Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
Weird but funny
I don't know what the hell I just watched......but I enjoyed it. A couple of people have told me to check it out. I decided to grab my family (except the mother), which was an interesting experience.
The middle part was the best part of the film. So many odd things happened that made me burst out laughing. I don't think I'd watch it again, but It's one of those films you must watch at least once. The parts you could tell were unscripted and quite funny.
I also saw on Amazon that there is one of two shows of his. I might check them out along with the sequel.
Overall I give this movie an 8.5/10.
The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew (1983)
Fun movie but not my type
Strange Brew falls under the genre I call "Cheesy Canadian Comedies".
As a fellow Canadian, I can say this movie feels so Canadian. The writing, the acting, the story, etc.
I have heard of Bob and Doug Mackenzie through their record "Great White North". Some of their stuff (from what I've seen) is quite funny. Some of the jokes are funny (one funny part being the car chase near the middle of the film), but it's just not strong all the way through. I am attempting to watch all the cheesy 80s Canadian comedies at the moment so maybe my opinion will change.
For now I give this a 6.5/10. It had it's good parts, just not my type of film.
Hazbin Hotel: Masquerade (2024)
Still Not The Best But Getting There
I've watched the first 4 episodes now for the first time with 1 and 2 being viewed for the second time. The show started ok dipping a bit during the second episode, stayed leveled for the third, and came back up in the 4th episode. The songs are getting better, the writing is still the same (still waiting to see what will get the first laugh out of me). Although there are a few problems, mainly some of the writing. I am having fun watching the show. The pacing also feels fast and needs to be slowed down. I'm hoping that the problems are fixed in the later 4 episodes.
I give it a 8/10. Hope it will improve.
Night Five (2022)
Good Story Decent Editing
For a FNAF fan film with only a $21,000 budget, Night Five can tell a good story without leaving many questions unanswered. The set was well-built, the suits were okay (once again due to the small budget), and the story was well-written.
I do have some small problems with the films, like the fake looking Motion Capture, being dark in some scenes and the costumes being a bit on the simple side. These can be excused and you are still able to enjoy the film as either a FNAF fan or someone looking for a fun film.
Such a shame that this was slightly better than the official movie (which I rated a 6/10 or 7/10 as an FNAF fan.)
8/10
It good Movie especially for $21,000.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Amazing Visuals, Kinda Confusing Story
Just came fresh out of Cineplex from FINALLY seeing the FNAF movie.
I would say it's good, not bad, not amazing, just GOOD.
The first act was VERY GOOD. The setup of Mike's character, his relationship with Abby, and also MY BOI Steve Raglan. I would say the parts at the Pizzaria look AMAZING. Matpats Cameo was good and his little name reference too. The part with the vandalism was great and had some GOOD deaths, I remember when Freddy killed Max, someone yelled WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87!
Going into the Second act. I would say that the third or fourth night was when it started going downhill. The whole idea of them being friends with Abby was kinda stupid, and took away from the Horror part of the film.
The Third act started badly but the ending was GOD TIER. The fight with the animatronics and Mike was GREAT, CoryXKenshin's cameo was quite funny, and the final standoff.
I would give this film a 7.5/10
I'm hoping if a second film is made, it will improve on this and it will be better. I still think the critics reviews were dumb because it was made FOR THE FANS.
