The Beautiful Game (2024)
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
I love my football and was completely shocked that I'd never heard of the Homeless World Cup
As someone who was, as a teenager, homeless for 2 years I am very quick to recognise how easy it is for your life to fall apart very quickly, so I was able to identify with the stories that underpin this wonderful film
A film about redemption, love, camaraderie, friendship, it has it all
My wife, who hates football, cheered every goal whilst I sat, throughout the closing minutes, with tears in my eyes and enormous lump in my throat
The next time the Homeless World Cup is in Europe I will definitely be there
This film has so much to teach us and I will be recommending it to EVERYONE.
The Lovers (2023)
Very good little gem - however
This was a very good little series and thoroughly enjoyable few hours
However, one rather large plot hole
In episode five Janet reveals that she served three years for Loyalist terrorism back in the day.
For this to have happened the aforementioned jail term would have been, at the very latest, in the mid nineties. Given that the series is set in the present day Janet would have been between four and eight when she was banged up for three years. Did the writers overlook the Good Friday Agreement?
A shame as, other than that, it was a very good comedy which shone a light on how life has very much changed for the better in Northern Ireland over the last three decades.
Time (2021)
Brilliant
My wife suggested this last night.....I binged it in one hit and will happily say it's one of the best dramas I have ever seen
Perfect on every level and should be shown to every teenager who thinks prison would be a breeze.....I would last 1 day inside.
