It's okay...
28 May 2024
The first strangers in 2008 left me with an uncomfortable feeling after having finished watching it. I had no expectations going into this strangers film, and as such I wasn't left entirely disappointed. Whilst the film does stick to similar horror movie tropes, it does make an effort at a few points during the film to keep away from said tropes, whilst they're not entirely effect, they've put in the effort. Madeline Petsch and Froy Gutierrez star as the titular characters, who I commend on having believable on-screen chemistry. Their acting was commendable, and as such made the film more believable when it came to scenes that required us the audience to understand the dire gravity of the scenes in the film. Whilst the first film in a three part series didn't meet most of my expectations, I am interested in seeing what the other 2 films will have in store for the audience.

Oh the joy that is Hacks
28 May 2024
After having binged watched all 3 seasons of Hacks, I can with my own personal opinion state that this is one of the best comedy shows made to date. Jean Smart is a powerhouse of a true performer. Starring as the titular character 'Deborah Vance' she manages to be a funny yet immensely flawed character who isn't afraid of becoming better thanks to her cowriter Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) who brings out the humanity in her. Throughout the 3 seasons one cannot stop and root for Deborah's successes and snark at her mistakes. The show is well aware of the times we're in and makes no mistake of letting us know it. The greatest moments in this show happen when we see the vulnerable side's to the titular characters and see how they become and evolve into better people at the end of the day. If one hasn't seen this show, I would advise that they do so immediately!!!

Charmed: Chick Flick (2000)
Season 2, Episode 18
10/10
One of my favorite episodes
13 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Growing up and watching charmed was an immensely enjoyable and memorable time for me. They're episodes that will immediately make me feel better, be it that they're a little cheesy or be it that they're over the top. Chick Flick is one of those episodes that just makes me feel better. The humor, the dialogue, the acting are just fun and the cast leans into it. This episode was released when I was 3 years old at the time, but it genuinely has stood the test of time every time that I watch it. One of my favorite lines has to be; "I think you're swell Phoebe. But I don't know how this happened or how I'm supposed to be. Everything I've ever known, understood, touched it's all been scripted, I had no choice. But here, here you have options. Where to go, what to say, what to do". The love I have for this episode is unfathomable.

Immensely Addictive
4 February 2024
I had initially watched 2 episodes of the first season and had forgotten about the show thereafter, until recently when I decided to rewatch the show. I cannot believe I had slept on such an amazing show. The first season was brilliant, it was dark and had just the right amount of mystery, drama and humor to carry each episode alongside the actors. The second season was nothing short of brilliant and luckily did not fall into the slump that some second season shows tend to fall into. All of the actors deserve recognition, but the two main actors that stood out for me; Natalie (Juliette Lewis) and Misty (Christina Ricci) the depth of emotion that they both added to their characters makes them some of the most memorable characters in my personal opinion. I cannot wait to see what the 3rd season brings, alas we have to wait until 2025. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who loves mystery, supernatural, psychological thrillers.

Mean Girls (2024)
8/10
One of the best musicals
13 January 2024
Having read up online that the new mean girls was set to be an adaptation of the broadway musical I had some doubts as I'm not the biggest fan of musicals. However, upon finishing the film without a doubt this film was one of the best musicals I have seen in recent memory. The film being a musical offers us more insight into the characters and why they opted to make the choices that they made. I know that probably won't make much of an impact with most of the people seeing this film. But being able to go deeper into a characters mind especially when it comes in the form of a musical is a wonderful thing for a person like myself who is autistic. Apart from the musical aspect of the film, the film offers us a refreshed and modern mean girls with just the right amount of sass. I sincerely hope that Renné Rapp is nominated next year for as many awards as possible she killed it in this film (from her acting, to comedic timing to her singing) she definitely deserves all of the praise that she is receiving and then some. The only down side I would say is that the film at times felt a little too clustered with all of the musical numbers and it took me a while to get into Karen's character (Avantika Vandanapu) but she eventually grew on me and her acting towards the later half of the film improved drastically. Anyone saying they don't see the need for the new film needs to wake up and smell the coffee, the film was adapted from the broadway musical if you like it then you like it and if you don't but don't leave mean reviews.

The Exorcist: Believer
6 October 2023
I went into the cinema with no expectations, as I've come to learn having expectations and said expectations not being delivered upon leads to disappointment. Whilst this sequel will never live up to the original it genuinely does have moments that are truly amazing. The first part of the film does a good job of setting up the backstory for the girls, whereas the latter half is where the scares and chaos begins. Whilst I had hoped for more scares, the film did a good job at leaving me creeped out. The film brings into question how far will one's beliefs take them? How far is a family member willing to go to get back the person that they love the most? It brings an element of surprise as the traditional way of performing an exorcism is not the only one used. Bringing back Ellen Burstyn whilst nostalgic felt like a cheap move that was done with the intention of having it replicate the likes of Halloween and Scream (both of which managed to replicate it immensely well). In conclusion the film was good, it had really amazing moments that could've been bettered (jump scares and a few more creepy moments) however it lingered a tad bit too long on moments that did not need this opportunity.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)

It was... okay
25 July 2023
Now I know that what I might say might be a tad bit controversial... but I genuinely for the life of me do not understand how people are giving this film such high reviews and Barbie such low reviews. I watched these two films together (started with Barbie and then Oppenheimer) and wholeheartedly speaking Barbie comes on top (there was depth to the characters, the performances were amazing, the storyline brilliant, the emotions and humor tugged at your heartstrings). The same cannot be said for Oppenheimer. The film was good, not amazing but good. The cinematography was fantastic, performances brilliant. However, at 3 hours long the film did not keep my attention, if anything I fell asleep only to wake up towards the middle of the movie which is why I'm giving my score of 7/10. The storyline dragged, the characters were written well but were tiring to watch at times. I would say wait for the film to come out on Apple TV and rent it from there.

Barbie, Barbie, Barbie
22 July 2023
I somehow managed to convince my immensely macho friend to watch this film with me and boy was it an amazing experience! Margot Robbie added a level of depth to this character that has previously never been shown. Her performance wholeheartedly needs to garner her every award for acting. Ryan Gosling as Ken also needs awards, he was immensely funny and showed emotions at the right time. America Ferreira needs to win an award for best supporting actress, her monologue towards the end was just wow!!! The film has a ton of heart, humor and the ability to make you go from being sad, reflecting life to laughing out loud. I would highly recommend that everyone watch this film, it's quite the experience.

Scream VI
9 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The sequel to last years scream V honestly lives up to the expectations that it set forth. I gave scream V a 7/10 due to a few issues that I had, but this new scream managed exceed my expectations. It was dark, tons of gore, it was raw and hit you in the most brutal way. The fact that ghost face could literally be anyone, anywhere is what made this scream that much more terrifying. There's a scene between ghost face and Mindy in the subway that just sent chills down my spine, it's the sheer fact that it happened in a crowded subway and no one saw anything. Yes, there were flaws but honestly you forget about them when you take in the film as a whole. The suspense was there, the action, the acting (Melissa improved tremendously with her acting) and how vengeful ghost face was made this one of the best scream films in the series.

Sick Film
14 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think there was a better film to review as my first film of 2023. Kevin Williamson has done it again. From start to finish the film was intriguing, the chase scenes were done wonderfully. The two main actresses were brilliant and their performances were top tier (I hope they do something similar again). The twist that the film had was just jaw dropping, and it never occurred to me that might be a motive! The only reason I'm not giving this film 10/10 was because the characters did foolish things that irked me (DJ not running out the door but rather trying to kick the killer, or Parker standing and watching DJ getting killed longer than she should've). I highly recommended this film to anyone who is interested in a good horror film.

One of the best shows of 2022
4 December 2022
I was initially going to rate this show an 8/10, mainly due to the fact that whilst it is pretty good they're a few hit and miss moments for me. However, after coming onto IMDb and seeing how many people gave the show a 1/10 and called it atrocious, I've changed my rating to a 10/10. It's one thing to give your opinion, but a completely different thing to review bomb a show for the sake of doing so. And no, I'm not being paid by Netflix (user you know who you are). The show whilst it does have its flaws, is really good. The colors, the acting (amazing performance from Jenna Ortega), the story and the twists are amazing. I sincerely hope they keep up the pace with the 2nd season and I hope that Jenna wins all the awards come next year.

Wow!!!
22 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Before I even begun watching the show, I had thought that the show would be based off of the Bermuda Triangle for some reason. Now that I've finished watching the show, I know how wrong I was. The show has so many things happening, but keeps them glued together with its many twists and turns. I loved the acting from the actors, I loved that they all spoke different languages. There's something so raw about seeing people who are unable to understand each other, but work towards a common goal of surviving. I had an inkling that the characters were trapped in some sort of simulation (similar to don't worry darling) so that didn't catch me off guard too much. However, them being in space did catch me off guard. This has to be one of the best shows to premiere this year, and I can't wait for the next season. The reason I'm not giving the show 10/10 is due to the pacing of things. It felt like there was too much filler at times to extend the story, and it didn't seem necessary. Regardless, the show is amazing and a must see.

One of the best MCU films
13 November 2022
Black Panther 2, wow!!! I went into the theater knowing that this film would touch on Chadwick Bosemans death, but I had no idea how in depth it would go. The characters mourn the death of their king, whilst also having to fight off a new threat. In the moments between how the characters process their emotions was done amazingly. The 5 stages of grief were present, and the emotion was there and it felt like you were grieving with them. Praise needs to be given to Angela, Letitia and Danai! They have amazing performances. There was a twist in the film that I will not be spoiling that caught me off guard and saw black panther raise the stakes. The pacing of the film at times was drawn out but made up for by the multiple fast paced action scenes. I honestly can't wait to see what they do with black panther 3. The film genuinely was one of the best MCU films, the acting, the plot, the cinematography, the cgi were on point. I would highly recommend this film.

Viola The Woman King
25 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This film was just brilliant! I cannot put into words how beautiful it was to see an all black female cast on the big screen. Lead by the ever so beautiful and talented Viola Davis. The other main characters were brilliant as well, and giving credit where credit is due Lashana Lynch even out performed Viola in certain parts during the film. The film was difficult to watch at certain parts, but those were the parts that needed to be seen as difficult as they might have been. In the end the film focused on two central points; the colonizers/enslavers and the men who wished to see the Dahomey fail at any price. The women proved that they did not need men in their tribe to succeed and they proved it very well. The acting, the story, the pacing were brilliant. I genuinely am unable to find any faults within this film.

I'm a derry girl
25 October 2022
This show always popped up on my recommendations, but I had never given it a second glance until a week ago. My word is this a brilliant show! The acting was amazing, the story brilliant it has so much heart and humor that my heart hurts now that it's all over. The show encompasses so many things, but the main theme is bravery. Being brave on difficult times despite not knowing the outcome. I genuinely am trying to see why people would review this show 1/10, but alas I'm unable to see it. The show had me laughing from start to finish. The main actors had chemistry, sass, and were so well written that I saw myself in all of them. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who hasn't seen it! You will not regret it.

Truly magnificent
16 October 2022
I waited until I watched the entire season of this show before I could give my review. This show honestly and truly is magnificent, despite what the low reviews say (which come from angry middle aged men). This show was meant to be its own show apart from the movies that came out, and that's exactly what it is. The cgi, cinematography, and the story are just beautifully done. The acting is good but has its moments where it can be a hit and a miss. Despite what reviews say the main lead character Galadriel is phenomenal as a character as is the actor that portrays her. The story starts off with a slow pace, but quickly picks up giving us the finest season finale of a show in 2022. People need to give this show a watch and not have an expectations going into it. I cannot wait for further seasons.

There was no need for this film
14 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first film in the Halloween trilogy was brilliant, the second film was goodish, the latest and last installment shouldn't have been made. I'm immensely confused as to why there needed to have been a third film in the series, it truly didn't add anything to the conclusion of the story. I feel like two films would've been good enough, maybe if the third film was good I would have a different perspective. 2 hours of this film was was too long, it felt like they had way too much going on and the directors were trying to convince us that there was need for a third film. Some of the scenes didn't make sense or weren't cohesive with what followed afterwards. Michael was weak, then started mentoring a new generation Michael only to end up killing him, regained his strength from somewhere and eventually ended up in a grinder. Laurie was happy, then became suspicious of her nieces new boyfriend, pretended to be suicidal only to trick 'Michael' and Michael then actually was suicidal but for a split second because she had to kill the real Michael. The only reason I'm giving the film 5/10 is mainly due in part to the fact that this will be the last time we see Jamie Lee portray Laurie Strode, and because the few jump scares that were there genuinely caught be off guard. I can't with full confidence call this a proper ending to a film nor would I call it a Halloween film. If it weren't for Laurie and Michael this would genuinely be a run of the mill horror film. I would suggest people skip this film, but that's just my personal opinion.

Better than I expected
12 October 2022
I'm genuinely intrigued to see where this show will go. Supernatural it is not, but it's honestly very promising. I do understand the negative reviews, it's not going to be to everyone's liking and that's perfectly okay. I think after the disappointment that the series finale offered, a lot of supernatural fans thought that this show might be a redemption arc in someways. I personally don't have the same view, but I can understand where people are coming from. The acting is a hit and miss at times, but by far not the worst out there. The pilot happened in a blur because of how fast everything was happening, but it was still enjoyable. For some reason the main guy who portrays John resembles Sam (Jared) in a way. The supporting actors (Carlos and Latika) added a bit of humor to the storyline. The horror element wasn't really there, but maybe the rest of the series will have it? It also gave me a national treasure vibe for some reason. In the end I was personally happy with the pilot although I wanted a lot more, but what they had was good enough for now.

Watch for the story not the scares
12 October 2022
I initially thought that I was going to set off watching the show because I wanted to be scared and because it was Halloween but was soon proven wrong. This show isn't about the jump scares or how scary it is, it's about the story as a whole. Knowing that you're about to die because of something you can't possibly control is one of the worst things a person can go through. At the end of the day this story is about fearing death and wanting to fight to the bitter end to not let one's life slip away just like that. Yes, it did have a horror element and yes those moments were a hit and miss but the most part the story at large was the reason I carried on watching the show. I wanted to give the show a 10/10 but the story at times was a tad bit lazy, and the characters made foolish decisions all for the sake of progressing the story. But my oh my was this show worth every moment I spent on it.

Don't Worry Darling, It's Pretty Good
12 October 2022
I watched don't worry darling last night, and I really thought I was going to be in for a snooze fest. However, the film surprised me immensely. Florence Pugh is a force to be reckoned with and she genuinely carried the entire film. I will give recognition to Olivia Wilde for her direction of the film, it was intense, mesmerizing, and the cinematography outstanding. As a supporting actress Olivia does deserve props, but wholeheartedly Florence was the star of the film. Harry Styles needs to stop acting for a bit because I'm seeing him appear in everything these days and it's becoming monotonous. He's acting abilities whilst not the worst I've seen aren't the best, and he needs proper acting classes. Chris Pine was good, and had a few good moments but not enough to be considered for an Oscar. The overall film was amazing, I personally did not see the twist at the end coming but it was a good twist nonetheless. I would highly recommend this film for anyone hesitant to watch it. I would've given it a 10/10 but Harry styles acting lowered the score and I felt like at times there were a few pacing issues.

She-Hulk (She-Amazing)
6 October 2022
Was I skeptical about this show at first? Yes, yes I was. But after watching the show for close to 7 episodes now it truly is one of my favorite shows. I'm not going to compare it to other shows, because this show is a stand alone show and deserves to be treated as such. Tatiana Maslany is phenomenal as She-Hulk and does an amazing job at breaking the 4th wall, she does it with ease and so much humor. The show is very self aware of itself and even portrays that through the online memes etc. This is one of the things I love about this show. Is the CGI not the best, yes any person can tell it's not the best but it doesn't matter because at the end of the day the story, Tatiana and the rest of the amazing cast make up for it. I'm genuinely laughing at the 1 star reviews which majority of I can guarantee (and prove) are by mid aged men #sad. I'm a man myself, but I have better things to do with my life than review bomb a show for the sake of doing so. However, closing off my review, if someone hasn't seen this show I would highly recommend it!

Jeepers Creepers Reborn
5 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I initially thought that the 1 star reviews were a bit too harsh. But 30 minutes into the film I understood the reviews. The two main actors had questionable acting, and by questionable I mean really horrible, not only them but the supporting actors as well. The use of CGI was a bit too much. Also, the main guy (Imran Adams) had an awful American accent, he needs to stick to his English accent and TAKE A LOT OF ACTING CLASSES (sorry not sorry). The horror element wasn't there, it was just a bunch of 'actors' coming together and pretending it was a horror film with a few gruesome scenes. Also how does a character have a random first aid kit with them? And what was up with the creepy bird? Also imagine proposing to your girlfriend in a cemetery. I will say that the element of foresight with the main lady did appeal to me (a bit). They used the same clip of the creeper in the van as they did in the beginning of the film to prove that he exists, lol. It definitely feels like a few of the scenes were put together last minute just to be used as filler moments to prolong the story. And to the individuals that gave the film 10/10, y'all either did it to spite the 1 star ratings or you're immensely deluded of what a good horror film is meant to be like. In the end, this 'film' shouldn't have been made or even seen the light of day the film truly deserves the 1 star rating.

A good start
24 August 2022
Going into the first episode of house of the dragon I promised myself to have an open mind and I'm glad that I did. The series whilst it might be similar in tone to GOT manages to create its own show centred around very strong characters. From the get go the show establishes a struggle for power, and boy is it exciting to witness. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has to offer!

THORoughly enjoyed it but...
5 August 2022
The latest entry in the MCU and in the Thor universe doesn't disappoint but neither does it wow. I absolutely loved Cristian Bale's performance, he genuinely is one of the scariest MCU villains in my personal opinion. I loved the Chemistry between Chris H and Natalie Portman, and the fact that Natalie became the mighty Thor was also pretty cool. However, apart from good performances, and some good cgi the film was missing a bit of magic. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something more was needed to make this film absolutely amazing. I would say people should definitely watch it in the Cinemas but also that they should wait.

The best since the original
27 July 2022
Having grown up with the original, this new show/reboot does an amazing job at following on the legacy that the original left behind. I love the fact that they have included a horror esque type of vibe to the show, as some of the reviewers stated the only thing that the original PLL needed more of was a horror element. I can't wait to see more of this show!!! Would highly recommend it :)

Edit; the second season is terrific!!! I love how they pay homage to so many different horror films and to the genre itself.
