Bob Hearts Abishola (2019)
A really fun to watch comedy with heart
I just finished watching season 2 episode 9 and decided to write a review. It was so much fun to watch that it made my evening especially since I have been in isolation for months. I have loved this show from the beginning but it is just getting better all the time. There are numerous laugh out loud moments as well as heartfelt moments. These types of comedies usually have one member of the couple as an underling. It is refreshing to see that these two main characters have strong personalities each with their own human foibles. It is also wonderful to see a different culture portrayed in such a positive light. I hope it has a long run when too many feel good shows get canceled way too soon.
Truth Be Told (2019)
Interesting show, keeps my attention
I don't understand the negative reviews. I find the acting by Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul (who I love) to be superb. My attention span is not what it used to be so I cannot watch slow moving shows. This one has kept my attention and I don't find myself wandering off because the story line is not just about the plot but also about the characters.
The Good Fight (2017)
Excellent writing, excellent cast
I am so thrilled to finally have a great TV series to watch again after Breaking Bad. The stories are timely and the characters are well developed, real, and, imperfect. I wish there were more episodes.
Ransom (2017)
Love this series with fresh story line each week
I am thoroughly enjoying "Ransom". It captures and keeps my attention throughout each episode. The story lines are varied and fresh and depend on intellect rather than brawn and muscle. The interactions between the characters could be more developed but they do form a cohesive team. The acting is on par with other top rated TV shows. I definitely recommend this series.
The Orville (2017)
Worth watching
I am really enjoying watching "The Orville". It very much has a "Star Trek" feel to it. In my opinion it is not primarily a comedy though there are some funny parts, especially the opening scene in episode two. Each episode deals with a timely theme but without being too judgmental. It leaves it up to the viewer to decide what side of the argument to be on. If you are a real "Star Trek" fan I believe you will really enjoy this show.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Way to slow in its development (may contain spoilers)
Just to be straight here, I loved, loved LOVED Breaking Bad. The writing, directing and acting were impeccable. I was so looking forward to watching Better Call Saul to get some more of the best writing on TV. I am sticking with it but I find the long pauses, which I know are used for effect, really are too long and detract from the flow of the story. I find myself watching with the remote in hand and fast forwarding through the long shots of sighs and questioning, musing facial expressions. For this reason, I give this show a measly 6.
