scenes were maybe a tad long, but apart from that, there was not really anything with this film that was flawed. The score is great. The pacing is incredibly good. The acting is really good all-round. I was completely into this movie all the way. The humor is very good and surprisingly tasteful for the theme.
Dave (1993)
Saw it again!
Just saw this film again and it's amazing.
When I first thought about watching this film with my family I thought it would be some kind of cheap fish out of water movie, but I was so wrong. It was really funny and touching at the end. It tells a story about Dave who becomes president.
The story is exciting but light hearted and a pleasure to watch I would recommend this film to any one who enjoys good quality, feel good movies and any age. The acting is brilliant (Kevin Kline and Sigourney) as the stars put over the fact that they having a good making it as well as the characters. Well done to all who made this and I hope feature views have as much fun watching this film as I did!
When a Man Loves a Woman (1994)
Terrific film.
Great film about addiction! Not just romance, but how to help someone in need. Everyone needs to see this film again and again.
The acting was amazing and the locations.
You finish this movie wondering, and hopeful. The human spirit has such capacity for love and compassion, and our modern society such drive to deny and eliminate it. Wonderfully crafted performances by Meg and Andy. Good writing and direction. There are moments that echo right into our own lives, and humour that makes you smile with your soul. I wish all Hollywood films could be like this.
What I also loved was the lack of profanity.
