Enjoyable comedy
25 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
As a child I remember seeing Cannon and Ball on the TV every Saturday evening at the height of their popularity. I brought this DVD, although I had seen the film many years ago when I was little. Cannon and Ball star as two inept police officers of Little Botham, where there is little for them to do. Bobby has a supermarket ( built into the police station!) Eric Sykes is brilliant as the Chief constable, who is irritated within seconds of meeting the boys in blue.Valueable paintings are being stolen and the boys try to catch the criminals in order to avoid being merged with another police station. All in all a very enjoyable comedy

All in all - disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this, and whilst I admit some of the special effects were good, I felt there were some parts of the film that could have been a lot better as it digressed too far from the original story in places.

The dialogue and some of the acting was corny. The aliens looked too far fetched, the head martian looked like a cross between something out of star wars and war of the worlds. Whilst the more 'lowly' martians looked out of place as again a cross between the war of the worlds aliens (1950's original) only with teeth! A bit over exaggerated I thought, especially where one of the aliens appears to be 'laughing' after his counterpart eats the school teacher! Speaking of which, I thought the scene of her eating a frog, had no real importance or relevance in the film for that matter.

One of those films to watch once, and forget!!

watch it if you're absolutely bored senseless and you can think of literally nothing else to do

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this film a while ago with my brother and mum.We were looking forward to watching it as we thought it would be an interesting, entertaining film. We were however, disappointed.

From the start of the film the pace was I felt rushed in parts, it seemed to lack direction and 'flitted' from scene to scene with little explanation as to why. Prior to watching the film we(my brother and I) knew a little about Joe Meek. I didn't do any reading before watching the film to find out anything else about him.

The film focused on Two aspects of Meek's portrayed personality- 1) homosexuality and 2) Frequent temper tantrums- and that's it , thats the basis of the story. There's a brief appearance of singer's Billy Fury(the tornado's were at one time his backing group) and Gene Vincent. The portrayal of Vincent is in my opinion 'cringeworthy' and disappointing.

In short, my advice is watch it if you're absolutely bored senseless and you can think of literally nothing else to do.

Elvis and Me (1988 TV Movie)

Very Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this TV movie as I came across it on you tube. I am an avid Elvis fan and collector, and whilst I am not one of these people who believe Elvis had no faults I thought the film focused too much on the dark side of his personality. Its common knowledge that Elvis had a temper,as do most people, and its apparent he could be quite unpleasant at times. However, what seemed odd if that the film focused completely on the moody sullen side of Elvis, instead of being a more balanced view of him.. It could have been much better. For example it didn't show the generous side of his personality, it doesn't really do justice to the family man his family say he was. To be fair it would be extremely difficult to fit in a detailed account of Elvis's life in such a small space of time.
