Battle Over Britain (2023)
Good story
The film has basic CGI, and its low cost B movie, but it does has its charm and its if you invest in the lives of the people in it you get an emotional story of the men who fought in the battle of Britain. I found the movie basic and good at the same time. The acting was great and so was the setting. The film is not really about the wider war even though that plays a part, its about how the men in the B section of the squadron interact with each other and how they deal with each loss. The battle scenes are ok except there is not much climbing and diving you would expect in aerial combat. Good movie overall despite its short comings, acting is good.
The Last 24 Hours: Elvis Presley (2019)
Just a rehash of the memphis mafia saying it was not their fault
The doc is very professional but it is more about the memphis mafia saying it was not their fault, It goes to great lengths to present this. Some simpets are intresting like when fyke had bad words about the Colonel. Also the myth of the billion viewers for Elvis show in 1973 is repeated. The old excuse Elvis could not go to europe or elsewhere with out the colonel is weak, after all he could go to Caanda, Hawii, etc. Elvis could of gone on the plane to Europe and need not take the Colonel with him. The latter could do the deals from the USA. Its still a mystery why Elvis did not go but me thinks the Colonel has too much bad stuff on Elvis, that is why he got 50% of his earnings. Elvis could of challenged him court but something forced him to back off etc. The doc does not explore this and just repeats what is out there. If Elvis had such bad lungs there is no way he could continue to sing within a year or two of 1977. Worth a watch if your an Elvis fan but best do more with your hour if you are not.
Fatima (2020)
Lovely movie
Great story. I am always intrigued by this story, or event. The movie did not go into the 3rd secret of Fatima which is a shame. Acting is great, I love to see Mary being depicted and the actress who played was very good. The kids played their parts great, so were the special effects and supporting cast. I am not a Christian, i am Muslim but I do not close my mind that God can still send his angels and other visitations to earth from time. Its an emotional movie as the two youngest children die very young which is very sad. The visons Mary show's the kids, one of hell and what the next life will be like was very well done as well.
The Sandman (2022)
Good but too much smut
The series is very good, good acting, good story and good speical effects. The cast is mostlly british, even though it was set in the US, it was filmed in the UK. They did a very good job and it seems the British are starting to produce good quality fantasy TV now - a side from Dr WHO. Stephen Fry played a good part as well The woman who played Satan was (Gwendoline Christie) exceptionaly good at it as well as the actor who played the librarian (Vivienne Acheampong), in many ways she was exceptionally good taking the lime light from the actor who played Dream (Tom Sturridge) but he steals the show over all. The woman (Jenna Coleman) who played Constantine was very good, however i got very fed up with the smutty LGBT sex in the series. I just did not want to see that stuff and skipped the parts where it was happening, it did not add the story and i felt it was pushing LGBT agenda. The actor who played Desire (Mason Alexander Park) was exceptionally good and his accent was exceptional as well as his mannerisms. David Thewlis was good. I want to see more of Johanna Constantine, and may be Kenu Reeves could join the show at some point and revise his role as John Constantine. The rest of the acting was ok, Charlse Dance was ok, nothing speical but he fit the part. So yeah good series and i hope to see season two.
Skyggen i mit øje (2021)
A moving gut wrenching war movie
Superb acting by all, i watched it in english and the english voice overs were excellent as well. The poor kids, very sad to find out 88 kids were killed by the RAF. The movie does not judge, but its well done. Another non english speaking war movie that was excellent was the dutch forgotten battle. This movie is a tear jerker due the children being killed.
Messiah (2020)
Great show - just wish Netflix had some courage
When I heard about this series I knew Netflix would drop the ball and bottle it. Meaning in our woke culture and fear of offending any they would just drop it and leave it at that. Yep I was right, no I am not a right wing nutter and no I was not offended being Muslim. I know Islamic theology regarding the end of days and clearly the dajjal would seek to gather some Muslims for his cause and all other regions et al. I know some Muslims would want it banned because of the above even though they will never see it, they just do as there told and go off trust which silly.
So what do I think of the show it was well acted, well scripted and the story nicely pace. It was was he or was he not supernatural, was he who claimed to be and that fine line was played very well. The dajjal will claim he is the return of the Christ and then god. So it is in line with Islamic theology on this and it was not anti Islamic. But may be powers that be does not want a series like this to be made and warn the world. Great show and I just wish Netflix had grown a pair and completed the show. Cowards.
The Ballerina (2017)
Wow what a surprise
This movie was great and a very big surprised. What can i say - i totally identified with the father and daughter, yes my daughter is called Sofia but i spell it Sofiyah. I loved the little girl in the movie she reminded me of my own daughter at that age and how sad she has gone. That was the heart breaking part, no before you say anything my daughter did not die she grew up and the little girl ceased to be. Of course i still love my daughter but i miss that little girl and this movie reminded me of her and our relationship together. I was very said about the girl in movie not only her but the father and other the other camp dwellers. It is an aching movie on the heart and it brings back a lot of memories for me. Very well done, acting was superb, yes it was done on the cheap so what, loved the twists and turns.
Alfie (2004)
I knew this movie would bomb before it came out
I wrote a review of this film while in production 3 years ago, What I wrote then turned out to be true. To tell you the truth, any fool can see it would bomb, if you saw the production values on the set where the film was made. One location was in the centre of Manchester,England, just behind where I used to work.
It was great having the film people there at first, but then as the days wore on the security at the behest of law were getting very intimidating, and fights nearly broke out with members of the public where watching the shooting of the film. Most of use were office people and was just curious as to what was going on. Nobody was that interested in law but it was a nice bonus for the city of Manchester. Then things got bad, law complained the public was too close, security guards were threatening people with Phyisical Assualts if they film or took pictures on the streets. It got so bad I complain to Manchester City Council representative for the film and arts media at the time. He stated quite clearly no one should of been stopped from taking photo, shooting videos etc or to be intimidated by the film crew. Some of this has been echo else where on the net, by some guy who lived on the street (opposite the make up Cafe, now car park). Lots of thugs being employed by the law gangsters, who threatened the public etc. It totally put me off Law and his films now I would avoid watching them like the plague. Before this I respected him as an actor and like his films ESP the talented Mr Ripley and enemy at the gates. This experience left with a big bad taste in my mouth about how the film industry really regards us.
best wishes
