Bob Marley: One Love (2024)
Alright
Good film but skipped over a lot of important details. It would have been way better to set up from his childhood rather than the final few years of his life in which I assume most people already know. Would have added more depth to the plot. Another thing is the abrupt ending of the film, showing some text about Bobs death and what he did a years prior to it. I believe if the film did focus on his last moments recreated, the impact of his death would be stronger to those who barely know anything about him. Overall I did enjoy hearing his classic songs from a different perspective as well as the scenes of Jamaica itself which resonated with me and my heritage.
Sumotherhood (2023)
tries hard to be way too funny
This movie is the definition of that one student in secondary school whose whole humour consists of repeating and rinsing the same jokes over and over, but now attempts to make a full career out of it. I think due to this, as well as the fast pace, that some of the jokes land half ass or don't sink in very well leading to really dull segments. The forced in lingo gets tiresome within the first 20 minutes to the point making you think if the script was either AI generated or written by the same people who wrote the last season of Top boy. Fortunately there were moments within the movie(particularly the first half) where the jokes were genuinely funny.
Was gonna give it a 4 but it was genuinely good to see faces from the old YouTube 2011 era such as the two main characters themselves and others( Diary of a Badman, Smokey barbers and Black and Brown). Not to mention the acting is top notch and the budget was utilised well.
Overall it's a film I would recommend to watch once and not numerous times.
Masamune-kun No Revenge (2017)
Terrible development/build up
Imagine watching 12 whole episodes just to find out at the end both of the main characters barely developed anything with each other. Even the chick who had the med problems and almost was on the verge of dying(neko I think) was way better than the fmc and had more focus. She had a whole good backstory and here I was thinking they were gonna add some more development on why she actually was liked the mc and wanted to experience love with him before she dies one day from her condition but ofc it had to change focus onto side characters who just there to build the sub plots. Its a ehh anime nevertheless but definitely has a terrible ending or even a rushed build up to the ending since the writers realised neko wasn't the fmc of the anime and changed it completely with 2 terrible sub plots at t
he end that revolve around the main characters but do nothing at the end which makes you question the actual motivation of the mc.
Iron Man: Armored Adventures (2008)
A solid ironman show
After taking my nostalgia glasses off and re-watching it some time later tbh I liked the idea of the teenager stark in a sense it kinda works while being kinda kid friendly(not displaying older Tony's drinking problems) at the same time, sure Tony's origin here could have been better but the show felt original rather than giving us the same ironman story we're all use to. The villains were actually done really good here, many small ironman villains were in the spotlight and given their own strong plots and episodes such as the controller ghost and Mr fix and one had a good redemption arc about the living laser himself and realising he can be helped. I like how they altered crimson dynamo origin rather than making him a villain and made the mandarin and stane a whole threat in this show but it kinda gets stale at s2 when they introduce hammer but solid villains nether the less. Unfortunately the animation and cgi can be really terrible at times(makes sense for the 6/10 reviews) and characters, backgrounds (especially the city which can be low textured sometimes) are so reused it's so apparent its disappointing and the writing can get cheesy especially with the spiderman inspired jokes and characters such as pepper can be a pain while others like rodes are good. With a banger and iconic theme song, ironman aa is a solid ironman show and judged too much overall and could have been better if s3 wasn't cancelled.
