Murder, She Wrote: Suspicion of Murder (1991)
Not really a review, just a comment...
Any episode with Dennis Stanton is sure to be entertaining. It is truly a shame he never had a spinoff series.
He's one of the few character I like equally to Jessica.
Twilight (2008)
No offense but. . . .
I disagree. I hadn't read the books yet when I saw the movie, so I went and bought them (my friends said I might as well, 'cuz they were so good). And I've read the first two so far. But, in my opinion, what I envisioned in the book as I read it, matched up fairly perfectly to the movie. Especially for Edwards character. Let's keep in mind that in the novel he is stunned by her smell and is disgusted with himself for the thoughts & feelings that cross his mind when it comes to her. Hence the look of constipation; to me, that was not what the look was anyways, but rather it was a look of shock & awe. Then in the office, he's trying to switch classes to get away from her, because he knows he should stay away from her as best he can, his facial expressions nailed it. Now, as for Bella being mono-toned, hey she's a teenager. Guess what, they act like that. Bella is going through that awkward stage, where she shuts out people as much as she can, plus going to a new school doesn't make that easier. Most teenagers can be broken up into "groups" (forgive me if I offend any teens, but I was there once too!), Bella belongs to the quiet & dark (perhaps bordering on goth or emo) vs. Jessica whose your average cheerleader type, peppy, talkative, etc. So, as mono-toned as she may seem, that's exactly how she's supposed to be, so well played! Not to say that I wouldn't have like to see her show her emotions to Edward more, since she was SOOO crazy about him in the novel. And, I think the supporting cast also played their roles quite well; Alice's character was spot-on to the novel, as was Rosealie's. You could totally feel the animosity there! I'm just glad that they stayed true to the book as much as possible & for a novel-to-movie adaptation, I think they did a brilliant job. I hope another is coming soon!
Oliver Twist (1999)
Good Times!
This was a great film! The actors were born to play these roles, the characters suited them quite well. The costumes were splendid, and the setting really took the viewer back to the "Twist" times. Might I add that Marc Warren was quite good, award winning if you will. He played the role of Monks beautifully, and although he was a rough guy, you feel sorry for him. (Plus he's cute with out all the black!) Anywho, back to the movie! The movie also added more stuff that the book left out, and it wrapped up the lose ends. And I'm glad to say that there is a happy ending. I recommend buying the film from Amazon.com, I don't know if you can plug other sites here, but oh well. It's a 3 video set.
